Just because you regret buying it doesn't mean it's a bad pencil at all! We are all so different.I'd love to hear which ones you regret buying and don't forget to enter into the giveaways!
I love to use budget pencils along with my more expensive ones for different effects with layering. So I use all my collection, from Crayola to Luminance and everything in between!
I happen to love the Arteza Expert pencils, and they are one of my Top 3. I love them for when I need a softer pencil, but my Prismas are just ~too soft. I'd say my favorites are Prisma, Polychromos, and Arteza Expert. I only have a few other sets, all of which I enjoy equally on different papers. I also go through FOMO, but I think I have more than enough sets to last me for a while.
I have the Spectrum Noir, I bought them long ago when I was just recently into the scrapbooking community and everyone used these and I could get them for a good price directly from a web in UK on sale. I need to do a complete swatch in one page like you have since I have mine from the official web and they are separated in sets. Is there any possibility at all please that you could share the file that your friend made for you? It would be such a time saver for those of us who have the SN pencils and are not thinking on selling them (unless I get the lottery and can buy a really cool expensive artist set LOL). Thank you. I am not participating in the giveaway since I am from Spain and cannot receive the shipping but I think it was a really nice thing to do and give someone the chance to get them.
My only regret is not using my coloring pencils very much. I bust them out once in a while, draw and color something, then put them away in favor of my watercolors. My other regret is not using my Copic markers for approximately three to four years. 😢
I know what you mean. I didn't use my Letraset Promarkers for over 10 years (health reasons) but when I did they worked perfectly. I was stunned! Still regret not being able to use them for that long though.
Biggest Artist quality regret... Derwent Procolour. I have tried so hard to work with them but they just don't seem to work well on even the best colouring books. I'm not a huge fan of Prismacolor... they don't suit my style of colouring (multiple light layers). But I'll keep my set as I occasionally find a use for them. Favourite after all these years is still FC Polychromos plus a close second is Derwent Chromoflow because I am smitten with their fabulous unique colour selection.
Hi Peta!! I'm a huge fan, used to love watching your videos back in 2015/2016. Hope you're doing well! Anyway my favs are also Polys and I don't really like the Prismas. I was thinking of getting the Chromaflows when my current Prisma set is used up but I keep hearing conflicting things. They're great!! and also they suck!! LOL. Would you mind telling me what you like about the Chromaflow pencils?
I recently purchased some polychromos and Albrecht Duer pencils. I would rather have fewer sets that I enjoy using because I absolutely love my Prismas and I actually really like my Markart as a budget pencil in certain books. Thanks for sharing!
@@dianebrown8152 I have the set. They are good quality pencil set. The swatches I made are vibrant and bold. They coloured smoother than most brands. Easy to sharpen with no breakages. The colours are specially created to the Chinese colour preference so some people don't care for it. We in Asia love the colour sets. And yes, they're really pretty to have too.
I got the Spectrum Noir and paid a pretty penny for the whole series and there are nothing I hate more in my studio. They stink, -still after 5+ years like make up that has gone really bad, and yes the pigment load is nearly non existent and and they break all the time and does not sharpen. It is the only coloured pencils I will advice people to NOT buy. Everything else I have tried have had for the most part a reasonable price/performance. My buyers regrets where it is not a quality but personal preference is Procolour from Derwent. When they came out, some people I unfortunately trusted, said they were like Polychromos. So I bought them and no..... they are NOT like Polychromos. If I did not have that expectation, I might have liked them better, but as is, they are nearly untouched. I also got a set of 72 Artist pencils from Derwent I do not use, but that is because of the lightfastness or rather the lack of it. I had the Polycolor from Koh-I-Nohr too, but gave them away. Not because I disliked them, but I could not get them open stock. And open stock is a must for me. So I have stopped buying anything really that I cannot get open stock and get easily too.
I am a newbie in the colored pencil / adult coloring world. I have only been coloring for a few months. I wish I could color more often. I have M.S. and some days my hands or my eyes won't work well enough to color. I enjoy the pencils that I have. I only have a few sets : brutfuner 120 , star joy golds, kalour 120 set, a 36 piece prismacolors, and castle arts 120. I do regret how much I paid for the castle arts. They were the first set of pencils that I bought. They had a ton of great reviews and it was a really good sale. So I went for it. I do like them. They are not a bad pencil. Although, My bruts & kalours work just as good as the castle arts and are cheaper. I will probably never purchase the castle arts again unless it is a serious discount though. I really want to try the brutfuner squares, but they are so hard to find. Other pencil sets I would love to try are the arteza and poly chromos. They are both so expensive though. It will take me a long time to save up for them. My dream is the 150set prisma though. The star joy golds, I like. I do wish they were a bit more pigmented. Their color range is great though. The pencils are nice to hold on to as well. My hands tend to hurt when I try to color. I do use all the pencils that I own. I suck at coloring and my pictures will never be anything special. I just color for fun. I worry about what happens when I start using up pencils. Some of mine are short little nubs. Funds are so limited that I will have trouble replacing anything. Especially if i have to buy a whole set again. I wish more pencil companies had open stock. I use my least favorite pencils in the cheaper amazon paper coloring books. Then I save my brutfuner and 36 piece prisma for better books.
