It took me a month to beat Raiders on the Atari 2600. Every day, a friend of mine would give me tips and pointers on the school bus each morning. Looking back, I often wonder, "How the hell did he figure any of it out on his own?
To beat the Atari one you have to use a parachute on the screen where you're falling and go into a trap door on the side. That takes you to a room where you can't see anything and you just have to figure out the pattern to navigate thru it. I can't remember after that though. That was very long ago.

He cut out some of his review, I remember he talked about the other Last Crusade version for a bit, the one that made a legitimate attempt to show and play scenes from the movie, before getting into his rant about the monochrome one. What happened to that?
I have a theory. Nowadays, video game programmers, the people who usually come up with the controls, were generally gamers themselves as kids; they know what works and what doesn't. Back in the NES days they weren't; these types of games didn't exist when they were kids. They really had no idea how awkward and difficult some of this bullshit could be, and there wasn't much quality testing either so it's not like they got feedback about it until the games had been released. Of course that, only gives an excuse to the earliest examples of platformers... no excuse that the problem of stupid controls continues even to this day...
Heather Smith But you do make quite a lot of sense. Maybe the terrible controls are still there in some games. But the gameplay in the old games, yes it could be because they were actually having trial and error themselves.
I can understand what Lucas and Spielberg were going for in Crystal Skull as a 50s B science fiction movie. Too bad the story and special effects didn’t fit the characters or series.
"It doesn't know whether it wants to be a 3D or a 2D game so it ends up being a hybrid" Sonic Unleashed-Sonic Lost World in a nutshell. Only difference is those games range from decent to good.
I think the Crash games on the PS1is a better example, like in 3d sections you are just walking a corridor but in 2d sections you can still move in 3d.

God -- coming to watch all these again made me so happy.
16:00 - I always try to make that face but I can't. I can't because I crack a smile and laugh because of it.
Still watching these, still loving these. Getting me through the day.
Busts a light at 16:08 lmao
I feel sorry for you if you treat your (future) kids this way. May you never procreate
apt_nova Really? Some guy makes a sarcastic comment about how you were saying something obvious and you essentially wish him to never have kids?
Lol
The scene where he whips the game and said 'Oh shit' always is the best part.
Hahahahaha right?? I knew from the get go that was out of character and I loved it
I wonder how AVGN's reaction was when he watched Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
He actually liked it.
Yeah, I wondered the same thing!
TheCactusSword I just answered his question...
Giordan Diodato This was a waste of time then.
I liked it too.
14 years later and we still call it a trilogy.
THIS.
Already saw all of AVGN probably three or seven times already, but i just can't get enough of it!
James, i know you probably won't read this, but i really apreciate what you do, man. My nights have been easier thanks to AVGN, and you may even find that i'm kind of exagerating it a bit, but i'm a happier dude thanks the humor on your videos.
Great respect for your work, dude. I know it still didn't get into premiere, but congratulations on your movie!
Cheers from one of many brazillian fans! :)
Me too I just love watching his videos. They just brighten up my day and he is so funny
Me too also the Monster Madness
4:16 I came back just to hear the delivery of “Is there ever such a thing as a DOOR?”
2000: Indiana Jones Trilogy
2020: Back to the Future Trilogy
Yep, I'm a bit concerned about what the upcoming 4th Indiana Jones movie is going to be like after nearly 30 years without one. I hope they don't make Indiana Jones fight with the Manson family and a bunch of communists.
@@SmallSpoonBrigade *5th movie there's already a 4th
It took me a month to beat Raiders on the Atari 2600. Every day, a friend of mine would give me tips and pointers on the school bus each morning. Looking back, I often wonder, "How the hell did he figure any of it out on his own?
To beat the Atari one you have to use a parachute on the screen where you're falling and go into a trap door on the side. That takes you to a room where you can't see anything and you just have to figure out the pattern to navigate thru it. I can't remember after that though. That was very long ago.
4:04 is quite possibly the greatest line delivery the nerd has ever done.
10 years ago and it is still a classic James is a outstanding producer
13 now...
Just here again after seeing the newest episode
90% of the comments is "the nerd invented the whip dance"
10% of the comments are other
5% are saying Crystal Skull was bad.
It's just by pure fucking coincidence that there is a song few years later about the dance move.
To be honest the whips, dabs, and nae naes are stupid and makes you look like an idiot!
Hikaru Studios And teens think its hip. I may be a teen (why did i say that?) but this dab and naenae is plain dumb and makes you look like you have problems.
xGhOsT actually its 50% whip dance
And 50% hating kingdom of the crystal skull like their opinions are facts
90% of the comments are people bitching about the fourth movie
30% of the comments is people actually talking about the video
Kyle once said something like this in the theme song "he has pens but I never seen him write anything down" well now he has written down shit
This was by far one of his funniest videos. I was laughing so hard I felt like I was doing crunches 😂
He cut out some of his review, I remember he talked about the other Last Crusade version for a bit, the one that made a legitimate attempt to show and play scenes from the movie, before getting into his rant about the monochrome one. What happened to that?
This originally came out on screwattack. So he could’ve cut that out for TH-cam.
That's the High Quality/DVD version.
He didn't cut that. That review was added in for the DVD release. This video is exactly what it originally was.
16:09 Someone's significant other isn't going to be happy 😂
5:13 Oh how it breaks the heart to see such red thumbs!
I can understand what Lucas and Spielberg were going for in Crystal Skull as a 50s B science fiction movie.
Too bad the story and special effects didn’t fit the characters or series.
Let's just pretend it's still a trilogy and not a quintology...
9:04 I honestly thought that was my phone on vibrate.
The animation for the snakes is remarkable.
ngl in the beginning i have to admit it’s actually one of the few times that the nerd was actually excited
Classic AVGN never gets old. Good times.
7:38 the original whip nay nay
5:52
love james' face when he goes to say
"and when I say it can be beat, thats hypothetical"
Cracks me up XD
Im rewatching every single AVGN episode to not miss any references in AVGN 1&2 Deluxe
"It doesn't know whether it wants to be a 3D or a 2D game so it ends up being a hybrid"
Sonic Unleashed-Sonic Lost World in a nutshell. Only difference is those games range from decent to good.
I think the Crash games on the PS1is a better example, like in 3d sections you are just walking a corridor but in 2d sections you can still move in 3d.
CodeNameZ Oh yeah, I've seen gameplay from those games. How weird
Sonic Generations and Sonic Rivals 1&2 too. And Sonic Blast (kinda)
Zel G. Generations was included since it came out before Lost World
+Leopold Litchenstein (SpongeBobfan1.5) Mega Man X7 also
James: "For 19 years we've been calling it the Indiana Jones Trilogy
But now: it's the last day we can actually call it that."
Me: I still call it that.
But that's not what it is.
James actually liked the movie, did you know?
At 5:42 i totally thought my device froze!! XD
This was one of the best videos from this guy.
i really love when he goes all multiple nedrgasm for the movie franchise, what with cosplay and references from the movies and whatever.
*You call this video game nerdiology??*
Which reminds me: i need to work on my whip martial arts.
Excuse me.
7:32 did he accurately just predict the whip dance move??
The whip has existed for more than 5 years
@@astonished-scout this video is 12 years old
he didnt predict it, he invented it
