Of the most sumptuous, fully grounded, beautifully acted, cleanest sung renditions of this scene I've seen yet. I actually hear Verdi, not a singer's vanity. Brava, Anna Tomowa-Sintow!
One of the most underrated sopranos--at least in this country. OK she is not Italian but when they start producing singers of this quality ....... She ascends to the high C with total confidence, the voice is firm and resonant. Caniglia explodes at this point. The best Aida--it's on the Ofeo label, conducted by Muti with Domingo Tomowa-Sintow and Brigite Fassbender. Muti is on fire and inspires his singers. It's a live performance with excellent sonics. TS sings Amelia with Pavarotti in a DVD that should still be in the catalogue. Also an excellent Amelia (Simon Bocanegra) in the Met taping is stunning as the voice blossoms as she ascends the scale. Glorious.
OMG! I also can't stop watching this video! The Sets! The Costume! everything sets up the scene for this grand performance! I just started working on this aria and it's helps to see such a stellar performance! Thanks for posting this!!
Ajude-me, oh! Senhor, Ergue meu pobre coração!" Ao inimigo adeus. Tudo se resolve com o coração cheio de amor. Como num incêndio, a pandemia em rescaldo. Mas as pessoas com medo chama as chamas. E o perigo ronda os medrosos sem respaldo. A fé no todo que nos envolve e a todos ensina O caminho que chega ao lugar sem haver lamas. Deslindar os mistérios a todos é a nossa sina. Maybe it's just me, but she seems to be forcing weight into her middle register too much. Amelia is very heavy on the middle of the voice, and it seems a bit taxing for her. The intonation and crescendo up to the High c6 is very good though.
I heard her many times and her center was very firm, she had a big sized instrument and the voice ran very well. Her top was extraordinary, a creamy sound that never sounded forced.
Not her best role (Amelia needs a voice like Lady Macbeth & Aida & Trovatore & Don Carlo )..... She has a more lirico liric con Spinto voice BUT luxurious & very very fine Legato
Lady Macbeth and Elisabetta in Don Carlos certainly do not require the same voice. They are at opposite ends of teh spectrum!! Freni had the perfect voice for Don Carlos. In Aida she was somewhat out of her depth and fortunately she bever even attempted the other orles you mentioned.

¡ BRAVO ! Miss Tomowa Sintow is out of this world ! Excellent ! Her voice is beautiful. A real soprano spinto.
One of the best Bulgarian singers ever.
Definitely one of my favourite singers of all time. Like the Germans say: sie ist ja einfach der Hammer!
She KILLS me. Wow!! Just out of this world.
Oggi non esistono artiste cosi Grandi, meravigliosa!

@@babbonatale9362vero....grande soprano la cui maestra è stata la Cabaille ...
The absolutely very greatest singer of the last decades of the last century. My heart starts beating higher everytime I am listening her singing.

Love this whole performance!!!!!
Stunning!
Anche se sbaglia una parola ("qual forza m'arretra", non "m'arresta") è veramente bravissima! La pronuncia è ottima e il colore è bello ed omogeneo.
Divina
I love everything about her
With Pavarotti and Cappuccilli, I was lucky enough to be there! And big Pav cracked twice ...

yea it's just you.
Yup, it's you. She sang very well until 60
She doesn't force weight in her middle register, put she puts it there. But I agree with you that there is no need whatsoever.