I actually love Blick pencils. I think they're reasonably priced, considering they're meant as artist's pencils. The price for me is less since I'll no longer buy sets bigger than 48.
I just saw your channel, but have watched your show many times and enjoy your reviews. I would be interested in the Spectrum Noir, Blick Studio or Fantasia if any are still available? Thank you. 19:0719:07
I actually enjoyed my crayola set but gave it away when I was decluttering and had too many pencils. Castle Arts, watercolor included, I hated. I like prisma, but I got the 520 bruts that I am using slowly and do enjoy because they are actually good (metallics aside).
I sadly regret buying too many colored pencils instead of buying the best affordable for me, prismas 150 y Policromos 120! I think I threw money buying too many not so good! Love your coloring!!!!
I regret buying black widows. On the fence about woomer, the swatch sheet they included makes them seem bad. I need to try them on better paper. Prismacolor breaks too much and too many are not lightfast. Love Derwent Lightfast, Derwent Drawing, Polychromos, and Luminance!
I got on the pastel bandwagon awhile ago and bought the Castle Arts ones plus their metallics. I hold a class auction for my students and put both sets in it. I have a very happy student that loves them.
Can I ask where you got the rings for the top of your swatch chart? I lust after them in every video you post but cannot work out what to even search for. Thank you x
I absolutely hate my Spectrum Noir pencils. I only use some lighter shades that I miss in the Polychromos set. I have not even bothered getting a pencil case for them. 😂
I gave my SN away…shame really because they had some loverly colours. They have been releasing Colorista sets and I’m wondering if they are the same as they were, or if they are the SN set just reboxed🤔
Once i saw a video stating that pablo's were the best on black paper. I wonder if the kohinoor are good on black too. Here in argentina we don't have many brands to choose from, but we have all kohinoor products for many years now, in fact, is one of the cheaper open stock pencils available
Thanks for sharing this! I have a handful of different brands of pencils and I’m no expert by any means but I do gravitate to certain ones more do than others. Did you create your swatch sheets? I really need to do that.
The Kor i noor pencils are my dream pencil. But I agree with you. So hard to get. I have a small set and a set of the tri colors, and I love them, just so expensive.
Thank you for this forecast. I really like your channel.New subscriber here. I'm from Missouri. Whatever we get I think we are ready. I've been buying warmer clothes like lined pants and ski mask. So I'm ready for colder weather. We have 4 wheel drive so not too worried about deep snow.
I absolutely regret buying the star-joy gold set. I used them twice and hated them. I also kind of regret buying the full set of prismas. I bought the 72 set and thought they were ok. Got the polychromos but was frustrated so bought full set of prismas. Should have stuck to my polychromos because I now enjoy them so much better and I have 1.5 set of prismas I almost never use.
Arteza was my first "adult coloring" supply and they were affordable when I got them, remember it being £28? For the tin, then the price crept up and up and now they don't even list the 120 set for sale in the UK period.
Hi. I just started coloring a couple weeks ago and have not yet purchased any colored pencils, but also don’t know where to start. As of right now, I have some water-based markers, acrylic markers and alcohol markers. I also want to get some gel pens in the future.💜
Very interesting video :). I'm a mixed media artist to whom life has thrown a number of curve balls and now focus on using instead of curating. Sometimes I go for projects partially because they will consume a lot of materials; an unexpected upshot of this is I've really expanded my skill set, stopped hunting for unicorn consumables, , and no longer feel overwhelmed by my decades of accumulated arty goodness. It's not for everyone, but for me in particular it's a welcome sea change.
I agree with you totally on the Castle Arts and the Spectrum Noir. The Castle just aren't worth the price point they are at now and after buying the Brutfuner 520 I actually think the Brut's are nicer. Spectrum Noir shocked me because I absolutely love their watercolor pencils, but they are an interesting company who doesn't allow negative feedback on their products. I got blocked from their Facebook after calling out that their Illustrator Markers that they advertised as "IDENTICAL" to their first line were no where near similar and even put up pictures. They threatened me with slander and blocked me and other's who were calling them out. Then tried to say I had to go through company complaints as it was a department matter. But when you would complain ... nothing, crickets for months for me, over a year for others. Come to find out they switched the colors and the formulas and LIED to the consumers outright in advertising and bait and switch. Even though I love their pencils I will never buy another thing from them again and contracted the British Trade Commission but never heard anything...funny enough they clearance out everything then suddenly had another "new" line.
