at 6k, the synchro's on these cars suffer, potentially a looser pilot bearing in the crank would reduce the 'spinning' of the layshaft and allow the synchro's to work a little less hard. Then again, this is a sprint racing situation, so the driver is going to focus on overall speed and winning over longevity of gearbox synchro's!
