    It would be awesome to have large multiplayer battle were large amount of players would try to defend the citadel and equal amount of players would try to attack. I would definitely watch video of that.😄

      Imagine that with siege machines which are coming in the next update. Sick.

    • @dirk-jantoot1029
      @dirk-jantoot1029 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@cloke3076 the siege machines would have to be constructable though. If you just have a discrete siege tower or ladder the defender could just build the wall 2m higher than that making the tower useless.
      I would add 2 additional things. The ballistas should fire only on players associated with a ward(the defenders) and the same would go for tamed animals. They fight on one side and attack members of the opposite side. It would be a really cool fight, and I think you could even give the attackers a significant numerical advantage and they're still going to have a tough time. Especially if the defenders utilize ooze/bile bombs and magic effectively.
      I could see a sneak attack from the mountain behind the citadel with a squad of feathered caped special forces(BRS capable) make a breakthrough though ;)

      @@dirk-jantoot1029 main reason why you would never build a structure like this right next to a mountain irl

    • @christopherpoet458
      @christopherpoet458 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TpowerTES Respectfully, this is completely false.
      I can see why you would come to that conclusion, but something that should be noted and kept in mind is that the Time Period dictates the reasoning for everything. In the context of Valheim as a game, there are no advantages to building anything on the side of a Mountain or Hilly landscape. Mechanically, there is very little danger to an enemy getting up and around your defenses and later in the game they can turn an otherwise useless block of voxels into an advantage for the offensive effort.
      However, your comment is more directed to Real Life, and on that note, this changes completely.
      If you stick to a modern time period, Snippers, Paratroopers, ect, could take advantage of the mountain as a means to sneak in an unsuspecting attack. That is assuming that whoever built said defense doesn't take into consideration a need to ensure such sneak attacks can not be conducted. Which, by comparison, is easier for them than the attacker.
      The problem you do not appear to be aware of or considering is that it is still a Mountain and unlike a game like Valheim, there are no slope scaling glitches we can use to avoid fall damage or taking a wrong step and dropping to a sudden death. Even if you were to take a helicopter or some other airborne vehicle to get your troops up said mountain, you STILL have to deal with scaling the landscape to get to where you need to go. At which point, why bother when you can just fly around the MT and drop in? At that point your only obstacle is the potential existence of AA guns.
      Otherwise, you are still counting on this team of troops to physically and successfully get around this Mountain and still have the strength to fight on the other side.
      In a modern setting, there are still ample defensive benefits to such a position that from the defending perspective, they have basically locked down offensive efforts to specific types of attacks. The defender has the Elevation Advantage, is able to also put in countermeasures to such sneak attacks, and has the means to limit or force specific approaches on the position. The only real threat to such a position is being bombed or shelled by artillery. Now, I will note in this case that I am not a Modern Military expert and there may be factors I have missed in the modern arsenals of weapons that could better deal with a fortified position such as this. Anyone is welcome to correct me or expand on that.
      But, pre-modern? The defenders get the advantage 10/10 times.
      Prior to modern technology, the only threat to a stronghold like this would be the weather and logistical issues. Or, if you are dumb (sorry but Minis Tirith kind of Fed this up), you make your castle wall so big and in an open space where a full army can assault the walls. A position like this has one major advantage and disadvantage; isolation. If you did your job right, it would be impossible or hazardous for an enemy to attempt a full scale straight assault on the position and near impossible to attempt the attack in any other way. However, that isolation can be equally problematic as the ideal location for such a stronghold would leave the castle reliant on a supply line to keep its garrison fed. This would mean that in an ideal world, the castle would need two points of entry. One facing the opposition and another that could be used safely by defenders and reinforcements without worry of retaliation. However, we do not live in such a perfect world and the conditions needed to utilize this defense are hard to come by.
      And while your point of a sneak attack still caries merit in concept, it is even less practical pre-modern than it is in the modern era.
      Pre-modern soldiers had to lug and carry their gear on them just like we do today, only it was far heavier. Wearing your armor or carrying it, getting up a mountain to sneak into a castle would be a danger in itself. The risk of falling or injury is far greater and on top of that, they need to make it to the position they need to be in rested and able to fight. You won't be doing much when you first get to the top. And to make matters worse, they did not have gear back then regularly accessible for temporary flight. Nor did they have the modern rope climbing gear we have today that would allow for alternative means of sneaking into said castle. If you didn't have enough cover or direct access to the castle from the position you climbed too, congrats, it was a waisted trip. The most you could do is carry a limited supply of arrows and attempt to pick off some of the defenders to help your allied forces. At best.
      The REASON why these castles about never existed was not because someone could sneak in. Every castle was prone to that issue even when there was no mountain to exploit. The reasoning was based in the logic of how roads were built back then. Unlike today, they didn't have the means to heavily warp terrain. Not on a scale where they could easily terraform every stretch of land they touched. It was easier and cheaper to build a road along a path that offered the least resistance. The flatter and smoother the road, the better. Again, keep in mind that at this point in time, they were more concerned about keeping both man and beasts healthy and fresh for travel and reducing time costs for travel. Why take the time to go up a hill and have to make camp early because of the exhaustion for the effort when you could go around said hill and travel many hours longer than you otherwise would have because you saved that energy? TLDR: There was never a need. Road paths did not often stretch into terrain that rough unless it was intentional and that was not a common practice. In most cases, castles built like this would be so far from the road that the passing army could walk by waving and wish you the best. There was no point.
      Aside from being useless, the bigger problem pre-modern is the potential of illness from the climate, the increasingly difficulty to farm, and other natural problems that could occur.