I regret my Chromaflows the most, then Windsor and Newton 48 set (impulse buy), and all my cheapie sets with no open stock. None are great, not terrible, but I never use them. I do have the full Blick set as well and dislike. I really only use my Polys, Albrecht Duhers, and Inktense. LOVE all three! I have the Prisma full set, my very first brand i bought, but I really don't like the softness of them and they smudge too much for my liking. My Polys are my go to and absolute fav!!
May I ask why you don't like the chromaflows? They're at the top of my wishlist, but given that my favorites are albrech durer and inktense, I suspect we may have similar tastes... should I go with polychromos instead? (I wanted something that isn't water soluble, but given that with polychromous the colors are mostly the same as AD, I was eyeing those Derwent ones... but... why don't you like them? too soft?)
@@andreae. If you're considering the Polychromos but don't want the ame colors as the ADs, then I'd suggest getting the Pablos as an alternative. The pencils are fairly similar (not exact mind you),hold a sharp point and are not super waxy like Prismas. If I hadn't received the Polys and AD as a gift, I would've probably liked to get the Pablos as well.
@@sugarcandy243 Thank you so much for answering! Yes, it's the holding a point and not being waxy that I like. Thank you for the suggestion! I did not know that.
I have sooo many unopened sets to try still (around 5 at last count), but so far my biggest regret was the Amazon Basics 72 set. They're just not fun to use. It's way too much work to get decent color saturation. Someone gave me a second set for the holidays & I regifted it to a friend who uses RoseArt pencils because I can't imagine using up enough of the set I've had for 2 years now; much less needing to replace anything in it. When they're gone -- they're gone. I enjoy Prismacolor Premier, Black Widow, and have been enjoying the Star Joy set (thanks for the link back when they popped back up btw lol). I think for 2025 my goal is to try all of my unopened sets and just stick to Prisma, BW, and finally crack open my Polychromos to try.
Thank you for letting me know where to get them. I just spent $70 on a whole bunch of Prisma pencils. They are having a big sale right now. $1.38 per pencil or $1.25 per pencil if you buy 12 or more. Plus there is a coupon code for free shipping with orders $35.00 or more. This is my first order from them, and it definitely won't be my last. 😉
I loooove my Brutfuner macaron 72 pencil set. It's almost impossible to get Holbein shipped to 🇨🇦and the colours are so pretty and they are creamy like Prismacolor. I regret buying FC Polychromos. They're just ok. I much prefer Derwent Lightfast and Caran d'Ache Luminance for a professional coloured pencil. (Of course I do. They're super expensive! 😅)
Hello Kori. I am new to the adult coloring community. I have bought all the top name brand pencils that I am able to buy one or more pencils from Blick. Therefore, I have no regrets. Thank God. Because I have spent a ton load of money. 😂 My regret is my techniques. I don't know what I am doing. I both Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils first. I love them, but I'm still unsure how to use them. I keep hearing you talk about the smooshing effects. Do you have a tutorial on how to use Prismacolor?
I bought a bunch of different brands of colorful pens that I thought I would use because they just look so fun but years later and they just sitting in zip closed bags not getting used because I only reach for my microns for pen drawing and haven't really been able to get colorful pens to really look that great no matter what I do.
The only ones I would disagree on would be Arteza which I love. I would even take them of your hands, but I'm guessing postage would be too much. Apart from those I also own Castle Arts and haven't used them in ages plus Koh i noor Polycolors, for those I much prefer their watercolor pencils called Mondeluz. The thing is - in my country they are considered cheap artist pencil, especially before they came up with the 144 set they were very cheap and available open stock. Now the prices have gotten up, but still pretty cheap. So they were my first 'artist' pencils.
Hi, i totally understand your thoughts on castle arts....i despise them. Now the fantasia....i didnt care for the one set i purchased about 20 or so years ago. I had been thinking about the arteza set, but after your thoughts, nah, i be good
I'm weird; I love Prismacolor and enjoy working with Koh-i-Noor Polycolor; they give me way less hand fatigue than Polychromos and I have a light, bony hand to make strokes, lol
I don't have many discarded pencils that I don't use any more. I keep them to do preliminary sketches and layouts. That way I can save my premium pencils for the real drawings. However I don't have entire sets as you do.
