Jay missed the sound check for the show. The first time he's performed any of these mashups is right there live. That's his genuine reaction to hearing Chester go off for the first time.
As a longtime fan of Linkin Park, I love watching reactions. I don’t know why. It’s just cool to see somebody discovering something I already know they’ll love.
@@WAYG4Life pleaded check out given up to see Chester's full scream. He does a 17 second scream. Tellin ya, unhuman almost unbelievable! You wont be disappointed
This was originally meant as a series by MTV featuring artists every week mixing their songs together. Linkin Park & Jay-Z went into it to make something so incredible that no other episodes could compete. And thats why this is a 'one off' MTV special. Mike Shinoda explained that on a radio interview a few years ago! There is a whole concert on TH-cam you should check out -- its where the Encore/Numb collab came from too!
I guess there is such a thing as too good of a pilot. Imagine being the guy at mtv who thought of this show, and the first episode ends up being so good that no one thinks you can top it and your show gets cancelled... 😂
I'm hooked on reactions. It's so much fun to watch y'all discover stuff we've listened to for years and hear what you think of it. Reanimation is a remix of Linkin Park's first album, Hybrid Theory, featuring various hip hop and rock artists and coming in at 22 tracks. I've had to replace it more than once because I'm rough on CDs and it is 🔥.
There is a whole concert, you just saw the last song!!! what the whole concert! In order to attend this concert you had to be picked by the band and they only had so many passes. This was done in a small club spontaneously and the crowd had no idea Jay z was going to be collaborating with Linkin Park. I would have pay big money to be at this concert!!!! I purchased the CD which has the whole concert and behind the scenes in HD. Thats a must buy if u like these bands
I wish this type of things happened more often. You don't think rock and hip hop go together but this is fire. Imagine the Linkin Park fans that discovered Jay and also Jays fans that discover LP. In a way this is bringing people together while creating some great music.
haven't finished watching the vid yet, but i need to say, i LOVE reaction videos. it makes me SO HAPPY to see people appreciating stuff that's new to them, that they wouldn't normally have seen. it's full of JOY and the world needs JOY so very much. THANK YOU!!
I love how open minded you are to new music. I wish more was like this. I want to be more like this. I knew of this collab and I LOVE. this is straight fire. I don't listen to Jay Z all the time but I recognize his genius and his flow. Chester is a everything and Mike is a Rick Ruben producer
Jay Z was super emotional when Chester died. He did one of their mixed songs and after he just stood on stage for a minute. Seemed like he was close to crying genuinely. The story is MTV decided to do a mashup series. They picked Jay Z and asked him who he wanted to work with on a mixed song. He said Linkin Park. So Jay goes to meet with them and Mike from LP ended up mixing like six songs instead of one. Jay came in with them and re recorded some vocals on the mix and stuff. There’s video of it. So MTV then wants the mashup to perform the song. They did all six. Cameras didn’t record. So Jay and LP were like f it let’s just do the concert again. That’s why they said “thanks for sticking around” to the fans. Because they had to do the concert twice. After this mashup MTV scraped the mashup idea because they knew nothing would ever top this. Facts on facts. Also Jay at the end when Chester screams has this “holy shit” face which gets me every time. I saw LP when they had 1k fans at a concert and loved Jay so when I heard this mashup happened I bought the cd and played it on repeat 😂😂
Thanks for the reactions. Inspired me to go out of my comfort zone. I've been going through hip hop and rap and down a ton of rabbit holes as a result. Props to opening that for me. Music is a journey
Trust me. Its a lot off good music like this being slept on in the hood. I live in Watts. Trust me, nobody over here listens to Linkin Park and my friends tell me that its noise. But they don't know how hard this shit goes. I've been a fan for 20 years.
that entire live show is fire and you should do yourself the service of enjoying it with a blunt or whatever floats your boat. the entire show is exactly that lit, if you can believe it.
This collaboration was brought together by *MTV's Collision Course Linkin Park vs Jay Z* check out the condensed version of the making of this album & concert *live at the Roxy* it's under 20min
Linkin Park put a poll on their web page asking fans to vote for what genre they liked other than rock. They invited everyone that liked hip hop to this show. They made sure they would have fans of both rock and hip hop to this show to make sure the vibe was right. When MTV asked Jay what band or artist he'd like to do a mash up with he picked LP. Little did he know the Mike (the rapper of LP) made an album worth of mash ups instead of just 1 song like MTV wanted.
Here's the thing about reaction videos. This mash-up EP came out in 2004. And it was the fifth major release by Linkin Park that I'd heard at that time. Hybrid Theory, Reanimation, Meteora, Live in Texas, and Collision Course. Do you know how much I would give to be able to watch this for the first time all over again? To be able to go back and hear Chester's voice for the first time all over again? These reactions are dumb, until they're not. Keep up the good work! I LOVE watching these - as an OG Linkin Park fan for 21 years, these reactions really put a smile on my face!
Serendipity, but personally i like how Mike cups the mic. The filter fits the cop character talking over the radio a bit more. Also, I cant say why you never heard of this before, but I used to watch 106 & Park and they never talked about Linkin Park XD
Yo Best! If you loved this, you gotta check out the other Collision Course tracks as well from this concert. They did 6 tracks together and they're all completely lit! Honestly, this colab was the best mashup colab I've ever seen in music. The behind the scenes videos of them making the album together in the studio are just as cool.
Man I gotta say I’m only 20 seconds into the video or whatever but you comments about why reaction videos are awesome because they expose people to music they might not ordinarily listen to is straight truth. I’m a punker/metal head from Australia (and I’m white) and nothing on TH-cam gives me more joy than hip hop people discovering the music I’m into. I love hip hop myself, I grew up in a very “musically diverse” family where my parents met when they were in a band and it always makes me confused when people are like “I only listen to metal” or “I only listen to Taylor swift” or whatever. Expose your damn self to some new experiences, if you truly love music you’ll either love it or hate it but at least you gave it a shot. Music is soooooo subjective but you’re doing a disservice to yourself if you say “I hate country” and cut yourself to a whole genre that maybe there’s a song or two that broadens your horizons. Keep an open mind people x
New sub. My suggestion is apocalyptica. They play Metallica on four cellos. It’s DOPE. I was lucky enough to see them live and I was stunned at just the sheer skill this takes.