    I'd like to see a video on your design process at some point. How do you come up with such gorgeous multilayered designs? From the roof styles, to where you decide to use diagonals, to overall balancing of the build (like the tower in the back of this build) it's all fascinating to me. I can never seem to figure out why mine looks so flat, but it's easy to see the depth in your _7-layer_ entrance. 😂

The square towers with four circular upper extensions (see one at 12:58, three seen at 17:36) are of particular interest to me .... I think you show one of them as the "Royal Family Quarters" .... would love to see how the complicated roof was designed (square roof into mini four circular towers). 🏰 Still hope to see you get into Conan Exiles building.

    • @9byte
      @9byte  ปีที่แล้ว

      Much appreciated Tyberiuss. The circle structures were actually roofed as a normal circle when I designed them away from the tower. Then I just selected the circle tower with Infinity Hammer mod and got it into the place I wanted on the tower. So its really just a square roof for the tower and a circle roof for the circle extensions. I will have to try conan at some point for sure!

    They should employ this man. Imagine being able to find this structure in the world somewhere

      Yes, I thought that I would find different fortresses. But in fact they are not in the game. Only players build them

    Since Valheim was created in Unity it'd be interesting to see mesh combination tools introduced in the game as a mod of some sort. This'd allow you to build 10x the size (or maybe even copy stuff). The build itself is definitely 10/10, I can envision some GoT roleplayed video staged in there with scheming and a siege, 100%.

      With Infinity Hammer mod you can already copy and paste things but I haven't heard about anything for that mesh idea. Sounds like a game changer though.😮😮 thanks!

    I wish I had a computer that could handle these builds. I start to struggle after 15k instances. Excellent build!

      It does not matter what computer you have. I have a 4080 GPU and Intel i9-13900KS and also 96 GB DDR5 RAM. I start getting 30 fps at about that. It's the engine limitation. My friends with a 1060 gets about the same performance as me.

      @@Huels yeah that's true. Seems like he's getting decent fps on the build. I would be getting like 5 fps. I tried the Njord mod on valheim raft and I couldn't handle it.

    Wish i could do a build like this on our dedicated server. This would take weeks and not be the same without having mods. Sigh. NICE BUILD DUDE

    Amazing build bro! Just wonderin how did you make those outer walls of yours? Haha was planning to put something like that in my base but i dont have any ideas on how to creatively build walls like that using marbles 😅 Awesome build sir!

    Looks amazing. From a real-world perspective, it'd be a nightmare to defend. Good defenses love choke points and generally controlling the flow of enemies, even beyond the walls and gates

    I looked at steam and they had a build of the year post. It was a normal starter house!?! This easily should’ve been build of the year

    I've only recently discovered your channel so maybe you already have a video on this, but I want to know how you plan your builds. You always have a blueprint situation ahead of time and I just want to know your thought process as you go into the prep phase.
    Fantastic build. I love everything about this.

      I've gotten a lot of comments about this topic. I am currently working on something that will hopefully show the planning a lot better. Thanks for the tip friend.

    Absolutely beautiful build. Can you make a tutorial on how to build the walls?

  • @NinjaSpartanDragonMonk

    this game is the first game of these types of games, Minecraft type…
    I love it, and I started from ea release on steam. it was so blank and barren but absolutely beautiful and it inspired a whole endless series of ideas for what this game could be.
    unfortunately, these builds do not… run very well… but, I think there might be ways around all of that instance type stuff.
    ashlands looks like it will have larger fortresses.
    so… What it, perhaps in end game..
    There are options across the seed where you can save up resources and “construct” a mega structure substructure. so like, in this build for example, it would put up the walls, floor, roof. Basic structure, nothing detailed like furniture or crafting stations.
    As you play the game and your character comes across a space which is used for one of these megastructures, your birds would maybe fly down and mention it.
    Maybe the places in the world are marked with some stone or sigil or something.
    But, after it is built, it is registered as 1 piece. Your decorations, crafting stations, and furniture will add instances. So could minimize by only putting up what you need. Or it could be lavish like many of these very decorated builds.
