Just got mines 4 day ago and I must say I am not disappointed. The load time is so fast that I haven't played my PS4pro since getting this machine, and all the 3rd party games that's on both system I play on the XBOX Series S exclusively now.
Got this as a gift randomly from a family member. I've been Playstation my whole life really, so I didn't think I'd be using this series S very much... Boy was I wrong. Once I saw the old titles on game pass I ended up spending a lot more time on it and it's really bizarre playing GTA 4 again with it looking so crisp. Playing older titles with enhancements is so wonderful. Playing some childhood classics like RDR, Max Payne, GTA 4, Bully, Halo etc. Has been so much fun, and on top of that, current/very recent games are released and available to download and play. I'm very happy with this console still and may even upgrade to an X, to make Xbox my hub for entertainment. What a great little console
I have the series S and the series X. The X is a bit nicer ig but there's not a huge difference for now. The S is next gen for sure. Every thing loads super fast and I really like the look of the S. Both were played on a 4k 120 hz tv. I couldn't be more pleased with my xboxes. I also had a PS5 but I just preferred all the perks that Microsoft offers so I sold it. I also think the PS5 looks hideous but that's not the reason I didn't want it lol. I may purchase one again in the future when they release the next model if there are ps5 games I want to play but for now I'm content with my Xbox.
Just got my Series S from my Wife for Christmas( 2021) and I love it !!!! Great Job Xbox cause I always was a PlayStation console owner but this year I decided to give Xbox a shot and I’m impressed
@@nali5731 I think it will. Of course due to the weaker gpu, we'll get shadows with lower resolutions, and shorter draw distance in most games. But it will be able to run everything at a great 60fps performance due to the Zen2 CPU which is pretty damn good for games nowadays.
This console isn’t as strong as the ps5 , digital or physical . But it’s better than the PS4 , and any Xbox one . So if you’re coming from a PS4 or Xbox one this is def an upgrade and it’s cheap .300$ is the reason it’s worth it . You’re getting a next generation console for 300$ let that sink in . It’s the same price as a switch . I highly recommend if you want a next generation console but don’t want to pay alot of money . Or if you can’t get your hands on the Xbox series X or ps5 because so far at least where I’m from the series S is pretty easy to get . It’s so worth it I can’t express that enough .
Coming a from a person who still has an old 360 Elite, I can say it is a night and day difference. Don't let the 1440p and 512G fool you, the Series S is a great console !
I have last gen games like resident evil 7 and outer worlds on the internal SSD and they load very fast though so do my ps4 games on my external SSD when playing Doom eternal and last of us remastered and part 2 - just takes 20 seconds to continue on my game.
I just got my Xbox series s because my PS4 decided to fail on me and honestly I am so surprised the loading speeds everything is so crazy the FPS is really smooth and everything about the consoles just so nice this has to be my best console yet
Just bought one of these not gamed in years the consoles cheap price and game pass is what attracted me to the X box series S. looking forward to getting restarted.
I do want the Series X but as my budget is kinda limited I'll probably go with the S, $300 bucks for a next gen console and with $15dlls a month you don't need to worry about having something to play. PS can have all the exclusives they want but I really like to save money. The Switch is another story, just for Smash, MK and Zelda is worth the price IMO.
@@nali5731 honestly I'd wait a little bit until Series X is easier to get and buy Series X. I was gonna get one myself but there wasn't any available at the time. I got a series S and the best thing so far( cause I only got a 1080 60 screen) is the load times. I can’t change my skin last second cause I’m already in game 😂
The problem for a gamer is that you got only 360gb. I have the series x (800gb free space when brand new). Loading are superfast due to internal nvme. The 1tb external ssd cost 200 euros and an usb nvme does bottleneck (lower performance, slower loading times) and you have to spend at least 120 euros. I have only said the ssd thing, but you have no bluray, worse heat dissipation, lower performance, no advantages, only maybe 100 euros real gain. Yes, it is a next gen but imho i would wait for a used series x or wait for price drop (if any next year). I prefer to spend more on a next gen console than a useless mobile phone that easily cost more than 200 euros :)
@@shadow6687 Right now most games do not require to be installed on the internal drive. Older games were developed with 2.5" HDDs in mind and external SSDs are more than sufficient. In the long term, it would be nice to have a more affordable storage solution on Xbox consoles. Then again, even if the community created some adapter to use M.2 NVMe drives, the PCIe 4.0 ones remain rather expensive.
@@shadow6687 I bought the S because I don’t have a 4K TV and can’t miss out on something I’ve never seen in terms of graphics. I will buy a Series X when the hype dies and they come out with a slim or pro version. There are barely any games out for Xbox so a 2TB external will be fine for space.
