    I'm a 10 handicap 6 shots better than my mates. They always say it's just that I'm a better player around the greens which is true. I use CBX and they still use blade pro wedges. It's an ego thing that they just won't try them. I can't understand why anyone chooses to make the game harder. The CBX does the exact same job but when you miss hit them (which we all do) they give better results because of the forgiveness. Great video review,

    Really liked your video comparison. After watching your video, I asked my teaching pro about the CBX wedges. He strongly recommended that I try out a 52 degree. I like the forgiving features on full shots. Short pitches and chip shots seem easier to control. So I’ve added a 56 degree CBX to the bag. Very happy, and thanks for peaking my interest in the CBX wedges.

    Been playing CBX wedges for the past few years. Have a "well used" 54 that is my go to around the greens. Going to update it with a 56/12 CBX ZipCore. Also have 50 CBX and 52 CBX2 that I alternate at the GW. As I have a 46PW (TM SLDR) - I can gap easily 4* or 6* depending on the wedge makeup. Top of the bag is a 58 CBX that I only use for short side up and downs. Have played Vokeys, Ping Eye 2's and Tommy Armour 845 Silver Scots (talking 1980's on the Ping and the TA). Have thoroughly enjoyed the CBX wedges and will continue to use them a my primary gamer. Your video helped me opt for the CBX over potentially the RTX. Good work...

    Great test thanks. I love Cleveland wedges. Last year I special-ordered CBX full face w graphite shafts 56 & 60. They accidently shipped me the RTX instead but I ended up keeping them figuring why not go with the better player wedge even though I'm a mid-handicapper. I do like the RTX feel but your test confirms I left some extra forgiveness on the table bypassing the CBX.

    I will also add that the advantages of the CBX ZipCore wedge are more noticeable for full-swing clubs like a gap wedge or pitching wedge, and I would personally still prefer using bladed wedges for closer approach shots and touchy chip shots around the green.
    For left-handed golfers, however, it should be noted that the CBX ZipCore does not come in anything lower than a 50*-degree loft, whereas righties can get this wedge in 44/46/48 lofts if so desired.
    But in a nutshell, there are many handicappers out there who will have to decide where they want the extra forgiveness that the CBX ZipCore wedge offers, and where they don't.
    For me, there is no chance I would replace my bladed sand wedge and lob wedge with a CBX ZipCore wedge.

    I’m a 3HC and just started playing a CBX 44, 50, and 56 after hitting my buddies 52. I gap all my clubs 6 degrees to give me roughly 20 yard gaps and only carry 10 clubs. I just choke down an inch or so on inbetween shots…might be a mental thing or maybe there’s something to less choice in clubs, but I really don’t care because it works for me. Anyway, was playing Wilson staff blade wedges and I believe these CBX’s are going to get me closer to scratch…missed wedge shots are where my game suffers the most pain. Great review man, happy golfing.

  • @tonyk501

    The CBX ZipCore is an extremely forgiving wedge with excellent turf interaction, but the wedge head feels too lightweight if you end up swapping out to a heavier, stiffer wedge shaft, which for me is a 125gram wedge shaft.
    For those using the stock 115gram spinner shaft the CBX ZipCore wedge comes with, however, this may not be as noticeable an issue.
    But for those players who prefer more feel, more feedback, and a more bottom-heavy/head-heavy swing feel, stick to the Cleveland RTX series wedges, although those will be less forgiving on mis-hits.
    That said, based on the forgiveness factor alone, the CBX ZipCore wedge could be one of those strange golf clubs one may decide to keep using in their bag anyway despite not loving how it feels when actually swinging it.

    Remember to change the rotation when you test clubs. Most players will hit the second club better. Excellent video. Sure you need a new wedge? Your action is solid. You could play either. Just practice. Really do not need the CBX. I find the new RTX6 with Zipcore is the best of both worlds. Very forgiving and more versatile than the CBX, but has the same tech. A little sleeker too.

    • @mistahshorthitter
      @mistahshorthitter  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know about my action being solid but I'm glad you think so. I'm more interested in forgiveness than versatility or sleekness and I find the CBX to be more forgiving for me in the 58 degree. Everyone's different and I'm glad you found what works for you. Also, that video is 6 months old so if I didn't rotate clubs I apologize. I don't even remember the video.

    Follow-up review on this CBX ZipCore wedge:
    Currently using/testing it in a 50* gap wedge, and even though it doesn't feel or sound as nice as hitting a bladed wedge, I will continue using it for now just for the sheer amount of forgiveness it offers, especially when playing in the current season's wet, soft, and mucky conditions.
    Will probably go back to using my bladed gap wedge when the turf is drier and firmer in the heat of summer, but will also probably end up keeping the 50-degree ZipCore gap wedge around as a backup option when turf conditions are less than ideal.
    As previously stated, the CBX ZipCore seems to feel designed more for full swings, and will not give the more experienced golfer the same kind of feel and feedback on short touch shots and chips around the greens that bladed wedges will, while a beginner or amateur player may not care about this aspect, however, and may just want the playability and forgiveness that the ZipCore wedge offers, regardless of feel.

    Doing a bag purge shortly and I was agonizing over the rtx, cbx and sticking with vokeys. I'm seriously considering cavity backs now that I'm maturing and realizing that while the traditional/classic me loves the look of the vokeys, I realistically would be better off with cavity back wedges (I'm a 13 handicapbut hoping to drop to a 10)

  • @roberttaylor1801
    @roberttaylor1801 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I know what the test showed of course but as an opinion the rtx was the better wedge. A 58° you want height and you were getting that. The cbx wasnt givng you that so for this degree of wedge it was hard to judge where the ball was ending up. Not so much milling on the face perhaps. The rtx was the better fit for you because from all those lies if you wanted a lower flight you just use a 50/52/54.

      I used to try the specialty shots with stock wedges and sometimes it worked and when it didn’t it would usually end up a bogey or worse.
      I decided to go to against the grain and common technique and just use the wedges just like my other irons. No intentional lob shot or working the ball.
      Just selecting the right loft and swing, and letting the CB wedge do its job.
      Exception little chip and run, and even then I started to use them like a putter , and wedge game got better with less skill.
      The only thing I modified is that wedges are not full swing shots for me,
      So Pw, Gw, Sw, and lob 58. Are never more than3/4 but can be less when needed.
      Looking forward to the new driver choice, I feel yah . Did the same thing went back to my previous driver. It wasn’t broken to fix.
      We always think newer is better , and with certain clubs we never change if it works.

    CBX4 is even better. If these wedges are for mid to higher score players ….two things suggested to Cleveland: 1. 14* of bounce on 56* is way too much , 12 at most 2. Shafts paired with are again way too stiff….instead of graphite 80 gr Mamiya Dart go down to @ 60 gr. For exemple even Titleist offer a choice for these players ( including me ) of a Tensei shaft AV AM2 « A » much easier to play.
    But these wedges are excellent and FUN to play instead of creating anxiety.
