As a Chelsea fan, I always wonder how far we would've gotten with Sarri. Our players complained about misunderstanding his tactics, now some Juve players have the same complaint. He's misunderstood but when he is understood it's a thing of beauty (ref. Empoli and Napoli). Maybe one day some other coach with better interpersonal skills will thrive off his philosophy.

People underestimate the big task he had. Turning a team that was built on counter attacking under Mourinho and Conte into a possession based team. IMO, You could see the foundations of his work under Lampard with the slick passing you saw in midfield on occasions.

It doesn't work with players like those of Chelsea and Juventus who are stars that have won a lot without him. He needs squads like those of Empoli and Napoli, consisting of "pupils" that will care to listen to him.
Also Sarri has very poor communication and interpersonal skills.

You just need the right kind of players for his tactics .
Players misunderstood means they didn't want to play differently from what they are used to. This happens when you have a team full of established players for a different play style.
Ronaldo and co complained that Sarri asked them to pass the ball after 2 touches quickly .
      What a joke .
I hope Sarri gets another chance at the elite level with a team more suited to his play style

@@JayzsMr It's actually sarri's fault too. He had manzukic who was not given any role. Ronaldo should play free to get the best out of him, it's like asking messi not drop back to midfield where he is more effective even though he can play as a forward. Don't take the job if you can't do it with the current squad! He can't press with ronaldo and dybala(He doesn't run much too) and should have bought a striker when he had the chance.

It was mostly Juve board's issue. They have to stop buying players without checking with the manager. Sarriball is hard to adapt and for a team like Juve who played under Allegri a pragmatist. It was never Sarri's fault. As a philosophical manager, he will do what he is best at

Biggest Drawback that I've seen under Sarri's Juventus is his Rigidity in tactics and in formation.....no matter which team they played against but they always defended in 4-4-2 formation
I think tactics and formation should be structured in such a way that will cause opponents a lot of problems and make them(opponent) do the things that they aren't comfortable with
And ofcourse they didn't used the wings efficiently Sandro and Lord Danilo always delivered the worse crosses inside the box which ensures another reason of lack of creativity among the Juventus's squad
And they barely played long balls(Which is very underrated ability and kind of creativity among any squad imo).....unlike the other teams like Real Madrid/Bayern Munich/Liverpool
I hope Pirlo will solve these problems

Sarriball failed cause he has a philosophy that isn't matched with the personnel he had. Sarri never adjust, he's stubborn --- that's why Napoli lost the title to Juve. They didn't have the dept and he was stubborn to rotate players.
On his Juve campaign, the board was also a problem. They didn't adjust too.

For me Sarri is comparable to Sacchi: coaches who are obsessed with systems and patterns, at the detriment of human contact/man management. They are poor communicators and treat their players like pieces of machinery. This "nerdy" style of management is totally out of fashion in Europe's big clubs compared to coaches who can actually bond with their players.
Also look at the types of teams where Sarri has succeeded: Empoli, Napoli. Teams that were winning virtually nothing before he arrived and were underachieving. Therefore the players were more willing to listen to Sarri and follow his orders, he was someone arriving to teach them. It is not thus at Chelsea and Juventus, teams that are used to winning regardless of whom the coach is. Benitez had a similar experience with Real Madrid: he tried to impose his ways and the players were up in arms.
I don't think Sarri will get more chances at clubs of this level. If he does, he will struggle again. It is better for him to coach at a level where he can have a meaningful impact (in terms of improving the team I mean, because in terms of titles he is the only Napoli coach of this decade not to win anything there, alongside Ancelotti who stayed less than 18 months. Mazzarri, Benitez and Gattuso all won the Coppa at least).

Fool no one remembers gattuso's or benitezs' football even though they won a cup. sacchi/bielsa may be ultra-fixated on systems but you seem to forget they had players who were world-class and smart enough to accept that there are many ways of going about a football match. Ie: MVB, Gullit, etc & JRR, Masch, LM10 @ the Arg' olympic team. You can be a man-manager all you want then there'll be a point when a tactically astute team with more wondrous talents will come around to knock you down. See Jupp's Bayern. Sarri was unlucky he inherited a bunch of clowns, Dybala and MDL were the only few who tried...

    • @oldskoolmusicnostalgia
      @oldskoolmusicnostalgia 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Can't make any sense out of your ranting. You say yourself that Sacchi and Bielsa's approach worked because they had fantastic players who made that possible. So shouldn't Sarri be smart enough to acknowledge that the players he had at Chelsea and Juventus did not have such a mindset? Your argument also conveniently forgets some of the abject failures of Sacchi (Italy NT, his return to Milan in the 1990s) and Bielsa (Argentina 2002) when they had very good squads but delivered poor results and unwatchable performances.
Jupp's Bayern: wrong example, totally. He is an astute manager in tactics but also one who is close to his players, not a nerd like Sacchi or Sarri. In fact he's one of the few that is outstanding in all aspects of the game. Sarri on the other hand was described by both Chelsea and Juventus players as someone that is impossible to reach out to.
As for Napoli's football under Benitez and Gattuso, go tell that to Napoli's fans who love winning a trophy and rubbing it into the noses of rival fans.
We'll see how the "clowns" Sarri couldn't work with will fare under Pirlo: in one game so far we've already seen more football than in 15 months of Sarri-ball. Heck, even with Allegri this side was more watchable. How many big club failures does Sarri need for the "he inherited a bad squad" excuse to stop being thrown around?

