I actually do relate to him in the past tense, 18 year old me would have done well to have seen this movie earlier. Nothing wrong with relating to a flawed character if you are conscious of how you were flawed and try to improve on it.
Yeah. Along with the messages about not getting hung up on your exes, or your SO's exes, in some ways the larger message of the movie is basically "How to stop being a total douchebag." It's only at the very end that Scott even starts to become a good person. And yeah, his "negative" self actually being a nice guy is kinda the tipoff there.
It's not that his opposite is good, it's that Scott is a zero (due to his ongoing depression). And what is the opposite of zero? Well, it's also zero. This is why his opposite is the exact same person. For further proof of this, remember that his drink of choice is Coke Zero (product placement serves character metaphors) and one of his t-shirts says Zero.
Wallace is my favourite character in this movie. He's not an annoying plot device or cringey worthless side character, he's genuinely funny and intriguing, you want a whole side story with him and his love affairs lol!
I really like him, but I think I like him most as a side character. Him being a main character would be exhausting in a way... like, he's great for cutaway gag type humor but if you had to sit through an hour and a half of nothing but Wallace you'd be tired of him.
the whole thing with his "premonition" that he'd meet ramona, is that she was using his mind as a subspace highway to deliver packages to people and th- god i sound like a moron.
I wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s clearly explained. I always thought that line was something about a highway. Never realized that’s what it meant lol. My bad
Yeah as far as I remember that single line is the entirety of the film's exploration of subspace highways. It wasn't a central part of the movie plot at all, imo they mostly added the line as a throwaway to appease the graphic novel fans.
When Scott is having a dream and Romona shows up, she’s using a “dream highway” to deliver packages faster. It’s in the comic books. This story is a mix of comic book and video game logic with a splash of magic to boot
It doesn't matter if it's explained in the comics. The rule on Cinema Sins is that only information given in the movie itself matters. Information gained from outside materials isn't factored in.
@@nugget1044 There's one line where Ramona tells Scott that he has a convenient subspace highway in his mind, but it's brushed off as a joke. People that haven't read the comics aren't going to know she's being serious. There were going to be other scenes that explained it more, but they were removed for pacing reasons, so they don't count.
I barely remember the details of this movie. But I will always remember “You made me swallow my gum. It’s gonna be in my digestive tract for SEVEN YEARS!!” Because my brother and I laughed so hard at that scene.
This movie had a total of 11 sin removals by Cinemasins, second only to the 16 sin removals in Pulp Fiction. I guess Jeremy really did enjoy this movie.
Anyone else notice that she only dated Matthew Patel, her first evil ex, for a week and a half but also dyes her hair every week and a half? Is this a weird coincidence or am I crazy?
But the sin wasn’t whether or not what she said made sense, but whether or not it was a valid reason to want to fight somebody. It’d make about as much sense as me beating the crap out of my last girlfriend’s recent ex, because he upset her. That’s a lot more thorough thought than should ever be applied on a CinemaSins video, but that’s on me 🤷🏻♂️
In the Scott Pilgrim universe, no one dies, you respawn at your parents house. So all the guys Scott beat up to be with Ramona are just at home wondering how they got beat by this stick figure in a Sharpie shirt.
And this is never mentioned in the movie. One of the big rules of this channel is that the source material shouldn't have to be used to understand the movie. See: Harry Potter.
So it's similar to GTAs universe, when you die you respawn at the hospital, despite falling from a 10 ft building or drowning....or dying in a exploding car.
Ramona is actually the only delivery person in toronto and scott didn’t have a dream that he’d meet ramona. In the comics, it’s explained that ramona was using subspace highways through scott and other peoples minds to deliver packages so quickly, that amazon only needed her.
She's the coolest partly due to her being by herself. Nobody really knows her but they seem to know of her so word gets around and eventually she's the coolest person at the party.

Phil & Hill G usually my boy knows what he is talking about, but he had one hell of a boomer moment with #4. The sound that plays is secret revealed and it does makes sense as Scott literally reveals to them that Knives is chinese.
Most the time, when opening a door with a key you still hear the sound or discovering a secret but the game continues thru the level transition no pause. You can hear him fighting guards and overworld music. so possible he's around hyrule outside opeing up the secret entrance to jump in under the boulder. Also for those who cannot tell this is the secret sound and not a chest opening in a link to the past.

It's something in the book and to my belief, it's not mentioned in the movie at all. AND in the book, Scott's a freeloader on Wallace but Wallace just accepts him mainly cus Wallace has a crush on Scott atleast to all what I think it is.
The premonition thing was actually Ramona using Scott's head space to travel from place to place, allowing her to travel quickly. So when she is talking to him while he's asleep she is actually talking to him; they use it way more in the comics but only briefly in the movies.

- Scott's desert premonitions are taken from the comic, where Ramona has an ability they kinda never explained in the movie. - People have rumors about Ramona, that's what they mean when they say she's popular. - Patel's battle starts after a bit cuz of INTROs to fights in some videogames. - Everything you see in the movie is real... - Neil's purpose in the band is literally to do nothing. - Okay, I get the sin from YadaYadaing out of punching knives... but he punched THE HIGHLIGHTS OUT OF HER HAIR!! - Knives attacks Gideon because Gideon is about to hurt scott, who she still likes. -you're reading this? Perhaps your interested in my videos then. Hahaha, JK... This whole movie happened practically in my lap, I'm surprised I'm not IN the movie someplace. The main neighbourhood this was shot in was around Bathurst & Bloor, where I was living at the time. I was working at Casa Loma when this was shooting there. This movie IS my 20s.
Have you read the comics? I'd HIGHLY reccommend if so, since they go even more in depth on all the Toronto locations (There's an evil ex battle that takes place inside Honest Ed's), I bet you'd enjoy it! Buy the color versions though, trust me
Scott: Garlic bread is my favourite food. I could honestly eat it for every meal. Or just all the time without even stopping. Ramona: You'd get fat. Scott: Why would I get fat? Ramona: Bread makes you fat. Scott: Bread makes you fat?!!

@@TPHRyan that's actually good too
Wdym, he gains the power of understanding by the end. Epic shit.
Ok, but Scott is such a terrible person that his shadow self is "actually a really nice guy"
Still I think the message pass better in the comic
It's not that his opposite is good, it's that Scott is a zero (due to his ongoing depression). And what is the opposite of zero? Well, it's also zero. This is why his opposite is the exact same person. For further proof of this, remember that his drink of choice is Coke Zero (product placement serves character metaphors) and one of his t-shirts says Zero.
The other interpretation of that scene is that earlier he had learned self respect and doesn't need to fight himself any more
I still want to see a short if Scott went to Lunch with NEGA Scott.

Ramona: You'd get fat.
Scott: Why would I get fat?
Ramona: Bread makes you fat.
Scott: Bread makes you fat?!!
Iconic moment of the movie.. Amongst many!!
This is when I learned that bread makes you fat
Oh that's why I'm fat.
My favorite part of the movie!
No sin off for Knive’s “:O” face 😭
Fun fact: the person who plays Roxy also voiced katara in avatar
She was also the first daughter in Independence Day
That is fun
She's also a main character in the show Good Girls
I did not have fun reading this fact. I am better person for it.
“Yo this computer claims I have mail!”
“And now I’m reading it!”
“I think we should break up......”

That was great!
I feel like he sinned this movie *just* to make that joke! 😂

Super funny: All of your world building questions ended up getting answered in the final book, but the final book came out during the movie’s production and they missed the details! 🤣
The missed a lot of the world building and character moments from previous books though
