  • Very interesting bows and fully worth a closer look. I know that many feel upset because of the terminology 'war bow", yet the bows are made in relation to the design features of the Jose war bow, just without having the poundage :) two great bows for sure

    warbows is a modern english word for "heavy draw weight bows". it is a modern word to simplify communication in the archery world, just like the word horsebow, or longbow, or recurve. im not sure why the korean archery community pick the warbow word for a joseon military bow, i think the alternative "military" word is better as it does not imply heavy draw weight. i think the main problem with the warbow word for korean archery is that it implies non-joseon bows are not war bows

      @@maxparry8411 but that implies non-joseon korean bows are not used for war, but joeson is only one time period. what about the earlier time period? what about the stone age or bronze age koreans? they also used bows for war. "warbow" is just a modern word to simply our lives to indicate heavy draw weight, just like words like longbow

    After 10 hours of stressful, highway driving with all three kids in the car, arriving home to parent with my wife through the bedtime routines for our exhausted kids, and followed by a minor electrical fire (yay. They are pretty. 🏹 Only that the "Siyah" are somewhat robust. In my Nawalny Korean warbow they are smaller and provide great speed. But of course they are different and each craftsman has his style. Thanks for the review Armin. 😊

    • @jkre
      @jkre 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This is the classical case of copying the originals siyah size without thinking that the originals were 100+ lbs draw weight, and then they make that size siyahs to 30 pound bows, so roughly 3 times larger siyahs than supposed to for such bow
      (This was just an example, i only watched 34 seconds of the video so far, cus i immediately had to come and comment about those massive siyahs)

    • @ianchan8859
      @ianchan8859 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jkre The Gojah/Siyah thickness is supposed to help with the vibration of higher poundage bows. It doesn't make sense to make them that thick on a lower poundage bow, and it decreases the overall distance the bow can shoot. Since Koreans shoot 145m, this is detrimental.

    • @jkre
      @jkre 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ianchan8859 thickness helps with vibrations? By what rules of physics makes that happen? Thicker have more mass, more mass is harder to stop, hence having more mas should increase vibrations, not decrease them.
      But yes, it indeed makes no sense in any draw weight bow to have thicker siyahs than is required for durability, because of that extra mass. Every bit of extra mass on moving parts of the bow is extra mass to move around, so the more unnecessary mass to move, the more energy is used to move it, hence less is left to move the arrow. And that applies to all bows, no matter the draw weight, but heavier bows need more durable (thicker) parts so they don't break by the force of the bow.

    • @ianchan8859
      @ianchan8859 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel like you explained the answer to your own question. Wasn't trying to stir controversy. Whenever you want to tune the vibration out of a bow adding, adding mass always helps. Adding mass to the limbs via dampeners. Adding mass to the string, making it thicker or adding silencers. Shooting a heavier arrow. All help dissipate the vibration of a bow, and make it quieter.

    • @jkre
      @jkre 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ianchan8859 I'm not too familiar with dampeners to the limbs, but correct me if I'm wrong, they come to the mid limb, not the limb tips like siyahs. Those would increase the inertia of the limbs against vibrations, it's a bit different when the weight is in the mid limbs than in the tips.
      Heavier string and arrow both use more of the energy available, so it is away from the limbs, mass in the limb tips is in the limbs causing the vibrations by the energy staying in the limbs and not moved away from them

    I think a warbow is define by its draw weight not bow design. Those syiahs look like they are meant to support heavy draw weight and slight overbuilt for 40 pounds

    I like very much your reviews, but by the scoring at the end (not only here, but in general) your love for bows overwrites your critical sense🙂; i.e. you mention some smaller critical points almost always, but you rarely show them in the rating, though you changed from the 5 points system to 10 points for this purpose...

    Good looking and performing bows! The biocomposite bow seems real smooth but for the price I think there may be other options out there for performance. Think Nawalny, about the same price. Regular laminated price is ok but there's a lot of competition out there for Korean style bows! Thanks for another great review as usual my friend.

    • @jkre

      Lots of competition for later style korean bows. Joseon warbow style bows has had only Nawalny, and now these, the joseon bow is very rare on the market

      @@jkre Thanks for the info. I do understand that it's a Joeson war bow and Nalwany is probably the only one handy that's making them but for the price I'm not sure by the time you pay for shipping it's quite costly. The biocomposite is the one I'd want just for smoothness of draw and overall asthetics. It's very nicely made but for the money and performance Nalwany would be my choice, his price includes a 2 year warranty. Thanks for the comment my friend I love to hear other people's perspectives.

    I just measure the string before stringing it so I know where the extra serving length is.
    It’s amazing while speed isn’t everything the carbon laminate Koreans from kaya and daylite just push the speed with those modern materials. After I get my Istvan bow a Kaya black K and daylite ottoman are my next bows. Then of course a Turkish monolith from the master himself Nawalny as a capstone to my collection. Then I just need to find a good Tatarz
    Your reviews really help

    I watched this TH-cam and ordered laminated one.

    I don't think it'll be good for your reputation if Heekiong makes and sells such poor-quality bows.
