- This is a full integral version of the opera in a splendid rendition by Orchestra matutina, first-rate international cast and Ave Chorus led by charismatic artistic director and conductor Matej Šarc.
Orfeo ed Euridice (French: Orphée et Eurydice; English: Orpheus and Eurydice) is an opera composed by Christoph Willibald Gluck, based on the myth of Orpheus and set to a libretto by Ranieri de' Calzabigi. It belongs to the genre of the azione teatrale, meaning an opera on a mythological subject with choruses and dancing. The piece was first performed at the Burgtheater in Vienna on 5 October 1762, in the presence of Empress Maria Theresa. Orfeo ed Euridice is the first of Gluck's "reform" operas, in which he attempted to replace the abstruse plots and overly complex music of opera seria with a "noble simplicity" in both the music and the drama.

woke up to 2 feet of snow and this opera . what a wonderful way to shovel snow , can't see the video but the speakers on the front porch are vibrating . hopefully a high note from the chorus will vibrate some snow off the roof . so , thank you , Mr. Zevnik
Wow, now isn't this nice... Thank you sooo very much...
Brilliant performance,
Primož you are the Master. I salute You!
Wonderful.
Magnífico! ❤️🇵🇪
Bravo!
Excelente!!!
A lovely performance, though I was a little disappointed at the foreshortened Dance of the Blessed Spirits, thus removing arguably the most beautiful music in the whole opera.
Excelent!
¡Qué emocionante!

What happened to the Dance of the Blessed Spirits???
"Dance of the Blessed Spirits", in 40:25
The brass are doing original instruments but the woodwinds are doing modern ones. What went into that decision?
And costumes and dressing is modern. It is called eclectical baroque production.
