We absolutely love your videos and can't count the times we've used your recommendations and have been so pleased! Thank you for taking the guesswork out of finding the perfect camping spots!
Thanks for these excellent recommendations Dude!! We've only been to one of these parks so we look forward to exploring places we haven't been to before!
You had better get on the ball man! It has taken me almost 7 years to get to all of these parks! Just you wait for the next three Texas State Park videos! absolutely beautiful! Thanks for watching!
I recently retired and have been following you on the tube. Thank you brother for what you do. My wife and I are making a list, so far we have 4 down and more to go. We are trying to do 1 or 2 parks per month. Keep up the good work.
I am excited for you! This thing started out as kind of a lark but quickly turned into a mission! Have you checked out you map?....duderv.now.site/your_campground_map Will Yall be attending the first annual "Dillo Daze" at Lake Whitney State Park in Feb? I do hope to see you there!
@@DudeRV we might be on our to California in February. I’ll check out the website. It’s our first go at it. We are trying to staying within a 4 hour radius of Big D. Thank you for your service brother. I also retired from Uncle Sam. 36 years with US CUSTOMS🙏🇺🇸🍺. See you on the tube. I’ll look into your website
Years ago a group of friends and myself camped at Lake Mineral Wells state park. During the night on our stay we kept hearing voices that sounded like an intercom and we got curious. The next morning my buddy,my brother and myself got close to where we thought these voices were coming from. We saw a huge building and people walking in and out so my brother walked thru some brush and approached a lady who was coming out. She got alarmed and pulled a gun on him saying "what are you doing here??" My brother responded with," we heard voices all night and we traced it to here, what is this place?" Her response was---"this is a minimum security prison facility".... So yeah--- ill never forget that. Thank God we all didnt get shot...
When are you doing a 2022' TOP 5???!!! Excited to see this year's top 5. Now that you have been to more park on the Texas map! Thank you for what you do Dude. I appreciate you video reviews.
Brazos Bend is definitely a great S.P. and you were correct in your description but you missed a couple of super important points. One would be the telescope available (I believe you have to have tickets for now) and the great little museum with fabulous displays. The rangers were also super!
As the time of our visit the nature center was closed for the season and the observatory was only open on Saturdays and you had to have a ticket. Thanks for the insider info and thanks a whole bunch for watching!
absolutely love your channel, so glad we found you.. mom and I are going full time next year and your videos have been such a blessing!! my only request would be to know what the cost of each site runs.. thanks again for all you do!!!
HI Bob. I'm glad you enjoyed Brazos Bend State Park and put it on your list. Too bad you only saw one gator. Most of the time on a sunny day they are sunning up on the trails. Plus meeting one of your fans was also a plus I bet, lol. Take care.
I have been working on that video today! That is such a beautiful park! It is always great to meet my tribe! Especially when they take the time to come find me eating wings! Thanks for watching!
FYI. Calaveras and Braunig lakes on the edge of San Antonio are full of blue tilapia. You can also catch red drum a saltwater fish 🐟 that can get pretty big.
Thanks for the info! I did not even know there were campsites in that area! I have added them to my list. Do you know if the same rules for salt water apply to the Red Drum?
First and foremost, thank you for your service. Your videos are great and I used them to reserve a specific spot at Lake Corpus Christi State Park because the pics on their website aren't very good and don't show the full view of the surroundings. I wanted water and electricity and your reviews on Opossum's Bend in the park was awesome. We do tent camping, but one day I will get a popup when the prices for new or used are not as ridiculous as they are now.
It makes me so happy to hear that my videos are helping Yall go camping! That is why I do what I do! We really enjoyed our brief stay at Corpus Christi SP and look forward to a return. It is funny, I am kinda regressing and enjoying spending time tent camping! Thanks for watching!
bob,,,you've gotta go back to brazoria in the warm,,,summer time,,,you will have a ball videoing the alligators here,,,alligators there,,,,alligators, alligators, everywhere,,,, you will be amazed to see them everywhere, and stay over the weekend for the observatory which is a fun thing,,,just be careful walking back in the dark....for an update on fairfield,,,the Big Brown power plant opened in the 70's but closed down in 2018,,,,, it was and still is a popular fishing spot,,,, but may be losing its favor since the plant's warming waters may deminish in the coming years, thanks for the video,,,,always a good show !