As a regret I got Marco Raffine pencils which were around 20€ for 72, I find it difficult to layer them and the surface becomes strangely grainy. I bought these years ago to have more colours than my Faber-Castell Classic Colour 48 set at the time. Decotime Da Vinci so 4 x18 for 2,25€ per set whose colours are too similar and layer very poorly and pigmentation is average for such a cheap one.
Hi Kori! I agree with you on the Arteza pencils, they do not layer well! The colors are beautiful but, i donated them! I have the castle art pencils and they are ok that’s it! I think those pencils that just dont feel good, use smoothly or are just over priced, it’s hard to get over using them! I appreciate your view and thank you for doing this!!! It is good for some who just might not know!!!
I too regret purchasing soooo many pencil sets. I have given away at least 10 sets, mostly budget. Castle Arts was one of them. When I purcahsed the 72 set, they were $13.99, now crazy expensive for a budget pencil. I also have the Arteza, not a bad pencil, but I don't use them. I too purchased the Koh-i-Noor, first the 72 set, then the 144 set and I really love them. They work great in Johanna basford books, but I agree, buying open stock is going to be difficult. Cult Pens has some open stock, but looks like they are weaning them back. The only other, expensive set I regret purchasing are Caran D'ache Pablos. Not because they are not excellent pencils, but because I just never reach for them, but may be time to pull them out.
They aren't artist quality. I know they do say they are, but their lightfastness and quality for creation leaves much to be desired for the price tag on them.
I agree with you on Blick and Castle Art. My regrets are Black Widow (I don’t enjoy them at all) and Artisto. Side note, your press on nails are pretty. What brand do you use, and do you find they stick well?
I'm gonna only pick ones still in my collection and not ones that I'm no longer in possession of. My first colored pencil regrets were the Faber-Castell Goldfaber pencils. They broke so freaking much that nearly all of them are half the size thwy were when I got them and I barely used them. They're nice when they're not breaking, but the fact that they don't have color names seriously bothers me. Luckily, I only got a 12 count set. Lots of people love them, though. My other major one was the Lyra Polycolor pencils. The quality control on them is awful, I got some really awful color dips with sharp edges and crap in them, smeared writing, writing that's completely absent, some of my pencils were pre-sharpened on the wrong ends so now the color name and numbers are gone, and I ended up with a few duplicates. On top of that, the tin sucks, the color range is seriously lacking, and I just really don't like the dusty texture of them. Plus, they do not layer well at all for me, and I can't figure out why? I've tried using different techniques I use with my other pencils, as well as other papers, and they just don't work for me at all. Another smaller one was the Pentel Arts Colored Pencils. I really love Pentel's stationary supplies, so I thought I'd try their art line. Their pencils are super hard and not particularly pigmented. Plus, no color names, only numbers. They're just not very good. Crayola ones are better for much less money. Other than that, I'm happy with my collection. I always thoroughly research the pencils I buy, and I no longer even make attempts to buy any budget ones because the few I've tried, I've ended up returning or giving away. I just stick to student or artist grade ones. My favorite student grade set is probably the Prismacolor Scholar pencils. Those are actually pretty decent. Anyways, just thought I'd share my own regrets!
Huge regret... brutfuner 180 watercolour pencils. I am now completing my inktense and faber castell albrecht durer sets as quality over quantity is worth the spend. On the upside my 3 year old thinks 180 coloured pencils and a few water brushes are the best thing ever😂😂
My 1st set where amazon Basics, week later got Star Joy Gold, which actually aren't too bad. Honestly all my pencils depends on what I'm coloring on because for instance I love my black Widows with rita berman, artistos on Nice little Town Books, etc next I got arteza expert and the watercolor. I feel exactly the same! I've used them, but their just not for me, esp the wc's. Then I got the Black Widows. Bought set by set, . I actually don't use them alot but I will always keep them. Finally got prismas, and was hooked! Since then the only type I've gotten is the Artistos, reg and the watercolor. If you like soft pencils like prismas, you have to try these! I love the wc as much as the reg ones, they come with diff colors also so it gives you a set of 150, . Yes of course alot oars duplicates, but that's OK with me ! I Def use them! When I color on amazon paper. Of course I don't use mynwaterpens , BUT you can use the colorless blenders , and or watercolors pens. And you can't beat the price. Amazon you can get them for 30 a set. On sale now. I've already bought another set of 72 and it's only been like 6 months since I got them. They blend great with prismas, . Oh I have prisma wc pencils, those suckers are awesome, talk about soft & full of color when activated! Holy crap. Again, I just use the ohuhu colorless blender on books with Amazon paper. But I finally got another printer for Christmas ams I've been going