It needs to b taller to ingress and egress easier and I think that will also get u farther from the rope .charge $10 dollars more to improve quality, mesh and make it better. Hey how’s mom ? i own this tent too still, in coyote brown color, but i don't use it anymore, since i discovered that outdoor hammocks with tarp and all that stuff, are more comfortable and more fun to use. used it for 2-3 seasons couple of years ago. as i remember, the tent was not really water proof at that time and a mayor flaw was, at least in my opinion, that bug net at the sides near the floor. because even in a slightly windy day or night, i could feel the wind rush through the tent. the air circulation should be elsewhere but not near the ground. but what to expect for a cheap tent. it's a good weather tent for summer time only.
I'm an oldie and would find it impossible to get in out of it. Have you seen the Vango fitting which allows two A-poles to fit and provide the essential spike for the tent. It would give you a clear doorway. See ebay. I've got two ridge tents which I love and am converting them to A-frame doors. However, mine are 4' and 5' high and so give me more entry and head room to start with. Just a thought, bro'.
Back in the early 70s my mother gave me a similar tent but a little more head room. It was a real cheapie. I was able to use it occasionally to the mid 80s. The last time was with my GF, in a mountain range ⛰ during a night of torrential rains 🌧. It didn’t leak one bit. Now this tent packed away quite neatly so it was no problem either on my various motorcycles 🏍 or my car 🚙. My point is if they could make a plastic like tent like this in the early 70s that was inexpensive … why not today?

@@MoreThanJustaCleaner Yes water came in at the lower ventilation windows on the upper seam. Leaked only on the sides at hard rain.You have to seam seal all untaped seams from the cabine at the outside !! Its important! I did use from Gear Aid - Fast Cure Seam Sealant. This stuff is verry good and complete invicible. My Tent is from 2017.
I think it depends what you want to use it for... Is it going to last for years of use in crap conditions? Hell no! Is it ok for an occasional overnighter with a risk of showers? Yeah, it's ok.

Wax the zips for ease of use. I would spray it for waterproofing. I got a cheap 1 man tent - Blackthorn in camo. All good fella.

It does pack down quite small into a longer, thinner pack. It's a little longer that half the pole length and about as fat as a 2l milk container.
