Sorry about the length of this video guys! I was aiming to make this between 10-20 minutes long but simply couldnt it it all into that time frame. Let me know if you prefer longer tutorials like this, or shorter tutorials, THANKS!!!
+Ste Bradbury Design Definitely prefer the longer tutorials, you never know the things you leave out, someone else could like. For this type of video especially, since we dont know what you're getting at (there was no predefined end graphic), I think it doesn't need to be short. Thanks!
No need to apologize for the length, this was a great tutorial. Details are vital to the learning process. Great job, keep them coming. Big fan of your work!!
it's awesome that people like you exist, and aren't selfish to share their knowldege, there's a special place in Heaven for you Steve, thanks for the video, it's amazing and so informative! P.S. Why the hell would you dislike this video ?
Hey Stephen, I've started hand written lettering not long ago, but the improvements are significant, both working in Illustrator and actual writing on paper. You tuts helped a lot during the way. Just came to say, thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I really appreciate that you still have this amazing tutorials Up, even though it has been already about 2 years, I'm glad that I got to still find it and learn so much from it, but I notice that you haven't done any more tutorials lately which it is too bad because there's still a lot of designers who are trying to catch up and learn from great designers like you. Thank you!
Your video has been really usefull to me. You say it's not a guide.. well, believe me, it is more than that. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills
You are simply the best!! The most useful and informative channel! thank you so much to share all this information. I adore all your tutorials! wish you all luck of the world! )
Awesome walktrough! And yeah, me and many others would really appreciate another lettering tutorial! That'd be sick if u have the time man! Keep working hard, cheers
Thank you so much. I just started hand lettering and I find your videos and tutorials really helpful. Great job, very easy to understand! Love your workIf you could make more of those videos that would be great, I watched the one with the word hole but I was looking for more of the alphabet after, maybe you could post some exemples only on your FB page?Again, great work and thanks for sharing!
really dope videos bro I love the way you explained and broke it down for us. I'm just starting in illustrator so thank you keep up the great work. you videos are great help.
Awesome man ! I'm a big fan since Fallen Design and I saw how you progress so don't stop man (I don't think that's a project) and make some dope haha ! ;-)
love it man..thank You for sharing this with us..appreciate it.. and.. love Your new intro on the begining of vids.. how the strokes flow with music.. great!
This tutorial is great! Question: Would creating an offset path be an easier way to get the outline like you did in the 22:25 mark? Just a couple of clicks instead of going through layers and what not.
Thanks bro! And if I'm being honest, I'm not too sure what that is ahha I'm good with illustrator in terms of managing to achieve the looks I want, but I don't really know all of these different ways haha once I find a way of doing something, I usually just end up sticking to that method. However, this is a somewhat long process and if there's a way to do it much faster, I will certainly have a look and see how that is done :) thank you for the heads up man!
Awesome tutorial :) +RelentlessStudio is right, you should make a tutorial for finding clients, how and where to talk with them, how to introduce pricings, doing adjustments etc..
+Martin Lemaire I couldnt really do a tutorial on that, to get clients you just need to be active and put out a lot of your work, at least that is how it worked for me, and of course having my TH-cam channel has helped gain a lot of exposure to my work, so the majority of the clients I get find me through my TH-cam channel. I know that's probably not so helpful, but in all honesty, I dont know what else to say since this is how it worked for me, and it worked very well. Just showcase your best work everywhere you can! As for speaking to the clients, being formal or informal usually depends on the client, if they message you formally, then you reply formally, but if they're sort of laid back and informal, speak to them at way. Never bring up the pricing at the start, unless of course they're asking, but if not, speak to them in depth about the design and try and help them improve their brand, you dont want them to see you as an expense, you want them to see you as a work partner and that you WANT to help them, so when it comes to the pricing, they're not just looking at you as something they're spending money on, it's a good investment. Just build a relationship with the client and help them improve their brand, throw ideas back and forth etc. Hope this helps! :D
+Ste Bradbury Design how come when I so to merge/unite the piece I'm doing together I lose all the and stuf?? I just get this weird looking outline of the 3d shadow?
this is dope! I need a logo made. I downloaded illustrator but I don't have the time or can even draw at that lol . how much would you charge for something like this?
Hey Stephen, I was wondering if there was a more affordable way to get illustrator and wondered if you had any tips for an aspiring graphic designer.Keep up the great vids can't wait to watch more!
+George Griffin Creative cloud is affordable up till 3 yrs ago when creative cloud was available you would pay up to $8000 for a master collection that being all Adobe software products now you pay around $40 aud a month and $15 if a student
I have been following your work for so long, I really love it. I have a question though, do you have any references/guidelines for the type you choose? To give you ideas on letter forms and such, or just "wing it"? Thanks.
how long have you been doing this? Ive just started out, filled 3 books already altho 2 were very small... and any suggestions on pens to get? i have 4 dual tip brush pens *forgot the name, starts with a T* and a BITT pen or something like that
+Pinky D Ive been doing this for almost 2 years, roughly, and if you're filling books, that means you're practising a lot which is good man! Are you referring to the ABT Tombow Brush Pens? If so, yeah, buy those man, they're great pens! Check out CultPens.com and search for brush pens, there are loads of different ones, but I personally stick with Tombow most of the time, although I use Crayola pens a lot like in this video. All the pens I used in this are linked in the description ;)
+V Rodolfo To get this feature you must have Adobe Illustrator CC 2014 or higher I think. It might just be Adobe Illustrator CC, not sure if you need the 2014 edition, but Im think it is
+Martin Drahovský my inspiration comes from so many great designers, it would be hard to name them all. I would recommend following some of the community type pages on instagram such as @goodtype @type.gang @calligritype etc etc, there are loads of them out there who share the work of great designers! Thats where pretty much all of my inspiration comes from.