nuts printing up pages! It will def slow my shopping of coloring books, (but not much!!lol it just gives me the opportunity to make another copy if my favs. And try for example , one of johannas on amazon type paper. I love alcohol markers on that paper. Alot of people dont like it, but I do I'm hooked on Nice little towns at the moment. I made up a Christmas coloring book I pick out all the pics I know I'll never color, and add all the rest together in one 100 page pocket binder book thing, (whatever their called!) . They come in 100,80, 60, 40 20 and 10 page books, that have the thin clear pockets you insert your pages in. And I got on. Kick of making my own size coloring books! All about 8x8 like rita bermans. You would be surprised how many of johanna basfords pages I could cut down to 8x8 because so many of her pages have alot of blank k background. It's great! Because I just like coloring more in smaller sizes than 10". I guess because I'm always mobile, my lap, my bed, the couch, everywhere except a prope permanet r area to color. I'm a love in caretaker and it helps so much pass time because she's fully bedridden. . And can't speak either. Very sad. That's why I enjoy videos on TH-cam . It's almost like having someone here to "talk to lol if you know what I mean, ! Lord let me end this long novel! Lol Happy new year!,
Hey love if you ever want to destash any let me know please or even coloring books. I had a lot of strokes and coloring is really helping me with my ptsd and other cognitive issues. I have a few cheap pencils but would love to try more but can’t work. I would be willing to to pay for some
I have the full set of Blick and really regret it. They are more, to me, like Arrtx and Kalour pencils got together and had baby pencils. They are not horrible but I just did not like them. I LOVE my Arteza 120 but they are SO hard to find, anymore, that I stopped using them. I had 2 set but had used them a LOT before I saw them not being sold as much anymore. If I can't replace them, I feel like I can't use them. I should as I really loved them.
My only regret was buying Luminance pencils. I find that a number of the colours go on unevenly and I get lumps of colour I can’t burnish or blend out.
What you could recommend for a smushy, soft pencils? I know Prismas dont have close competitor, but it is quite expensive outside of USA. I need an alternative
Oh Gosh! I do regret some. And it seems I don't like the Arrtx pencils as much as everyone else does. but I need to use them more. Like you, I love pencils, so I collected many sets. And you are so right, I did the same thing, I look at them and think...I'm NEVER going to use all of these. LOL So I'm doing a series of videos to get to know them and determine what I like and don't like. I don't want to collect just to collect. I actually want to use them. and if I find myself never wanting to use them, then ...they need to go. I definintely regret buying the Amazon Basics and the Arrtx. I might have to edit this comment every time I find another set. I'm only at the beginning of my pencil testing journey. Arteza I used more, but I'm not sure if that's cause I really liked them or if that was just what I had at the time, as I have had them for quite a while. Castle Arts Soft Touch i'm not in love with, and I don't think they have enough light and dark colors really, but I do love their PastelTint. I find that I am not really a big fan of any of the black barrel pencils. Thanks so much for being honest and sharing. Love it!
Hullo Korilynn, I am rather surprised at your Blick pencil disdain! For a store brand to offer individual sales or "open stock" and have very reasonable prices I should think your would certainly give them a decent try? I used to buy my Koh-I-Noor pencils from our local art store, but they went out of business a few years ago. I think between WalMart and Amazon they just could not compete anymore. I buy all of my Koh - I - Noor products from e-Bay and the store most often having the best prices is "sklarek-family" They have reasonable prices but I have seen them beat on occasion, but I still buy from them as they have never let me down and I get good shipping and my stuff is packaged well too! If shipping from Poland gets harder in this new future There are places in Utah that sell Koh - I - Noor products and they are my 2nd most ordered from. Now I have not purchased the 144 set as I like their Mondeluz Aquarell Watercolor Pencils better! I have purchased the Soft pastels TOISON D`OR 72 Colours, these are very good medium soft sticks! My other favorite of the Koh I Noor's are the Tri-color pencils you get 3 colors in one pencil and they create a harmony without flipping through multiple pencils in your hands! They are simply fun to use! Good luck selling your pencils I did go look, but I do not get there in time as I am not a regular subscriber my bell is NOT set to ALL! OH! I did not see any information on your e-bay store. You might include that option too. Have a lovely Day!
I regret buying the Windsor and Newton color pencils. I bought them on a whim when at Michael's and paid alot for the 48 set. I thought because they are an art brand they would be good. The color selection is weird and I don't enjoy the way they lay down. So they sit in a case unloved.
It is amazing the amount of things I’ve collected in the time I’ve been doing this😂. I understand totally how this happens especially when you have a channel.
