I just finished getting my F-250 snow plow truck running again. I won't say its cheaper than this setup because I am constantly repairing it in the hopes my used plow will work an entire season without a break down. I think Wranglerstar's system is going to be maintenance free for quite a few years. Yanmar sponsor, brilliant.

With the blower that tractor is a snow country game changer. Can't wait to watch it save the day. Not many non 4 wheel drive trucks same result with this tool. Every attachment better than the last.

This season I have the pleasure of working with a 54" PTO direct drive, front mounted blower, on a John Deere 2032R... this thing is a beast!
For home use, your blower looks overkill aF!
Either way... enjoy your new heavy equipment! I know I will!

We have a great Massey Ferguson 6714S (120 pto hp) with the IVT transmission (infinite speeds forwards & reverse) and a front 3pt hitch, PTO & hydraulics. We get alot of lake affect snow from Lake Michigan. We have a 84" snow blower on the front and a sand 84" rear mounted sand drop spreader. This allows us to plow our 3/4 mile driveway, sometimes our roads, our family's driveways and even the back trails to our cattle barn. We can blow the deep snow (24" sometimes) and drifts that can be up to 6' deep in front and when we clear a nice path, we can drop sand to make the driveways safe. It is a great setup.

That will be so nice to maneuver with the blower on the front! My Uncle had an old Ford tractor with a blower on the back, it was good to use, but this will be so much better for extended periods of time!

very nice, after last winter with my back i started my search for a tractor that fit what i could afford to spend. after much searching i ended up getting a new holland 38 horse with a 64 inch rear mount snow blower.
would have liked the front mount on the loader as we get huge banks up in northern maine and people pay to have them moved and it would help make the tractor payment but the cost was to high for me so i will use the loader to dig the banks and drop it where the blower and throw it as far as it can.
this tractor has been a game changer, unloading wood pellets is a snap with the pallet forks other work i did from july to last month would have taken me years to do manually got done with very little physical effort and no damaged back.
i considered Yanmar but was unable to locate a used tractor in my price range a new one with less features than my current one would have set me back almost 20k more although to be fair the new holland doesnt have a cab and the yanmar i specd did have a cab.the other consideration is closesest Yanmar dealer to me is 2.5 hour drive. the new holland dealer is a 20 minute drive

Cody, do yourself a favor, when you rework the power outlet, take it off the grill guard and run it up the loader boom with the new auxiliary hyd lines. Make sure your bottom link arms re-engage after hooking the power unit and the PTO shaft doesn't pitch on the draw bar if the arms relax. Can't wait to see it in a big snow.

That really is a nice unit. I couldn't hear any noise from it. At least none that the mic picked up.
A suggestion for the future, Skid mounted, PTO driven, generator, large enough to run the entire property in a power outage situation. You could set up a transfer switch in the tractor barn, and install an exhaust hose to clamp on the tractors exhaust pipe. That way you can run the tractor in the barn. It would be economical to run, compared to the gas units. Especially if you have several days of outage.

Yeah I like it. Kinda reminds of an older design that has an independent hydraulic reservoir you could mount on a pickup.
When you overheat your fluid you have to stop working. Also the extra weight gives you more grip in the snow. Good design.
Cracks me up all Cody has do is pop up with some new gadget and the negative people come out of hiding. Then all hear is "I don't like it, I have one better I got for a dime, yak yak yak and my favorite is the shade tree engineers out there.... oh sorry got carried away.
Have a great Thanksgiving Cody and family!

It may have been for this video that I told about my boss getting a similar setup by John Deere. They put the hydraulic pump on the PTO, and ran hydraulic lines under the length of the tractor, to connect with the blower in front. I had talked him out of a rear blower for reasons similar to Cody's.
Then we began getting less snow in winter. When a heavier snow did arrive, Boss was too sick to go out and hook up the blower. Poor guy, he hardly got to use it! Then he retired and moved to be near the medical community near Portland, Oregon. I felt so bad for him. He had waited years to get a good unit. And with a little coaching, John Deere really had come through for him.
    Hey, we miss you Mark.

Eirik Adsen still far better than owning a pos indian built mahindra. Cub used yanmar power for years due to their reliability...so there's a good chance their tractors as a whole are decent. At roughly $30k with the cab & 3 pt hitch, yannis are far cheaper than a comparable deere.

John Deere has used something similar for years. I have a Kubota L6060 60 HP with front blower and rear box blade. The blower runs off the mid-PTO. The shoot angle and flapper angle are hydraulic and are controlled off my loader joy stick. I live in Upstate NY, so I am quite familiar with snow. Last year was a light snow year. Maybe 150" rather than over 200. I used my box blade far more than the blower.

