Cabsim is extra tasty adding a little EQ in the daw to boost the lows and a little bit of the mids. I use the stock logic graphic eq for a simple adjustment before a room reverb with the Crush 20 and it sounds incredible!
Yeah they really do don't they. Admittedly, I rarely use it but after making this video and re-watching the dirty channel parts, I realized just how great it sounds, almost makes my drive pedals unnecessary.
I’ve had my 35RT for about 7 years now. Although I have larger/more expensive Oranges, I probably use this one the most. It’s so handy for daily noodling and working out ideas, while having an awesome tone. I have taken it to informal jams and, cranked, it held its own against another guitarist, drummer, and bass player. The others were amazed at its capabilities, especially for its size and price point.
I like my 35RT a lot. I have the amp output lead wires wired to be able to drive different 4-ohm cabinets but still be able to plug in the speaker if I want to use the stock internal speaker. The reverb isn’t too bad if you don’t have a reverb pedal of some kind but for me does leave a lot to be desired so I use different reverb pedals with it in the effects loop. This was the cheapest Orange Crush amp that had all the features I needed. On the bigger CR60c it has spring, plate & hall reverbs which are much better quality but I didn’t want to spend that much even used. I got my 35RT for about $201 includes tax used at Guitar Center.
$201 including tax is a great price for the 35RT. Mine was probably around $350 including shipping and everything. And yeah, amp reverb is whatever to me. I have the Hall of Fame Reverb 2 which is good enough for me.
Have the same amp but ib black. It is a great amp when i have to play somewhere else , i can take it on the bike, and goes from clean to dirty. Just a small great amp.Takes pedals well.
I appreciate that a lot. Dimebag was awesome, one of my favourites. His playing and persona was top-tier, maybe even the last truly great rock star and performer IMO.
Hey Andrew I have the 35rt and yes it’s a great amp but for some reason when using pedals like distortion or overdrive pedals on the clean channel it sounds like crap. Anyways I run my pedals on the dirty channel with minimal gain like around 5 and set the pedals to taste and it sounds great. Most people on utube are saying run the pedals on the clean channel. Just wondering if I’m doing something wrong.
Sounds like you don't like it. I always run my pedals on the clean channel. That said, there are a million things that could be going on. Without a video or a picture, there's not much I can say.
The DS-1 isn't that expensive so I would just get both. Frankly, those are both iconic pedals that you'll find a use for at some point, so again, I would just get both of them.
Because the volume at 2 is too quiet and the volume at 2 and a 1/4 is too loud. With the Black Amp Box, I can crank it to 4 or 5, and then dial in the volume precisely where I want.
@@andrewsiemon You gotta cook the preamp on a SS a little too, this is actually great for SS amps as they sound like shit when they have power sag clipping. I have the JHS Little Black Box too and out it in the loop of my Orange Rockerverb100MKII which has NO MASTER volume so it lets me cook the preamp a bit and keep power amp sag down. Sag is good in Stoner Doom Metal but the other genres are not as sag friendly. Also put it after my Revv preamp board into my Dark Terror Return loop for low volume pedalboard rigs,
I play in a few bands, one a Death Metal band and another of Metal and Hard Rock Covers. This amp ABSOLUTELY IS ONLY MEANT FOR ROCK STYLE MUSIC. IT IS PERFECT FOR THAT TYPE OF MUSIC, BUT NOT FOR METAL, THE OVERDRIVE SOUNDS LIKE POOP ONCE YOU USE A DETUNED GUITAR AND JUST DOESN'T SOUND GOOD AT ALL.
Video caught my eye so started watching to learn about the amp but the first minute and a half was just senseless noodling, ostensibly to show us what the dirty channel is like?? WE GET IT....coulda gotten it in 15 seconds so why all the extra time-suck playing? A 22 minute video with 4 minutes of worthwhile information and 18 minutes of annoying playing......

Thanks for the tip. I’ll try that. I hate how tinny the cabsim sounds without EQ in the DAW as you’ve mentioned.
Orange crush create such a good overdriven sound, i miss mine sometimes

@@andrewsiemon That's what I noticed as well, no need to plug in the Rat.

Agreed. Takes pedals really well
I recently bought a 20W w/Reverb and it's been a blast to play around with.
I’d like to try the regular 20W. Last time I checked, they were only $200
Atmosphere is the best Chinese branded reverb pedal out there too, your playing and even this tone reminds me a lot of Dimebag...
I appreciate that a lot. Dimebag was awesome, one of my favourites. His playing and persona was top-tier, maybe even the last truly great rock star and performer IMO.
My daily practic. I have tube amps but this works
Yeah, I need me a mini tube amp though.
awesome video! what is your settings for treble, bass, and mids on both settings?
I’ll have to get back to you on that
The 35rt is probably great, but if you tune low and want to crank music through the Aux, don't get the 20RT, the 8" speaker barely lasted me 6 months

Ts9 or Boss sd1, which pedal works better as a boost for the orange crush dirty channel? I've got a Crush20rt

Will it handle my Boss GX100 multi fx pedal well in your opinion.
whats the point of the black box if Its already a solid state master volume amp?

@@KelticKabukiGirl Makes sense. Must be why I feel it sounds better cranked up a bit with the Black Box in the FX Loop.
@@andrewsiemon the volume adds gain as well as sustain so. I don't think there is a buffer in the JHS LBB ...
Is the sound muffled without mic
Not sure what you’re referring to
@ in the amp muffled without any mic
It has a boxy, somewhat muffled sound in the room (not mic'd) because the 10 inch speaker is squeezed into a small cabinet.