Ste Bradbury Design man, thanks for tips. You Are also my inspiration, becouse of you, Ive started lettering, and fall in love with Illustrator, thanks.
+Tuergriff3 Yeah man, but at the moment, I am really focusing a lot on my lettering since it's something I want to get really good at and of course that requires a lot of practise! :D Im hoping to soon start working on some Logos as well as Logotypes :)
+XPR Mitch (XPRMitch) Just googled "Over Clothing" and that is actually a brand. I called this "Over Supply" purely because I thought the word looked nice, no other reason :)
from my personal experience , it "may" be harder, at least for me. Since as to get the best/accurate accent or strokes, you have to write it with ur own hand and then vectorize it with pentool which is better to be used with mouse. sorry for the english tho.
+Egotic Yeah I studied Graphic design at college for 2 years, the course was called - Level 3 Extended Diploma in Graphic Design. Finished that course with straight distinctions. Now Im in university studying Graphic Design further, and this course is called - Bachelor Graphic Design (Honours). I have just started my second year here out of the 3 year course. Hope this helps :)

thx a lot, though i'm new to illustrator, understand everything clearly :)
THANK YOU!
Love your videos man! Incredible work! Could you make a video explaining how you created the intro to your videos? Im guessing you used after effects?
good stuff
how long have you been doing this? Ive just started out, filled 3 books already altho 2 were very small... and any suggestions on pens to get? i have 4 dual tip brush pens *forgot the name, starts with a T* and a BITT pen or something like that

hi ste, i curious about how can i make the pen tool display the line before placing the point. By the way your videos are wonderful x__x
+V Rodolfo To get this feature you must have Adobe Illustrator CC 2014 or higher I think. It might just be Adobe Illustrator CC, not sure if you need the 2014 edition, but Im think it is
thanks ^^
Do you have a tutorial on how you made your intro, where your logo does that outline thing?
+Ste Bradbury Design what's the first pen that you used in the video ?
nice video thanks ! :)
can you make a video on how to do this style please?
also instead of using a stroke you could go Object > Path > Offset Path, its much easier
+UsualDesigns Ahhhh yeah! I knew there was a quicker way, I just couldnt remember how to do it haha!
Ste Bradbury Design love your work man!
Nice Letter - you best....
May i ask you, What is your inspiration for lettering styles Ste?
+Martin Drahovský my inspiration comes from so many great designers, it would be hard to name them all. I would recommend following some of the community type pages on instagram such as @goodtype @type.gang @calligritype etc etc, there are loads of them out there who share the work of great designers! Ste Bradbury Design
man, thanks for tips. You Are also my inspiration, becouse of you, Ive started lettering, and fall in love with Illustrator, thanks.
well done mate =D
awesome
Norm!..
Thanks
champagne in my glass polo on my shirt!
what's the first pen that you used in the video ?
sry, how u copy in the same place and same position automaticaly?
Can you tell me how you do the intro of your video ??
When you do the O, do you make it one whole piece or are you deselecting and then continuing.
Do you use a drawing pad for your work?
Nah mate, I have a graphics tablet but don't really use it so much. For things like vectoring I tend to just stick with a mouse
I subscribed
Do you do Other Logos than handlettering types?
+Tuergriff3 Yeah man, but at the moment, I am really focusing a lot on my lettering since it's something I want to get really good at and of course that requires a lot of practise! :D Im hoping to soon start working on some Logos as well as Logotypes :)
Over... That rings a bell lol
+XPR Mitch (XPRMitch) Just googled "Over Clothing" and that is actually a brand. I called this "Over Supply" purely because I thought the word looked nice, no other reason :)
you're the fucking best.
Nice shirt
Just curious, wont it be easier to use a drawing tablet?
from my personal experience , it "may" be harder, at least for me.
Since as to get the best/accurate accent or strokes, you have to write it with ur own hand and then vectorize it with pentool which is better to be used with mouse.
sorry for the english tho.
at 8:10 the first one for me was relly nice
Did you go uni or college? if so what courses did you take, if you did go :)
Thanks.
Thanks man, much appreciated did you do level 2 first? or just level 3
+Egotic Level 2 is like GCSE i think and Level 3 is for college
It seems like you need a certain type of pen to do that font style
22:32 sorry, why not just add a black stroke and fill it with white to 1 layer? Im noob.
should open your image as a template layer, much better :)
"over and over again"
+Player 1 & McPooks hahah yeah I honestly didnt even realise this when I was recording it, but when I watched it back I clocked it haha
first ?
Emailed you regarding getting some designs made by you. Please contact me back as soon as possible. Thank you.