  • @SManninen
    @SManninen 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

That elecrical plug for blower should be attached to the loader itself, somewhere near hydraulic connectors and not on the front guard. With current setup if you raise blower over the hood, it will break or at least pull the plug out :)

I too am most impressed with this snowblower unit. I believe the unit is based on the Oshcosh design used on runways. Does anyone know when this unit will be available for sale. With the universal mounts this unit will not be Yanmar specific. Here in BC we have the same wet heavy snow but with the fast rotation I would be concerned with throwing rocks so might be a good idea to have a chat with your neighbors and advise them to have their yards cleaned up before you arrive and the snow falls. Beautiful unit and I like the idea of having the blower in the front instead of the back. Thanx and good job on the site

A camera mounted on the power unit and on the blower will give you an extra set of eyes to know just how far you are from things you don't want to hit without getting out of the tractor cab.
Have you staked out the driveway and objects to avoid yet? The bamboo garden stakes make great sacrificial markers as they are cheap and will not damage the blower if they do get pulled in.

Back in the day my grandparents ran one of the largest daycare centers in Hood River. They had a circular driveway and a little kubota tractor. One year back in the mid 80's they got 6 feet of snow. Every couple hours my grandfather was out there with the blade on that tractor going backwards to push the snow. Maybe an 1/8 of a mile total on that driveway. If he had this he could have slept a couple hours more.

I like Yanmar's engineering ideas I understand why they wanted to mount the tools forward looking, and having a separate hydraulic pump pto powered does not strain the hydraulic pump nearly as badly as the internal hydraulic pump in the tractor which is much more difficult to maintain. Kudos Yanmar!

Do you work for Yanmar? This is pretty awesome.
The reason it is all so heavy duty is because of the affect below freezing temperatures can have on steel, due to its lattice structure. Depending on the alloy, as you approach a certain temperature below 0 Celsius the yield strength of the material can be a very small fraction of the original, and result in breakage. It's a common problem they have to design for on oil rigs in Northern Canada. Most steel products will have a "T10" (quoted because it's not a very common term and is hard to google) which is the temperature at which it's yield strength is 10% of what it would be at room temperature. Oil rigs have to use a much more expensive steel that is within the required factor of safety at -45 C
Fortunately, materials like Aluminum do not exhibit this loss in yield strength (also due to its different lattice structure), hence why you can see those aluminum pieces on the bottom and sides of the blower. They'll be directly in the snow and most prone to hitting rocks or other debris that could damage the sled.
For those that are curious, the likely reason it isn't made entirely out of aluminum is cost.

Hi Cody. Wow! That looks like a great unit. Using hydraulics to power the blower instead of a nightmare mechanical driveshaft is pretty slick. The fan to cool the hydraulics is a nice touch. I personally have 1.5 miles of driveway to plow and we get a lot of snow at times. My solution is a front-mounted snowplow blade, and a pull-behind 7 foot wide snowthrower that runs off of the PTO. So I can drive forward, plow forward, and snowblow forward. For my application, I need the ability to push and blow snow. This was the ideal solution for me.

Hi Cody, to improve the performance of your blower I recommend either spray waxing the inside of the chute or auger and actually for convenience pledge furniture polish works GREAT for snow blowers been using that for years here in Northwest Ohio and it makes a huge difference. Also there are videos on here of people putting rubber on the impeller to reduce the gap to improve the snow flow out of the chute. There are a lot of videos on it and it’s something I’d like to try if I had a 2 stage, but all of my blowers are single. Hope this helps and I hope you see this comment. Happy belated thanksgiving!

I can't wait to see that blowing snow!
That adjustable 3-point is sweet. My aunt had a JD and you had to mess around a lot to get the arms on to the implement.

Cody, you need to create a weekend camp we all can attend/pay for called men, not snowflakes and teach us who aren't as fortunate, how to do these things, and the science/magic behind it.
Can't wait to see it on action!!

That's a nice set up . i just kinda think that tank might be a little bit small at least it has a cooler for it . 27 years of doing snow removal at the KCI International airport the one i used would throw 1250 pounds of snow a second with a 850 hp cat just for the thrower named the Terminator

Make sure to put lots of dielectric grease on the 7 and 4 pin connectors. Helps a lot with the corrosion

its pretty obvious another what was once a good youtube has sold out on us says the backhoe or box blade is to big on the back of the tractor and yet that crazy power unit sticks out just as far if not farther than either of those.

Really? What tape measure were you using? My backhoe for my smaller tractor sticks out farther than that thing does on his big tractor. I don't remember him saying anything about a box blade. My box blade is very short and if I make it more useful with 3 blades instead of 1 it will be heavier and longer.

I'm glad you will be able to make money by using this snow blower in winter. For your safety on the road at night, It's a must to have light in from of the blower and reflector and light on your bypass hydraulic pump. You have electricity in back and in front, so you will have power fir lights. I'm sure Yanmar will have some good safety and utility light.

If you put a horse trailer mat down under the blower and plow it helps if from sliding trying to get it on.
