      Unfortunately, you know a lot of these Blue-Pilled Chads, either super Christian or ex-military, will do it. They're some of the FIRST mf'ers to snag that hot blonde with the stetson hat and big blonde hair, and go into crippling debt because his wife wants a whole financed lifestyle and doesn't know the meaning of a dollar. They're some of the biggest suckers you've ever met. And when you see that dude with the $90k truck with nothing being hauled in it, you know whats up. They're all over the place in Tennessee.

      Proud to have spent $1200 for my wife's wedding set. We are also debt free, have money invested, and are getting ready to build a house on one of our lots to sell and increase our cash for investing. My wife and I each have a ring that cost $200. We got married on a Friday morning at the local courthouse, there were no guests. We then had breakfast at a local Cracker Barrel and then went to work. The following week went to Rome for 10 days. That was just over 14 years ago. We now have no car payments, no mortgage, no debt besides credit cards which get paid off every month. That's what you call investing in a relationship and a future.

      Sounds right. Egagement rings were not even a thing till recently. It was mostly a thing for ultra rich elite in the victorian age, and didn;t come to us peasants until after the wedding of Queen Victoria in 1860 (which also gave us the "traditional" white wedding dress). Some will claim it goes back to Rome, but they are conflating /wedding rings/ with egagment rings. Most average folks got a plain gold band when you married that was about it well up until the 1970s.

    So the logic she's using is if a man pays a lot for a ring, then he will work harder to preserve the marriage. However, the vast majority of divorces are filed by the wife, not the husband.
    Now, this argument may actually be on to something if you figure that the man invested in the marriage and the woman invested nothing since he bought the ring and odds are paid for the dates and probably paid household expenses as well. So by this logic, then men and women both need to pay and invest, so dating must be 50 50, and if he pays for a pricey ring, she must pay for the wedding and perhaps they go 50 50 on the honeymoon.
    So, fellas women by their own admission must pay half on everything or at least pay their fair share. He can pay for an expensive ring but she must pay for the wedding and they both should throw in on the honeymoon.

    • @darrenskjoelsvold
      @darrenskjoelsvold 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

      @Champaign268 the funny thing is that since women are typically the ones who file for divorce and sometimes essentially because they got bored and they leave men who are good men. Furthermore they know that they're good men and leave anyway. Probably because they never invested in the guy. You know what that means? It's time for Drizzle Drizzle. If she isn't investing in you then she is more likely to leave you so make her pay.

    We'd been exchanging emails and phone calls for almost a year before that, and met up at an international music school in person before she had to go back to the states.
    I flew out to spend Christmas with her.
    Had I paid thousands of dollars for our engagement rings (yes, I had one too), I would not have had the money for things like, mmm, return flights, UK visas, or setting up housekeeping together!
    we got nice rings, certainly, still have them in fact, but caring more about the price of the engagement ring not only shows a ridiculous level of avarice, but also a total lack of good financial sense!

    What actually proves long term intentions:
    1) Loyalty (not talking to, dating or entertaining the idea of dating anyone else while you are IN ANY WAY a couple or dating).
    2) Being open to trying new things that they like so you develop shared interests.
    3) Them wanting to spend time with you just to get to know you (without making moves towards sex).
    4) Making long term plans together.

    My grandparents have been married for 62 years, and my grandmothers FIRST ring is pretty small;
    But over the years, it has EXPANDED into x4 interlocking rings, and from x1 small diamond into a dozen of various sizes.
    The longer they stayed married, the MORE my grandfather invested into their home, and HER ring across several anniversaries.
    HER ring has become so large that it spans from knuckle-to-knuckle;
    And HIS knuckles have become so big that he has NOT been able to take off his ring for the last 10-12 years.
    MANY women DEMAND to have the LARGE investment upfront, with ZERO certainty on his end, but will NEVER hesitate to complain.
    Nowadays, men should have a LEASE on their wedding rings, and she is ONLY allowed to wear it for the duration of their marriage.
    In that case, a BIG investment would be acceptable because it MAY appreciate in value, and he can SELL the ring once she inevitably decides to divorce.

    32 years ago i proposed with no ring. We got Jcpenny rings the next week and i still wear mine that costs $30 and my wife srill wears hers that cost $50 as a band (no diamonds were on that first ring) today she has a set that cost 15k but she never complained once about that little $50 band she wore all by itself for the 1st 5 years if our now 32 year marriage.
    A woman like in this video is pure toxic and misery waiting to happen.

  • @matejb2
    @matejb2 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    So let me get this straight, for her it would be more important that a man spends 15k $ on a wedding ring, rather than he gives her a 2k $ ring that he inherited from his grandmother and has sentimental value to him. It's strange how some women expect men to buy them expensive rings to show commitment, but the same women can't even pay their own check at the restaurant? If he is still with you after a long time and propose to you, he already spent a lot of his money and time on you, but instead of you being happy that he is willing to commit to you for life, you would be mad at him because the ring is not big and shini enough so you couldn't brag about it to your friends, family and on social media. This is simply disgusting

    My wife bought a cheap Walmart bag, when we moved together after marriage. It was maybe a $20 bag... she still has that bag, and still uses it. So it is weird how much she cherishes it, even though it wasn't expensive. And that was years ago.

  • @Insightfill

    And the ring is a SYMBOL but not the marriage itself. (It's not even the wedding band but the engagement ring she's worked up over.)
    To carry on her metaphor: if you spend $2k on a handbag and keep $50k of cash in it, you probably shouldn't worry as much about the handbag if it gets stolen. Priorities!

    I proposed using a ring she already had that I'd gotten her for her 21st birthday. She was so happy she cried. Then we went shopping together to find a matching 3-ring set we both liked. SHE set a $500 max limit, because we were poor college students. We found a great set we both loved at a jewelry store that was going out of business & was 75% off. 30+ years later & even though we did eventually get divorced, she still brags about what a great deal WE found for such great looking rings.
    The investment we made in the relationship was time and dedication to each other, not just me throwing money at things.

    Giving her more money will not make her less annoying. Also no amount of investment will prevent her from becoming more sour and toxic, so her premise is way off.
    To wit, investments are made with the intention of yielding a larger return. The term here is 'sunk cost/ consumables".'

    I have a haversack that I bought probably in either the late '00s or early '10s, for about 20 bucks. I have used it and 2 other haversacks for carrying my crap for the last 15 years. I can guarantee her $2000 handbag will be gone or in a dark pile in the corner of her closet in 2 years. Purchase price means nothing, intention means everything.

    My wife and myself got married 40 years ago. Our wedding was at the JPs house. Our reception was our closest 10 friends at our apartment. Then the local legion,where my wife was a bartender,had us a get together. Honey moon was at her parents cabin in northern Saskatchewan. Still going strong in our 40th year together

    Where is the womans financial investment aka commitment?

    Or she just spreads love and other things?
    I have better costing ways to get that (assuming I pay for it)

    Handbags and engagement rings are not investments. They are two excellent examples of "not investments" in fact, as they are not bought for the hope of appreciating in dollar value. This lady's opinion about them is an excellent example of a "red flag".

    The people who spent the most on their marriages and the wedding are actually the ones who divorce the earliest and most often.
    The couples who spent the least on their wedding and marriage are the ones who end up staying together much longer.