So funny how we are all different. I hated the Polychromos. I couldn’t get into them so I stick with Prismas. I love the old Arteza pencils- the new ones are different and not in a good way. You ever want to get rid of those Artezas- hit me up. :-) Great video!
My first color pencil was Castle Arts, soft touch and watercolor pencils, I hated them from the start, can't layer with them, and they r expensive, they refuse to lower the price, I don't know what they r thinking by keeping the price high, even through Christmas.
My regret is the castle arts, I thought they would be able to buy individually but no they’re not. Which sucks cause I am an animal/pet portrait artist I rely heavily on some colours, I’ve already ran out of the light pale yellow colours. I absolutely adore my polychromos pencils but regret getting the fancy pencil wood box because I was expecting that to be smaller. 😂 I should’ve gotten the tins as I put my pencils in similar cases to this video. I’m glad I’m not alone with the castle arts ones.) (I won’t be buying more pencils until I used up the castle art ones.
Arteza are one of my all time favoutites, but I agree they've gotten really expensive in recent years! I was lucky enough to stock up nearly 5 years ago so I still have a full set in my drawers! I tried the Castle Art and gave them to my kids I absolutely hated them! Those Phoenix ones are great as a display peice but I don't think I could ever use them!
I have purchased black widow, star joy, Arteza, Marco Renoir, colorbank, chromaflow, Windsor and Newton studio, and Lyra(which I actually bought individually, and were very hard to get a hold of.) and I either returned or sold to secondhand art supplies. The ones I have kept and love are prisma color, poly chromos, Pablo, and any other Derwent brand other than chroma flow. I really like my. Progresso. Woodless , and I still have a set of 72.koh I noor… Haven’t used those but they’re still in the tin so I’m on the fence about whether or not I’m gonna get rid of them or use them because they are open stock. And that’s the bottom line. I think the only ones that I’ve returned that are open stock are the chroma flow! gave those a chance two times and still thought I could do better :-) it really is strange that it seems like it’s just a pencil, but the way it performs or the way it actually feels is very important! I actually sent back the luminance Because I just couldn’t handle the way they felt on the paper even though they layered like a dream :-) lol but doesn’t it feel good to actually figure out which ones you really like and just stick with those and find new homes for the others? Perhaps money wasted, but it was worth it to find out what really works otherwise you’d be wondering, right?😉 I actually ordered the Poska pencils last night and they will be here today… We shall see if it was a good purchase or they will be returned… I haven’t checked to see if you have reviewed those or not, but I heard they are a dupe for the Holbein at half the price. Trying to minimize and use what I have but I couldn’t help the curiosity got a hold of me. I wanted to try those out! Lol anyway happy new year.🎉🎉🎊
Hullo, I have just one set I am sorry I purchased and it is the Cezzanne pencils from Jerry's Artarama. I got them in an introductory price of $29.99 for 120 pencils. I got them for my Nieces and Nephews, but they do not want to use them! They want to use my Prismacolors or the Square Brut's!
Got on the bandwagon of buying fs budget pencils-soucolor starjoys phoenix & got Obos as a gift. I’m not a gifted colorist like Kori no way I can make it work 😅 I must get rid of them😢 rest I hv to keep Uni arteza kohinoor-not so bad workable 😂
The Spectrum Noir are such a disappointment. I agree that they are scratchy and don't lay down well at all. Its my greatest regret because they were expensive!
I ditched my Arteza not because of the formula, but because of the colour range not being to my taste. I actually also find this with prismas to a degree. Basically I always burnish, so I found the bright colours not well suited to my style and lighter colours or more muted colours annoying to mix. Its not that I didnt make nice art or didnt find them pleasant to use when I wanted to mess around without wasting my expensive supplies but the colour selection wasn't suited for my needs as is and I dont want to have to put a lot of work into experimenting with a cheaper product like that. If the colours I need aren't ready to grab I dont want it
The question is, what do you do with stuff? I mean pens, pencils, paper, etc... tha you bought once to try and that you personally dislike or no longer use them if you don't want to sell?
I give them away like I mentioned. A lot of sets I give to the local women's shelter when they are budget ones, but in this case I'm giving two sets away to viewers and selling the others.
I tried the spectrum noir pencils and like you absolutely rubbish. Also like you I brought the koori Noor, swatched and not used lol. Too many pencils too little time.
