    Overbuild your axles, under build your motor, that's how you avoid breaking on the trail. I have a stock 3.8 with Front PR44 and Rear Trail 60 with Atlas 4 transfer case and 1350 Tom Woods, on 40 in Creepy Crawlers ... I'm not breaking anything.

    lowered the alternator? hmm... not good with mud/water...

    How would you go going through deep water river crossing with that intake system

  • @RobertPWills
    @RobertPWills 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If I run that intake up around through a snorkel, am I losing anything from what that supercharger is doing? I'm in Fla and water is something I deal with a lot down here- not highway speed make rooster tails, but running properly slow through water but you still get a bow wave.

    for about the same amount of money you could just do an LS swap and have even more power and reliability....or drop a hemi into it but it might cost a little more but with either engine the power mods would be almost limitless as far as what's out there

      @WhiteGravey 9 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      +Brian Finch im sure droping in a hemi or an LS engine and rewiring the entire fucking car is just as ez and bolting on a procharger kit. when was the last time you did a complete engine swap on a modern car? i remember back when i did a cobra engine swap on my 1999 mustang GT replacing every harness in the car was so much fun the funnest part was removing the dash to get the harness in their SO MUCH JOY

      Lots different now swapping in a v8 in a Jk then when we were stuffing 289s into a Willy’s.

    What about reliability?

  • @mrjones944

    I did, what I would consider, mild offroading when I had my 2 JK's. Even then I recall several times when water was well above the tires and few times when water crested the hood momentarily. This kit looks like a recipe for disaster for anybody other than those who will stay on dry land.

      I feel exactly the same way.
      /Rant On/
      With the open element air filter, and the alternator mounted low somebody with this kit is just asking for trouble if they ever had to ford a body of water. Jeep engineers mounted and oriented the alternator the way they did for a reason, and that's to minimize the chance of it being damaged from water incursion.
      People have a right to buy what they want, however buying a product that can potentially have a major negative impact on vehicle survivability is just stupid. Frankly, I think the engineers that built the kit should have done a better job at subsystem packaging if they wanted to make a supercharger that isn't just for use in the high country.
      Aside from the alternator, why with the open element air filter? I have had water up to my air box, and you know what protected my engine from ingesting it, the vertical mini-snorkel molded into the top of the air box cover. Getting rid of an obvious survivability feature is stupid. Just as well, you better be sure you have that filter on the air intake tube secured real well, because the amount of dust it is going to have to contend with without a housing (like an air box) to block any of it is going to be crazy.
      /Rant Off/
      I suppose if you only off road in Utah, then this kit is okay... But no way in hell would I buy it!

    • @mrjones944
      @mrjones944 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      If only Jeep would have offered:
      a. A hemi option
      b. A roots blown 3.6
      c. A diesel
      Then the world would have been right as rain....well then they could offer a real fix for the substandard ball joints. And then make it out of aluminum so the typical Chrysler paint doesnt start showing pinhole rust spots after three years.
      Even after all of the issues, ill probably buy another Wrangler in the future.

    • @WRXXXual
      @WRXXXual 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +mrjones944 I 100% agree with you.
      - Yes for a blown 3.6 L Wrangler.
      - Hell yes for a V8 Wrangler!
      - Oh good fucking lord yes for the 3.0 L turbo diesel V6!!!!
      All with manual transmission :-)

    I'm really confused here my stock jku is rated at 285 hp how does 318 hp equal over a hundred hp gain not making much since here and the ripp supercharger setup does way better what's the price difference is it worth spending a couple hundred bucks to get the ripp

    • @DaShnipa
      @DaShnipa 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +noobtoob nooby Hi Noob, it's because the jeeps dyno around 140HP (pentastar) at the wheels (give or take depending on dyno, heat, elevation etc) so a supercharger on average adds about 130-150RWHP.

    • @855glt
      @855glt 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +noobtoob nooby What you're comparing is the after wheel horsepower with the before crank horsepower.

    • @cheesewheele1014
      @cheesewheele1014 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +noobtoob nooby Thats 318 to the wheels vs 285 at the crank. Take off 20 percent for loss to the tires and you are getting ~228whp. So it is about 100 more hp to the wheels.

    • @corrollaS2010
      @corrollaS2010 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Smile? x your comment is way more informed than DaShnipa I could not figure how I lost 145 hp to the wheels

    • @corrollaS2010
      @corrollaS2010 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      DaShnipa I'm going to take my jku to the dyno and see if your correct I don't see losing a 145 hp never had it on a dyno but I know what I have raced against and there is no way a 145 hp jeep is out running them

    How did you handle the oil filter? Do you have to change the positioning of it or add any other parts or did you work around it? Comparing with the Edelbrock E-force it looks like they've got you beat. :/

    • @Eric-K0ERM
      @Eric-K0ERM 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You do not need to move the fuel filter. The only things you move are the alternator (to make room for the supercharger), transmission cooler (to make room for the intercooler), and the radiator overflow tank (to make room for the air filter). The overflow tank is actually swapped out with a procharger tank.

    ???????? Why not just change the gear ratio to either 4.56, 4.88 or 5.13 to counteract the 35" tires. Throwing hp at it doesn't help the driveline last longer and it would be waaay cheaper. Didn't specify what gears are in it or automatic or manual trans. Most 4 doors are 3.20 gears with a 3.73 option no one looks for and an auto trans. Really pookie preformance right of the line

    Its pretty much bullshit that the JK and JKU dont get v8 options. CJs got i4 through to v8's and tj/yj got 4 cyl 6 cyl options. I just dont get it.

    Why would you run a centrifugal on an engine that needs low-end torque? This type of SC is basically only good for higher RPM numbers. Exactly where you DON'T want it.