WE do plan on a return in warmer weather. Yappy really wants to go back because she spent all of our visit with her sprained ankle on ice and did not get to see anything. I did not know that the Power Plant had been closed, Im not surprised but I am sad to hear that. Thank you so much for watching!
I’m at Fairfield State Park now, and so are you. The power plant has been closed for several years and the Talapia are gone. Bass fishing is excellent.
hello from the sunny vibrant ozarks dude rv!! are going to do a corp of engineers top 5 too. i enjoyed another 2 cups of fresh roasted hot columbian while seeing your reviews of precious time and great effort to entertain and be informative! ive been to all your top 5 with bob sandling being my favorite. tight lines and cheers!!
Dude! that is like 4 cops today! I am kicking some coffee butt!! LOL! I have considered a COE top 5 but am kinda on the fence. I have quite a few left to visit before I can consider myself even close to expert on the subject. Thanks so very much for watching!
What are you basing your opinion on for top 5 parks? Quietness/solitude, camping sites/distancing, fishing, hiking/accessibility, flora/fauna, wildlife, etc. just curious!
I did not use a specific set of variables for my selection. I went down the list of Texas State Parks that I have camped in and selected the parks that I really enjoyed when I was there and the ones that I would love to return to. All of the points you mention contribute to making a great RV experience and always factor into getting excited about going back. Thank you so very much for watching!

Retiree just bought my annual pass, I have 50amp (can camp anyplace really) fall season, I’m asking for a list of parks to visit, hope for a cluster of them to avoid massive gas bill. Thanks for this great video
That is awesome! I have just the thing for you! I created a Google map just for you! here is the video and map on the DudeRV.com web site... duderv.now.site/your_campground_map I hope this helps you have fun and thanks for watching!
Love your channel and most of your top 5. Would disagree on #1. I went there last year and since I have a popup camper, I have to rely on facilities. Mineral wells probably had the worst I've encountered. But like you said, to each his own. Keep up the good work!
I am so sad to hear that! on my visit the facilities were dated but clean and serviceable.. I hate nasty restrooms so I get where you are coming from! Thanks so very much for your support and most of all thanks for watching!
Yes the "Big Red" has been closed and torn down. Lake temps are back to normal levels and I believe the Red Drum and Tillipa are no longer in the lake.
we really appreciate all of the effort and info that you provide with your videos. However, could you include the types of hook-ups the various parks have when you tour them. I know hardly and COE campground has full hook-ups, but not sure of what each state park has. Thanks and keep up the great videos-- stay safe out there
I do my best to cover all of the details that is why I create two different videos for every campground that I visit. The Virtual tour will most always have that type of information as I am cruising through the camping loops. Thanks so much for watching!
fun history fact at the time of the mineral wells lakes creation the state didnt have the money so my Grandpa loaned them the money to have the lake built. And my great Grand father was actually born in a dug out just north of where the lake now resides.
according to the TPWD web site 50AMP sites are $26, 30AMP sites are $26, water only sites are $14 and primitive sites are $10. There is a $5 per day entrance fee per person unless you have an annual parks pass. the Annual pass cost around $70 and waives entrance fees, gives you a discount on merchandise and even includes some free nights camping, you will need to check the web site for specifics here...tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/lake-mineral-wells/fees-facilities/campsites
Those two are very beautiful and are nice but they are very crowded, too crowded for my tastes. Who knows, maybe they will make the list next year! thanks for watching!
Went to a Bazos Bend several years ago, saw several gators including one that grabbed and swallowed a guys fishing bobber. Only issue is that on top of the camping fee you have to pay a separate day use fee
Most of your Texas state parks are going to be crowded on the weekends and very much so when school is out. Week days they are all pretty slow except when school is out. Martin Dies Jr is more busy during the winter than in the summer. Right now many campgrounds are very slow due to low lake levels. Thanks for watching! P.S. here is your camping map.... duderv.now.site/your_campground_map
