Thank you so much for making this video and for the clear and understandable instructions! I was close to just plugging in the old timer with the push-button switches on the dial.
This has been the best I have yet found to understand scheduling of Alexa. It shoudl not be this difficult, but thank you for making it easier. I appreciate the help.
Thank you! Been trying to figure out how to do this for a min now, kept trying to tell Alexa to do it but she would just turn the lights on or off and needed this schedule for my pets lights! Thank you for the easy to follow cideo
About the 4 hours wait time: remember that you can add actions as many as you want. So, I wanted my lights turned on for 6 hours, so I added another 2 hours of wait option
Excellent walk through explanation...so helpful! I just received my Hue lights and have them in my terrace. The only frustrating thing is that the timer is limited to only 4 hours. How strange. Thanks again for the video!
@@ChardTheTechGuy Hello Chard...do you know why my hue lights dim about 10-15 minutes before they are scheduled to turn off? I just can not figure this out. I do not have them set to dim . Even the Tapo lights do that. So frustrating!
Hi, great videos thankyou. I can ask my alexa how long to a specific date , but can I add this into a routine so it tells me at a specific time? Thankyou, ken Leeds UK
Great video but, what can I do to keep these lights on for more than 4 hours. I want them to come on at Sunset and stay on until midnight which at this time of year is 5.5 hours. I wonder if you know of any apps that will do this?
Since sunset is not always at the same time the best way would be to set two routines. Set one routine to bring them on at sunset and another routine to turn them off at midnight.
Thanks for the video. I have set routine for my outdoors lights to go on at sunset and a routine to go off at sunrise. The issue I’m having is that lights go on at sunset but sometime in the middle of the night the outdoor light are off. I then turn them back on and then they’ll go off at sunrise. I can’t figure out why it will not stay on until sunrise. Any suggestions? Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you
I understand that I can make a routine to put a light on at sunset, but how can I make the routine to turn off the light at sunrise? If I use scheduling, it gives me only 4 hours which is not enough, since I would need for example from 7pm to 6am which is 11 hours. is it possible to choose sunset and sunrise? That would be perfect for me.
Thanks for making a video but can you put your face in a small pip box and have the Alexa screen larger. So that we can see exactly what your doing thanks As well can you add 2 wait actions to get more then 4 hours ?
So I want to make a routine to turn a light on and off, but can I still turn it on verbally when it is off? Will that disturb the scheduled routine? Separate on-off manual operation in addition to the set routine. Thanks.
I can’t seem to find a power off timer for my echo show 8 because I like to listen to music on it but if I forget to power it off I don’t want it running the whole night?
I set to routines to cut my porch light on with one routine at 8:15pm and another routine to cut it off at 7 am. That way there isn’t the 4 hr only window
The exact information I needed, thanks Chard for this presentation. To Amazon Alexa Developers: Four hour timer maximum needs to be extended.
Thank you so much for making this video and for the clear and understandable instructions! I was close to just plugging in the old timer with the push-button switches on the dial.

Glad it helped!
Great video! Thank you!!
Could you stack multiple "wait X hours" if 4 hours is the limit could i add multiple of those in a row?
Thanks for the video. Question: How can I set a 15-minute 15 -off repeat timer.
Any idea when Amazon is going to allow date ranges when setting timers? Like Dec 1st through Dec 31. Or, only on Oct 31st.
That would nice - but not available yet - hope that's something we'll see in future updates
Excellent video, thank you!!
Using these switches to control green house pumps and lights powered by solar panels and inverters.

Jesus Christ I spent like an hour just to figure out how to have my lights turn on and off at a certain time.
Me too, their app is not user friendly!

Very helpful video thanks!

Why we have to use "wait" between "ON" & "OFF" ?

Good job of explaining but Alexa has made such a simple action exceeding cumbersome to program.
This was helpful thank you
Glad it was helpful! You're welcome!
Very clear, thank you.
Thanks for showing this. Can you add more "waits" to get the delay longer than 4 hours?
Yes you canadd another wait, add the additional time you want for the routine and than off again on the routine
Thanks George
Thank you so very much.

Great! I always get confused how to do this. Technology is not easy for me.🥺
I try to keep it simple as possible
I don't see Schedule. Is it date and time?
How do I turn it off?
Thanks…
Time to update your vid
Too fast. Still don’t understand.