@@shadow6687. This makes me think of the ending to Billy Madison when he was on the Jeopardy game show. 1. If someone wanted more storage space, they shouldn't get a SSD usb drive cause that would be in the Series X price point at that point without the upgrades like prioritizing 4K and a disc drive. 2. Who uses their Xbox for Blu Ray movies ? You're talking about a very small crowd considering that we live in an age where people prefer streaming devices and apps. Disney + is even a perk of Xbox to top it off. 3. It doesn't have "worse heat dissipation" cause it has far less moving parts compared to Series X. 4. It has less storage, but the S removes unnecessary parts of game downloads like 4K textures and that makes the game downloads smaller in size. 5. The X isn't tremendously more advanced than the S. Both use the same GPU, CPU, and SSD. 6. You mention "no advantages" when this video just proved you wrong. Both offer ray tracing, 120 fps, and ultra high PC graphics settings and the S has been benchmarked by numerous sources to confirm that. 7. Series S prioritizes 1440p over 4K. If it did 4K natively, more people would have bought it over the X. 1440p is still a lot better than 1080p. The S is a great console for those that prefer digital, smaller size, or to get people into the Xbox economy. Many Playstation fans have already bought a Series S or they are planning to get one just because of Gamepass and EA Play.
i love how you say ray tracing and 120 hz under the same breath almost deceiving the general public and showing series x footage...if you ever have ray tracing on, on the series s expect the choppiest 30fps performance ever
It wouldn't be $300 if it had a disc drive. Most of the good 360 games are already on Gamepass like the Gears games and the Halo games. I prefer digital and with Gamepass, it is a no brainer. We already have amazing Xbox titles from every generation, tons of amazing Bethesda games, and then we have EA Play. There are talks about Ubisoft + joining the program soon.
How do you like the S??? I have wanted the series X for like a year now but I don’t want to wait any longer, I have the Xbox one S and plan on upgrading in the next day or two- my options right now are waiting several months or paying over $1k for the series X or I can get the Series S for only $300(my current Xbox doesn’t have a disc tray I’m all digital for my game library, and I don’t have a 4K TV so the series S is looking like the move right now)
@@passenger3 hell yeah, I had a 2tb external hardrive for my Xbox one S and I just bought a new Series S a couple hours ago- all I had to do was unplug the One S, plug the cables into the new Xbox series S and I was good to go after updating. I’m a huge fan right now just been trying some different games to test out the Ray Tracing. Metro Exodus has been my fave game in the last 5 or 6 years so I’m really having fun playing through it again right now. The main reason I bought the next gen is so I can play the new nba 2k22 on next gen instead of current gen when it comes out tonight in about 19 hours so definitely looking forward to that! Until then Metro is gonna be what I’m grinding lol, I’d highly recommend it if you haven’t played!
Got a PS5 at launch and I’m a die hard PlayStation guy, but I ordered my Series S yesterday and am stoked to catch up on a lot of games I missed over the last generation!
The thing about that Xbox when I seen it I want to disk drive because it's always a good alternative even if it's just a USB extra add-on plug-in it's nice
If they put a disc drive in this, it would have already lost the appeal as an alternative to Series X. The lack of a disc drive, lack of 4K dedicated hardware, and smaller SSD is why it is so cheap. I prefer digital, especially since Gamepass dominates in Xbox now. I'd rather play in 1440p on Series S rather than 4K on One X cause the power difference is light years apart
The only drawback I’ve noticed is that it plays the Xbox One S version of backward compatible games, rather than the Xbox One X version. I’m no resolution snob, but going from 4K to 900p can be startling. However, that’s not really an issue with newer titles, as they tend to run closer to 1440p in quality mode, only dropping to sub-1080p levels in performance mode to get that sweet 120fps. I don’t notice the difference between 1440p and 4K, because I’m playing on my living room tv, which is about 10 feet from my couch. I think this console is PERFECT for living room play. If I were playing on a monitor at my computer desk with my eyes 3 feet from the screen, I would definitely notice the resolution difference more. I do have long-term concerns as to whether developers are going to be able to get a decent quality of ray tracing out of this box. The Series S version of Control does not offer ray tracing. Watchdogs Legion, while it does manage ray tracing, doesn’t do so at particularly high quality. It will be interesting to see what Microsoft’s first party studios manage to do in this regard. Did Remedy and Ubisoft simply fail to properly optimize their games for the Series S or is it legitimately a little too lean to achieve quality ray tracing? Time will tell. Don’t let these few negatives sway you though. I love my tiny Xbox. I just wanted to provide a few cons to balance the conversation, as all the pros listed in this video are absolutely valid. Only the biggest technophiles should sweat the differences between this and the Series X. I imagine your average consumer of games wouldn’t even notice the differences, but they would notice the extra $200 in their pocket 😁
Well, I have news for you, I can't speak for every game but some BC games that got updated actually added the One X upgrades for the Series S console, like Mirror's Edge, Sonic Generations, Sonic Unleashed and so on