I love my Arrtex ones but agree on the spectrum noir - they were my first and ong they are horrible now!!! I regret buying the pablos as I just don't like them
I succumbed to the phoenix pencils(saw them reviewed on the Art Gear Guy) and have hardly used them. Yes the packaging is what attracted me and like you, I had to order them through Ali Express(and the experience was actually wonderful) My faber Castell Polychromos pencils remain my preciouses..(lol) I have the polycolours by Koh I noor and quite like them . I am currently between houses so many of my pencils are in storage. (oh and Spectrum Noir are NOTORIOUSLY bad . Just for your other members info.... )
I regret my colourblends as well! 😅 and unlike most people I can't stand the kalours! I've regifted the kalours to my niece who loves them! And I'm still holding onto the colourblends because I drove 6 hours to buy them and 6 hours home to be disappointed lol. 😂 so I can't part with them yet!
Just because you regret buying it doesn't mean it's a bad pencil at all! We are all so different.I'd love to hear which ones you regret buying and don't forget to enter into the giveaways!
I would like to buy the Arteza Expert pencils!
I love Arteza too
I love my Arteza Expert pencils. Prismacolor and Lyra are also my favorites.
I really like the Blick pencils and also appreciate that they are open-stock!
@ I’m glad your markers worked after ten years. I’m hoping whenever I go back to using my Copics they work too. ☺️
Thank you for the opportunity to own these!! I do have sets of regret!! Good luck everyone
You're welcome! 👍
Hi Kori. My regrets are the Castle Art pencils and the Tombow Irojiten pencils. I’d love the Holbein. Happy New Year!!
I agree, the Castle Arts were terrible IMO! Scratchy and hard to blend! Happy New Year! 🎉
I recently purchased some polychromos and Albrecht Duer pencils. I would rather have fewer sets that I enjoy using because I absolutely love my Prismas and I actually really like my Markart as a budget pencil in certain books. Thanks for sharing!
I have dreamed of getting the Phoenix colored pencils, not only for the designs on the packaging but I've heard that they were a great pencil.
I heard the Blick brand colored pencils are made in the same factory as Koh-i-Nohr. They are open stock.
I have the Derwent Artist full set and hate them. 😮
@@SnugglesFairie 🩷🤍🩷🤍🩷🤍I feel the same 🥰
very generous of you Kori! ...Happy happy New Year to you and your family!
Thank you so much! Happy New Year to you too!
I actually love Blick pencils. I think they're reasonably priced, considering they're meant as artist's pencils. The price for me is less since I'll no longer buy sets bigger than 48.
I agree and also like that they are open stock!
I agree … I buy them open stock
@@marthamacdonald9828 They're really great quality.
@carlaanderson9495 I love that they're available open stock too.👍
I just saw your channel, but have watched your show many times and enjoy your reviews. I would be interested in the Spectrum Noir, Blick Studio or Fantasia if any are still available? Thank you. 19:07 19:07
Yeah the ColourBlends were quite the disappointment.
Same here, I don't even know where I put them.
I gave my SN away…shame really because they had some loverly colours. They have been releasing Colorista sets and I’m wondering if they are the same as they were, or if they are the SN set just reboxed🤔
I am so happy that you like the Black Widows! They are my “go to” pencils😊
I really do enjoy them for hair!
Once i saw a video stating that pablo's were the best on black paper. I wonder if the kohinoor are good on black too. Here in argentina we don't have many brands to choose from, but we have all kohinoor products for many years now, in fact, is one of the cheaper open stock pencils available
@vaninafernandez3043 I watched the art gear guy review and he liked them. I'd like to find the 144 set.
I appreciate the review. I prefer harder colored pencils so some of these may be more to my liking. Thanks for all the information!
Yeah if they were easier to get they would NOT be on this list.
I totally agree with the Castle Arts' soft touch. Especially for the prices they have been charging. I gave them away.
I don’t like castle art soft touch either
@@ColourfulSteph oh yes I hear you. I regret the star joy gold as well. Hard as a rock, not very pigmented, very disappointed and tbey were not cheap.
I enjoyed your video for your honesty. 🌹
Thank you so much!
Love the Arteza set. My fave pencils are my prismas and my Berol Canadiana but they are not manufactured anymore.
@jasminevazquez1556 a box of 100 Crayolas is a good place to start.
Lots of colors for 15.00 last time I looked.
Goes well with prismas.
Yes, it's the holding a point and not being waxy that I like, thanks for the suggestion!
@@sugarcandy243 Thank you so much for answering! Yes, it's the holding a point and not being waxy that I like. Thank you for the suggestion! I did not know that.
I love my Arteza Expert pencil set of 120 that I purchased 5 years ago. I like the bright vibrant colors included in the set.
TFS. Love your channel! Would you happen to know where I can get open stock prismacolors in the US?😊
Thank you for letting me know where to get them. 😉
Best of luck to everyone.... Happy New Year!
