  • The Kee-Kee and the Kee Kee run have long been considered a fall only turkey vocalization. This can't be further from the truth. Any turkey hunter worth their salt will quickly agree that kee keeing is a very common spring turkey sound. Now for fall hunting, the kee kee is a GREAT option. Jakes, Jennies, Hens, and Gobblers alike will yelp and kee kee to congregate with one another. For this reason, understanding when and how to use the call is very important. The kee kee thrown into your yelping sequence can be a deadly strategy for spring gobbler season.
Using a mouth call to kee kee and kee-kee run are often done by using a ghost cut. This call allows for a nice whistle sound as air is channeled over the reed. Learning to use a mouth call for calling turkeys can be challenging but with time and practice is certainly achievable. Learning to master the diaphragm call for turkey hunting can be very rewarding for a turkey hunter of any level. When getting started with a mouth call a huge first step is just knowing the fundamentals of a mouth call, call placement, and picking the right call for the right turkey sound or a caller's comfort level.
In this video Edward tells you all about the kee kee and the kee-kee run and how to achieve these sounds.

I can make the basic sounds but they're way too high pitch. How do I get it to be deeper?

This comes with time and practice, you’ll need to learn to slightly relax your jaw muscles and tongue to take some of the Reed pressure off

@@callemorcrawlem I’m out in Chesterfield but I hunt public in the south east and more recently been heading west/south west. The central region just hasn’t been kind to me.