Love the loading speed. Borderlands 3 on one s/x. 3 minutes. , using external ssd 2.30. Series s. 53 seconds. Being able to unplug ssd from my one x and plug it in to the series s without issue to play Xbox one/360 games is excellent. My only critique is smart delivery is not a choice. Can’t play no mans sky or B3 etc without having it on the system. Would be nice to be able to choose version. Also works well with remote play. So price plus remote play and it’s a switch rival as well. This system is genius. Cheap enough to be second system for ps5 owners while also being powerful enough as a main one for me. Its a perfect console, I was also a bit bummed about the disk drive but once I was looking at my library I noticed how all the games that I play consistently are digital and call me lazy but I realized how much I hate having to get up and switch out disks and find it easier to just buy games digitaly. I hooked an external SSD that speeds reach 500 mb/s and idk how but quick resume works with it and it takes about 3 to 6 seconds longer to resume the game which isn't bad. It's a great console if your not into 4k and want 120fps, I can't wait for DirectML and Architecture Velocity to be unlocked to its true power.

I’m getting mine by the end of the week! Always been on PlayStation. So this is my first Xbox since the original back in 01.
I managed to get the ps5, but i want to get the series s bc i wanted to try out some games i have never played before like gears and halo
if you do get it, recommend playing halo master chief collection, start from 1 while the new halo comes out
Just got mines 4 day ago and I must say I am not disappointed. The load time is so fast that I haven't played my PS4pro since getting this machine, and all the 3rd party games that's on both system I play on the XBOX Series S exclusively now.
Picked mine up yesterday. It’s a little beast 🥰
Lol I just got a series s lol

You will love it more when the black version with 1 TB storage is launched this September!
My first X box after years of Play Station. As in Sea Of Thieves, I've jumped ship and love my new Series S. Add that to the Game Pass, what a combo!

I just bought one for £140 , brilliant little machine
I have the series X. But I’m going to get the wife a series S. Can’t wait to see what it can do!
I own a ps5 and series s and I have to say I don't really have a preference I love em both but the series s is amazingly quick I have to say
I've much love for my Xbox Series S, bought mine in the middle of December and still love it. It's super fast, well designed gaming console

@@nali5731 honestly I'd wait a little bit until Series X is easier to get and buy Series X. I was gonna get one myself but there wasn't any available at the time. Series S is great tho and it depends on what kind of gamer you are. If you're like me and you like all the top specs, just wait unless you can get Series X now. Another thing is, probably a few years from now there's gonna be a new upgraded Series S/X Xbox, so if you want to see a bigger graphics jump I'd just get Series S and then wait for the upgraded hardware.

I just bought one on the weekend. I work full time, am a student part time, and have a wife and kids so I don't have a ton of time for gaming, so couldn't justify getting a more expensive console. Coming from a playstation guy, this console is amazing
@@shadow6687 true
This mythical console seems amazing
yo man im selling my pc and i want to buy a series s do you think if it will last the generation perfectly?
Went from ps4 to the series s...and surprisingly it was the best choice
Doing the same.
If only had a drive reader to play my old 360's games...
You can still buy the 360 games digitally.
Hi am getting one soon so good information so thanks
I've just pulled the trigger on an 'S' and the expansion card- hope I don't regret it. I couldn't get hold of the X
Same here and the no disc slot was kinda a let down for all the games i own on disc for 360 and the og Xbox but this little console is a beast!

Metro Exodus has been my fave game in the last 5 or 6 years so I’m really having fun playing through it again right now. The thing about that Xbox when I seen it I want to disk drive because it's always a good alternative even if it's just a USB extra add-on plug-in it's nice
Maybe they'll put that in the mid generation version
If they put a disc drive in this, it would have already lost the appeal as an alternative to Series X. The lack of a disc drive, lack of 4K dedicated hardware, and smaller SSD is why it is so cheap. I prefer digital, especially since Gamepass dominates in Xbox now. I'd rather play in 1440p on Series S rather than 4K on One X cause the power difference is light years apart
Bey me a Xbox series s speez

Hats off to the person who came up with it.
