Something for everyone to consider. The other members of your party are pawns that others create. And while the suggestions given here for what to take for a pawn based on your class are by no means bad. You do have the ability to take other peoples pawns into your group to fill in roles. If you take a fighter to tank or a mage to support (as LuckyGhost suggested nearly every time). Most other people will be doing the same thing. That means you're less likely to have others use your pawn (which comes with benefits like the first game). Because so many others will be doing the same. Playing with a pawn that's a thief, archer, warrior, or sorc. May be a little tedious to always look for a fighter to tank or mage to heal/support. But it will mean that your personal pawn is in higher demand and more likely to be used. By all those people running a tank/mage main pawn. Also, if you're going to progress with the Wayfarer in mind. You'll need to play literally all the base classes you intend to utilize the skills of the most. As the Wayfarer doesn't grant you all of those abilities of the other classes. It simply allows you to equip multiple weapon types to swap between. So, you will need to play, and level, multiple base/advanced classes through the game. This means actively grinding and not just progressing through the story. Something else to keep in mind. No matter what class you play. You can always equip any augment you've unlocked. So, even if you don't intend on utilizing any Warrior abilities, for example. You may want to utilize the augment to reduce permanent health loss on taking damage. Which means playing the Warrior class till you unlock that augment.
I plan on going for a Fighter/Warrior maybe try Mystic Spearhand with a Mage pawn, partly so the other pawns I pick up can be whatever catches my eye. I will play the first hour or so with the four starter vocations before I start my proper playthrough though to get a feel for the different combat styles, so I may play something completely different.
I think the idea is to just find a collection of classes you like playing and then default to warfarer. The trickster class I feel like on it’s own is useless, unless you’re surrounded by beneficial environmental factors or by strong pawns, but choosing trickster as a warfarer alongside the dps classes? That feels like a good time
I’m starting with a mage and chose my pawn to be a thief, I imagine the thief performing a lot of attacks on enemies and easily distracting them/drawing aggro which is perfect for me being able to stand back and cast spells from a safe distance. I’m aware the Fighter will have an ability to draw aggro but there’s also roleplay reasons for my choices so I’ll prob just hire a second pawn to be a fighter vocation.
my first thought and when I created my character early was me fighter, pawn archer but now im thinking im going archer and pawn mage. does anyone know if you can change the character that you've already created pre launch ?
If you saved it as the one you will launch with then unfortunately no. If you prepurchased the deluxe set then you will be provided with the chance to change the pronouns of your adventurer, LONG LIVE SWEET BABY INC!!!!
1:29: "You will have to reacquire the levels that you gained on your original vocation". So if I started out as a mage; hit level 10; then acquired the archer vocation, I'll lose my mage levels?
I'm going fighter. I get Goblin Slayer vibes from the animations and think it'd be fun. However, all the classes seem fun. Which is a good nod to Capcom and the Dragons Dogma team.
I played the hell out of DDDA. It was always good to have a large mage pawn. The weight allowed him to carry a ton of items so he was basically my Sherpa that healed and buffed the party.
Climbing on these bigger beasts and wrecking them while all the spells and magic is going off all around you is where the action and adrenaline will be...its where I will be. Archer will be slept on and op for newbs imo, it was my first voc, in DD1
A couple questions. Can you use fighter in the wayfarer class? And in dd1 I remember stat progression being different based on what class you leveled up as. So, you start as a fighter you get more hp and resistance than that of an archer per level up. Archer would get more max stamina and more physical attack. If we wanted to min max or boost a certain stat that we wanted, then we may have to play a class that we really didn't want to play. Playing 150 levels into a class you don't want to play felt terrible. Is this the same in dd2 or does each class have a unique stat pool whenever you switch and based on the gear you are wearing. Edit: Great video. Definitely got a like and sub from me.
