      He also won 2 championships with Newells in Argentina his hometown club and he reached the libertadores final with them. People are focused in titles to rank a managers work, which can be very wrong for different reasons.
      With Bielsa the only thing that matters that he overachieved in nearly every station, the only downsides being his Argentina World Cup knockout in group stages and his short spell in Lille.
      He didn´t had jobs where the club was clear favorite to win anything, but he delivered improvements nearly everytime. His Argentina first round knock out was one of the most unlucky perfomances i have seen, that team was dominating every match but couldn´t score to save their lives. Hitting woodwork, magical saves from the keepers and i think the broke some kind of record being the team with most clear chances not qualifying for the next round.
      Qualification for that tournament showed true Bielsa with that national team dominating everyone including Brazil scoring 42 and only conceding 15, losing just 1 game against brazil and drawing 4 in 18 games.
      Bielsa is a legend and everyone that hit you with the "but he didn´t win titles", is just short sighted and knows nothing about football!

      Most of the players being linked is actually bs . You think draxler will leave psg for Leeds regardless even though Leeds mostly championship quality bielsa and 1 or 2 good signings will help them get midtable

      imagine they get draxler...

    • @HenSt-gz7qj
      @HenSt-gz7qj 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      that'll depends on how Draxler sees himself.
      Since he's out of favor in PSG starting lineup, a move would be the best option for him.
      now whether he'd join Leeds or other club, will depend on his priority, more game time, more wages, or simply better chance at UCL.
      but I don't think any UCL team would want him at the moment as most of those clubs already stacked in the midfield area. (Maybe Serie-A team like Napoli or Roma would suit him but no offer from there, afaik).

  • @DylanPayne13

    Exceptional video explaining the 3-3-1-3. What I would add:
    - When you mention Ayling plays more narrowly into midfield and Dallas tucks in to form a back 3, the opposition happens depending on the opposition. I.e. Hull away
    - Bielsa's pressing is reliant on verticaly in possession I.e. pass it forward or pass and look for the ball in a more forward position. This is to push the opposition's defence backwards to pin them deep in their own half as they are always moving backwards.
    -A Bamford/Llorente type forward is favoured over a Nketiah type forward who looks to run into space. Bielsa's play as unit defending deep when necessary and move the ball forward extremely quickly, to do it effectively they need a forward who can hold onto the ball and let the runners catch up. In theory his players should be extremely fit and out run the opposition players who have themselves pushed forward to create chances themselves

    Bielsa has pulling power when it comes to players so i can see Leeds strengthening again in January if Bielsa identifies a weakness over the first half of the season. With a full crowd i would say they are definitely safe and pushing for top 10, but without crowds they might struggle initially.

    I know this is an old video but I'm going to comment anyway.
    "High speed possession". Tbh I'm not sure what this means. I suppose possession football with a high tempo, but that's almost an oxymoron. Under Bielsa, possession was often quite slow at the back (we played out from the back religiously, the GK wasn't allowed to kick it long-- he went short or, if under pressure, would chip it out to the full back area). I think the purpose of playing out from the back is mainly two-fold: first, to draw the opposition out and create space in behind them. Secondly, to tire out the opposition and demoralise them by making them chase the ball, and, crucially, to preserve energy (as the pressing under Bielsa was superhuman, and you cannot do this if you don't dominate the ball, as it's too much work and our players got tired).
    Then, the idea was to quickly progress the ball through midfield to the final third. The midfield 4 played extremely high up, and a lot of space was left in midfield. It's one of the most notable things about Bielsa ball. No other team plays like that. It looks absurd and you feel your team is extremely vulnerable if they lose the ball when attacking or trying to progress the ball from defence to attack.
    Bielsa's philosophy is that football should be played in the final thirds and midfield should be largely bypassed. So most of our possession was either at the back or when we had teams pinned in their half/final third.
    And I don't think you emphasised enough how much man marking is central to his tactics. Without the ball, it's man marking all over the pitch. With the exception of leaving a spare player in defence, which usually leaves Bamford with two CBs to press. This is completely unique and nobody plays like this. It isn't a specific man that a player marks, but whomever is closest. And they pass them on etc as play develops, often. But also, often, they'll follow them all the way across the pitch and we have no notable shape whatsoever.

    Leeds United primarily play in a 4-1-4-1 formation. Although being known for tactical flexibility and unconventional creations like the 3-3-1-3 and 3-3-3-1, this shape has remained relatively consistent over the course of both of Bielsa’s seasons so far, even if adapted during build-up phases.101-tactics.com/2020/10/27/marcelo-bielsas-leeds-united-tactical-analysis/

    These tactics are suitable in the Championship league. Premier league is a totally different poker game. Just when you think you got a winning hand , you will get a surprise gift. He will be facing the top Managers with seasoned Premiership players with superior intelligence, game changer and superior reserves on the bench. There are six top teams in the league while 10 teams are seasoned fighters and survivors. Only 1 team or maybe two teams will join the promoted teams in relegation fight. Champion of the season before Norwich can't make it. Only way to survive is less mistakes and no injuries for promoted teams. Lastly strength in depth on the bench, when things going wrong who can step up to perform.

      We worked on our counter attacking game greatly. Furthermore a genuinely skilled CB witth the ball, Ben White, helped us to break the oppositions press as he often was able to find space beyond the oppositions attackers. He was also very good at long passes, and was able to find our winger on several occasions in space, as we built attacks
      18-19 were full of bad luck with injuries, as the players got used to the training regime and with a bit of luck, Leeds were certain to get promotion

      I mean, they came fourth then top in their first two seasons after promotion last time, but an awful lot has changed since then. I would be shocked if Bielsa stays for more than two seasons in the PL though, even this third season is longer than he tends to hang around for, so it will largely depend upon his replacement too.

      Top 10 at best. Yes, Bielsa's tactics are solid, but his personnel is too weak for a top 6 finish

    ,,Ch” in ,,Klich” you shouldn’t read like ,,ch” in ,,champions” for instance. In polish we read Ch like ,,H” in ,,hard”. Advice for the future ;)

    Think leeds is an over(goals) team this season(compared to odds offered that is), despite being an under team last season. In the champ oppo's gave them a lot of respect and used a low block. In the prem this wont happen, resulting in some nice upsets by the promoted side, but probably also a few ugly losses.

  • @Realtalkasalways

    • @pahakuutti
      @pahakuutti 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Guessing both, in different games. Some teams will absolutely obliterate them and conversely they will cause some heavy upsets to bigger teams.

      @persona250 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bielsa is an extremely experienced manager . If the tactics dont work it gets changed at half time . No surprise that Leeds will outplay a lot of big clubs this season . Its the teams that turn up to defend that they struggle with .