Ok to be fair, Sarri didn't have the tools to make his Sarri ball work... i mean sarri ball is about position and lots of passes and high pressure game, with matuidi ramsey & even rabiot who got better by the end of last season but I don't think he is juve quality,, but all of them lack creativity and they lose the ball a lot plus they panic under pressure and they don't even press the opponent properly... I don't really understand how these players for instance played over emre can how was very versatile and could play as a CDM CM or CB sometimes, which juve stupidly sold to broussia dortumnd... Sarri was too stubborn with his way of playing ... yes it might be nice it might be sexy,,, but it doesn't suit every team, as a manager you are supposed to find the best way to fit the players / tools into the game plan not the other way around.... this is why I loved Allegri coz he always managed to get the best out of his players,, he always managed to find the right tactics ... yes he had some bad games yes he did mistakes,,, but he was a dame foxy manager,, he knows how to play each and every opponent and he got the best out of madzukic morata costa cuadrado pjanic higuain sandro pogba marchisio and even bernardeschi in his last season, people will argue and say dybala wasn't happy during his last season,,, yes its because he had to be shifted to a different role once CR7 came in,,, but look at the 3 previous seasons the guy was phenomenal,,, Allegri was a pure genius of utilizing the players he has the best way possible and reading the opponent and setting up the right tactics for it,, and even if he screwed up in the starting line-up he managed to rectify things @ half time,,,, Sarri on the other hand has a nice idea about football and sexy way of playing it but its the only way for him which shouldn't be the case he needs to be flexible and change his tactics a bit to suit his teams otherwise he will be forgotten soon

Pirlo's reign actually proved that he can make the defensive mindset Juventus squad play Sarri ball better than Sarri ever could, they lost Serie A, but they literally won other 2 domestic trophies, beat Ac milan and Inter, Pirlo got Juventus ready for the other Italian clubs which were improving, and dont even mention the injuries, at one point of the season Juventus had 7 players from starting XI injured. As a Chelsea fan I lost a lot of respect for both parties in this.
Sarri because thanks to him we lost several really good players (Fabregas, Cahill), and then he left when things got tough (transfer ban, Hazard leaving). I don't entirely blame him, though, but there was a platform for success that he left behind.
Juventus because they shouldn't have brought a long term manager in and expected him to work miracles. If they want to win the Champions League they should've been looking elsewhere. Sarri needs time and it looks like they're not the kind to give you time.

Sarri is good manager but he lacked the players hee needed for Sarriball. Sarriball is a possession type style where a team dominates the possession, but Juve has a history of counter attack style so possession game is not in their DNA, it's similar to type of Real Madrid. Massimo Allegri too had defensive style coaching so his success at Juve was better With Juve qualifying 2 times for Semis of UCL. Intrested to See what Pirlo does, coz he too said in Press Confrence that his game needs players on the ball most of times which is a possession type, Also intrested to see which will be his regular Formation and A fixed playing Xl

Sarri has been unfortunate since leaving Napoli, as he hasn't been completely trusted or supported in the transfer market. When you consider that he has a particular way he wants to play and needs players of specific profiles to make that happen yet his last two clubs haven't provided that and demand results.
He is a stubborn man, however it is unfair to bring such a man, not provide him tools then not afford him time to actually craft the squad and implement his ideas.
Let's see what's next for him and for Juve under Pirlo (maybe as a former Juve player he is better supported and afforded more time).

A manager who’s not able to adapt his style and philosophy to the resources available, shouldn’t coach a big team.
Sarri is stubborn and too rigid with his football views, not really keen in experimenting new tactics or styles.
That could work in a medium-small team, where he can decide to change half of the players in one/two seasons’ timeframe to get players with features and abilities that are more ideal to his style/philosophy.
In a major team a manager needs charisma and motivational skills. The top players will do the rest under your instructions.
If players like Ronaldo, Chiellini, Bonucci, who’ve got a major influence on the team, don’t find it easy to work with a coach, you won’t last long..and unlike Napoli, they won’t get rid of the players, they’ll get rid of you.

And trade him with danilo with likes of Alex sandro, danilo ,matuidi failed to put decent cross in multiple occasions, all the time they pushed the men forward and what they did was passing the ball in the midfield ,midfield lacked creativity and crossing correctly, ,and pjanic was too slow last season and instead of providing the ball to Ronaldo and dybala ,dybala was more of no.10 , only positives which j found were Cuadrado is way better than danilo ,Rabiot is gaining confidence and form, Demiral is a beast ,Dybala is back to his best.emre can should not have been sold he was an ideal replacement for Sami kedira .hopefully Pirlo does what is right for Juventus .