yes, you can use it in the Warfarer class. and each class has its own stat pool so you don't have to level things you dont want to - unless you want to unlock their augments :) but this wont mess up your stat pool
@@LuckyGhost That is great news. I'm probably going to mix archer, mystic spear and the assassin. Teleport with spear switch to assassin for swirl attack and use the evasion shot to gain distance. Pretty much all the quick characters lol
I'm starting off as a fighter, here's why. I always start off as a caster and change my spec later down the road because casting isn't nearly as fun as melee. I've been doing this since EverQuest, start off as a Wizard ended up maining a Monk. World of Warcraft, I sarted off as Mage and ended up maiming a Rogue. Elden Ring, started off as a Astrologer ended up going with the Rivers of Blood katana Bleed Build. So for this game, I'm just skipping caster he'll defiantly be my Main Pawn though! So in a way it's like I'm playing with both of my main classes which has me excited.
i'm either gonna be a fighter or theif with to end with mystic spearhead and maybe a mage pawn, cover my back and all or maybe a trickster. Thoughts? new to these types of games only really played fifa, GTA and fortnite games of that nature, super excited
as warfarer, trickster, sorcerer and archer seems interesting. As trickster you trick enemies to attack the biggest one, then nuke them all gathered around the big one with the sorcerer. But if there is just one big enemy you switch to archer for weak points and mage when mob is down. The only problem here is lack of rapid magic damage for bosses, but I'm sure that between trickster and sorc, something can always work out.
Man, I agree with the pawn choices for the most part. However, I'm a little worried everyone is gonna choose mage or fighter and we won't have thieves and archers to pull from the rift from friends (for free).
For myself I’ll be a mage then I want to be a mystic spearhand as for my pawn it’s either archer or thief . I’m wondering if there will be a transmog or an option to change gear color to match . And I’m glad they got rid of that hideous body wrap. I’ve also already created my arisen and pawn in the demo.
Im new to DD. Will i ever be able to combine 2 vocations.? Like i want to start as an archer but eventually be able to use melee weapons (daggers, a sword, etc)... basically role-playing an elf from LOTR (Tauriel) 🥹 Also, how many pawns are in your party? Does the # increase over time, or fixed from the start?
You make one pawn yourself and get 2 more that are created by other players that you can swap out. So a total of 3 pawns with you. Ya you can live your dream, start as an archer then probably try out warfarer later in the game
The trickster seems strange you said it does no damage , so you rely fully on your pawn to do all the damage wouldn’t that make you over weaker as a team or just easy to kill if attacked by an enemy ?
If it’s anything like the first one you should be able to fill your health all the way back up without resting , by finding plants and and berries and things , again if it’s like the first one you SHOULD be able to combine things to make curatives and push that back up without resting
I've never played as an Archer before so this will be a start for me, but I'll be headed straight for the Magic Archer. Might as well get the basics down before introducing Magic right
I'm thinking archer and archer and pawn archer first and then magic archer, and pawn archer. Other two paws probably fighters or fighter and a sorcerer. At the very end I will take warfarer as archer/magic archer/sorcerer and my main pawn would switch to rogue (or mage for super joint casts). Or I will go fighter then warrior and pawn mage then sorcerer, if I want to do close combat more. The other two would be some ranged ones depending on situation we are in.
I’m gonna go warrior with a main pawn of mage for the support type spells. Then other two pawns probably sorcerer and archer for pesky things with wings
I don't ever see people recommend playing Sorcerer Arisen with a Sorcerer pawn, and I don't understand why... spell syncing is so good! Is there negatives to this combination that I don't understand?
The Trickster for some reason really appeals to me, but we`ll see, I might do it on a second run because the class seems a bit complicated for a newbie like me.
@@ates8129 ya probably, its for balance, if jack of all trades are better at something or just as good it overshadow the normal one , what makes it strong are the combos

its different than DD1, all of your stats assume you earned every level on that vocation when you switch to a vocation. this way you don't have to worry about how many levels you spend on each one, and in what order. cheers!
I think I'm going to use a fighter and have a warrior as my pawn. That way I get the best of both offense and defense and then My other two pawns will be an Archer and a mage
