I entered CEO for BBCF. I’m not great at it but I really love the game. I had no idea who Ryo was but he came up to me when I was practicing before pools and washed me so bad, it wasn’t even funny. Then he just left and I swear to god, it was the most warmed up I’d ever been. I wound up placing 25th at only my second BlazBlue tournament and I can’t wait for CEOTAKU later this year.
Sounds like a villain origin story to me.

I wanted to get sets with him, but he was too busy. It's pretty funny actually because we definitely played a bunch of sets on I think it was Sunday?
CEO got me actually practicing again, my litchi's gonna be demolishing some pools fr, hopefully we can run some sets again in the future cause it was fun!
Jiyuna's biggest fears right now are losing to Stylish mode Kagura, and losing to Silver rank Kunoichi in DnF.
Monarch showing his impeccable high level defense and Ryo's offense with Relius is no joke either. This was a great match from the two of them.
On the BBCF server, we have a Relius who has over 10k matches with the character who wipes us, but answers questions. So Relius absolutely intimidates me.
Seeing Monarch block everything in that super + mixup was insane.
If monarch didn't want to die he would simply not get hit
When I see other people playing I think “would have blocked that”, but when I see Monarch I think “Damn, I would got hit there”

Rollback has to have substantially closed the gap, but since blazblue isn't a mainstage game anymore, I don't think the overall level of skill isn't nearly as high as it was on say 2016, 2017, or 2018.
I feel like at this point these 'checking out BlazBlue sets and commenting over them' might be my favorite kind of Jiyuna videos
I wish I got into BBCF when it came out and not a few years too late after the rollback update. If we ever get another BB I'm going in, but in the meanwhile I really love seeing these tournament matches
Watching ANY match for me, I see someone mixing and I’m just saying “I blocked that” or “how did you not block that?”
But once I actually play the game, “I got hit” and “How do I block this mix?” I get humbled REAL QUICK

Finally some Blazblue content. This set had me so tight that i forgot to breath and was out of breath after each round.

Damn. I would rather be only able to A, B, C, into special and have Monarch's defense than have godlike combos. How he's able to block like that is crazy!!

Feels like I’m watching a different game when top players like monarch are playing. Great set
I think monarch is really skillful, but without a doubt japan is still better. Although alot of players have moved on to other games if they came back and grinded again they would definitely come back on top
Japan and America moved on to other games. Except for America's melee players. Those guys are sweat masters.
Monarch is also very close to Fenrich's skill level in that the two have very even games.

You know I have never seen a player where you are afraid of their defense like Monarch. It was honestly eye opening seeing what a player like that can do in BlazBlue. I appreciate you still focusing on more niche games in the fgc. Theirs still a lot of gold content here man and I appreciate it.

I feel like monarch is making a statement that highlow blockstrings on an old game arent a real mixup lmao
The way BlazBlue CF does mixups is such a big part of why defense looks so cool (DBFZ as well, to a degree).
Outside of some setups, almost every canned mixup is very reactable if you're looking for it, but there's SO MUCH to keep track of.

He got mad and went into speedrun mode, got 4 perfect out of 6 rounds. But he met his kryptonite. The one character that almost no one can block forever, Valkenhayn. wolf overhead alone is probably enough to put Valkenhayn at top 8 characters. There are people saying Jona should switch to Mai but I disagree, he probably figured that Monarch will probably have no trouble blocking Mai's mixup. Lambda Valkenhayn MU imo is quite equal, Valken win if he gets in, Lambda win if she can snipe wolf form before Valk gets in. Since Valk need 9 frames from wolf to human, 3? frames for wolf inv and Lambda super has only 1 frame after superflash, I think saving for the super/CA to knock Valk out is probably better than spending them to RC trying to mix Valk up.
Jiyuna is more entertaining than most commentators.