Best wishes from Australia for a Happy New Year Kori to you and your family and! 💜💙💚💛🧡
Happy new year! 💜💙💚💛🧡
Hello Kori. I am new to the adult coloring community. I have bought all the top name brand pencils that I am able to buy one or more pencils from Blick. Therefore, I have no regrets. Thank God. Because I have spent a ton load of money. 😂
My regret is my techniques. I don't know what I am doing. I both Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils first. I love them, but I'm still unsure how to use them. I keep hearing you talk about the smooshing effects. Do you have a tutorial on how to use Prismacolor?
It does take time, and like I mentioned, having too many pencils sometimes puts you at a disadvantage since you are always having to learn.
I regret the Kolour 240 set and the Brutfuner 180, but I love my Castle Arts
Hi, i totally understand your thoughts on castle arts....i despise them. Now the fantasia....i didnt care for the one set i purchased about 20 or so years ago. I had been thinking about the arteza set, but after your thoughts, nah, i be good
I'm weird; I love Prismacolor and enjoy working with Koh-i-Noor Polycolor; they give me way less hand fatigue than Polychromos and I have a light, bony hand to make strokes, lol
The polycolor aren't bad, but the biggest issue is the cost, lack of availability here in the US and all that for me
I don't have many discarded pencils that I don't use any more.
I love my Blicks, gave away 2 sets of Star Joy. I too have more than I will ever use!
Ive always wanted the phoenix, but never bit the bullet.
Your nails are beautiful ❤
Thanks so much!
Blick pencils are not expensive. They are artist quality and inexpensive comparedbto prismacolors
They're gel nails done by a professional -- not press on :)
I would love either set. Looking for a set now to start coloring. I'm not artist just want upgrade to something beside kid pencil set
The Blick pencils are awful and I totally agree with you on the Castle Arts.
Hmmm where did you buy them? They shouldn't act like that at all. Also, are you layering them on or pressing heavily?
Wow! Great deals only if I live in US. I can work with any art materials, no problem!
I LOVE the Arteza and would take them off your hands!!!!
Great video!
The Artezas are being given away (see end of video)
My first color pencil was Castle Arts, soft touch and watercolor pencils, I hated them from the start, can't layer with them, and they r expensive, they refuse to lower the price, I don't know what they r thinking by keeping the price high, even through Christmas.
I regret buying the shuttle art pastel colored pencils (dry very fragile leads)
Also I love your nails! 😊
Yeah I regret those pastels too haha
I would buy your arteza pencils. I've been trying to get them for over a year and they've been sold out.
I should’ve gotten the tins as I put my pencils in similar cases to this video.
I’m glad I’m not alone with the castle arts ones.)
(I won’t be buying more pencils until I used up the castle art ones.
I didn’t like Castle Art’s pencils either! Bought them, and immediately regretted buying them!
Ooo where do you get your pencil cases from? Amazon? Xx
Yes, all on Amazon actually. My go-to place
2025 i want Derwent Drawing, Derwent Lightfast and a nice watercolor pencil set. And that will round out my collect
Those are good choices.
Perhaps money wasted, but it was worth it to find out what really works otherwise you’d be wondering, right?😉
I actually ordered the Poska pencils last night and they will be here today… We shall see if it was a good purchase or they will be returned… I haven’t checked to see if you have reviewed those or not, but I heard they are a dupe for the Holbein at half the price. Trying to minimize and use what I have but I couldn’t help the curiosity got a hold of me. I wanted to try those out! Lol anyway happy new year.🎉🎉🎊
I hear ya on the trying-new-things-until-you-find-your-fave thing! 😂
Good luck with your sell. Happy new year
I appreciate this video so much. Thank you❤
You're welcome! I'm glad you found it helpful.
Yeah I really hated how those turned out
I ditched my Arteza not because of the formula, but because of the colour range not being to my taste.
If the colours I need aren't ready to grab I dont want it
My regrets are Castle Arts pencils! Hard with poor pigment. Nothing positive to say other than they come in a tin…..
I regret buying that much colored pencils.😂😂😂😂 I want paints now 😂😂😂😂😂
I feel you there.
I love my Arrtex ones but agree on the spectrum noir - they were my first and ong they are horrible now!!!
I regret buying the pablos as I just don't like them
The SN ones have potential, if they weren't so impossible to get.
Just for your other members info.... )
I definitely regret the castle arts soft touch
Prismacolor 🎉🎉🎉
I am interested in the arteza
I will definitely enter
I regret my colourblends as well! 😅 and unlike most people I can't stand the kalours! I've regifted the kalours to my niece who loves them! And I'm still holding onto the colourblends because I drove 6 hours to buy them and 6 hours home to be disappointed lol. 😂 so I can't part with them yet!
I love your channel!
Awe thank you so much!
