Ah yes, the anthem of a depressed, deranged, and downtrodden salesman. The most interesting theme and character Chapter 2 brought us. No need to be too confused. The introduction to this theme and the character Spamton is meant to be weird and out of nowhere but you see plenty of hints of his underlying anger and blatant insanity which made him a very compelling character to follow. Toby Fox is a wild one to be sure
And so perfectly completed by "BIG SHOT" this is is that when you listen to it you really feel like you're shown what happens when that dangerosity and insanity reach their goal (aka Spamton tricking us into leading him the NEO Armor) and that now there's no going back you're just going to regret facing though this creepy, and pretty difficult boss (assume you're average at video games because having followed Deltarune quite a bit before Chapter 2 release Spamton NEO was a pretty easy Boss Fight for me and that's the case for a lot of people)
The fact this is a battle song for a literal Spam Bot trying to make a deal makes the fact his songs are an ear worm work so well. The phrase “nows your chance to be a Big Shot” is literally his sales pitch and it’s stuck in your head
Toby is really interesting because he’s one of the few developers/composers who seems to use this 8/16 bit style as a genre rather than a hardware limitation. Like it takes something that was caused due to the times and evolves it into something that would be fun now. Like he could have kept the art and used full music with real instruments but he chose to just go bonkers with the 8-bit style
@@angel__king Isn't 8-bit objectively the style of the NES and Sega Master System, whereas 16-bit is the SNES and Genesis? Because 8-bit sounds more like the bleep bloops and 16 bit sounds more sampled or synthesized. Toby combines both in his music, using various SNES samples (like from earthbound in a lot of cases) and also NES instruments.
Gonna say that there’s actually a second version of this for the secret boss, the title for that one being “BIG SHOT”, now if you combine the names of both themes you get “NOW’S YOUR CHANCE TO BE A BIG SHOT” (I also recommend listening to BIG SHOT as it’s much better imo
also, his first track [when he gets out of the trashcan] is great for setting a suspenseful mood, and his defeated track [dialtone] is just a delightful mix of defeatism, sorrrow, empathy, and unnatural horror
this song is SO catchy, that i actually wanna admit that i slap on a 10 hour version of it when ever i get assigned a large essay for my college courses. it keeps me awake and focused lmao
The fact this is a battle song for a literal Spam Bot trying to make a deal makes the fact his songs are an ear worm work so well. The phrase “nows your chance to be a Big Shot” is literally his sales pitch and it’s stuck in your head
Toby Fox music is always an experience. Undertale, Deltarune, doesn't really matter. Now, since you've heard NOW'S YOUR CHANCE TO BE A, it'd be fitting to do BIG SHOT next, as a couple others have suggested and explained already. But more Toby Fox in general is my suggestion.
Hey Marco, in case you choose to react to BIG SHOT as well, I'd recommend giving Deal Gone Wrong and/or Call For Help a listen as well, since they set the deranged tone very well. In addition, since this is pretty niche info, there's also some scrambled vocals in BIG SHOT at the 1:07 mark that you might like to listen for. There's 2 main interpretations of what these lyrics could be (or, in my opinion, both are actually played but at the same time on different frequencies, like the Yanny/Laurel thing. I’m a little surprised you found out about this one and not it’s “sequel” BIG SHOT. You should totally listen to it. Also listen to a song called “Spamton,” it’s much calmer, but still slaps.
A lot of Toby Fox's music have leitmotifs from earlier songs so maybe it'd be better to start from the beginning to see if you'd catch them? It's one of the ways he connects characters both in theme and story, for example this song has a part taken from another character's song in order evoke the same feeling.
One of my favorite songs from Toby Fox in general, that and 'Big Shot', the better version of Now's Your Chance To Be A. You really should play Undertale and Deltarune Chapters 1 and 2 when you get a chance, the music is a really giant part of the game on top of its great story.
You guessed it right! In a way, the phrase “Now’s Your Chance To Be A Big Shot” is to empower our character. Spamton wants his strings to be broken so he can be free, so when he sees our character (which has the same sort of problem), he can relate and wants to help. He’s just a glitch though so he seems all silly in the game. Deltarune is a very wacky game on the surface, but it does have a deep, creepy story underneath.
Yup! This is Battle theme of spamton he is glitchy machine character so this is why music is so messed up to suit his personality (love this track) BIG SHOT OST 39 is superior version of "NOW'S YOUR CHANCE TO BE A"
OMG I love how you were like: "huh? Whats this?" when Nows your chance to be a big shot first came up and then started jammin to it. Perfect reaction xD
This is actually the music for the first fight against a corrupted spam bot. He's a salesman that occasionally tries to scam you while also selling you the idea of becoming a big shot with him. He also glitches a lot, hence the broken lyrics: Now's your chance to be a big shot ! Be a big- be a big- *[weird laughter] shot (low pitched)/[weirder laughter x2]* So yeah, this music fits his character perfectly, just like his 6 other tracks
toby fox's music for me is impressive in that he's pretty much entirely self-taught, uses free soundfonts/samples found on google, and has incredible talent for writing unique melodies bursting with personality
Waouh im a bit positively surprised to see you reacting a Deltarune song. Toby Fox is a really great developper for me. oh toby fox has honestly made some of the best video games and best Music for those video games (he created both Undertale and Deltarune). I highly recommend "Battle Against a True Hero" and "Bergentrückung + Asgore" from Undertale, as well as "Attack of the Killer Queen" from Deltarune chapter 2.
Oh wow, I wasn't expecting this! This track is really nice, but there are other ones there are more popular (from deltarune and undertale, too). In my opinion, a reaction of basically any song from both of these games are very appreciated!
if you're curious the first two chapters (which at the time of commenting are the only chapters that are out) are available for free and i think is roughly 10 hours (probably more)
You should definitely check out Chris Christodoulou's music for the game Risk of Rain & Risk of Rain 2, I think it would be an interesting genre for you to dissect ;P Personally the one that is a must-listen is ''Coalescence'' from the first game (it never stops giving me goosebumps), but ''Once in a Lullaby'' and ''…con lentitud poderosa'' are personal favorites of mine. Anyways I hope you have a great day Marco and I can't wait to see what music you discover next!
I'd be kind of fascinated to see your reaction to the scene this is a part of - how would the context change the song? Because it's not quite how you're reading it, but Toby Fox really composes in a way that can be a little hard to read in isolation, I think. It IS a bop, tho. :D
This is quite the odd choice for your first time listening to a Toby Fox song. If you want a little more definitive recommendations, here are some: - Undertale ost - - Ruins, Waterfall, Spear of Justice (same leitmotif... for some reason, I'm honestly not sure why) - Ghost Fight, Dummy!, Spider Dance (same leitmotif) - Home - Heartache, ASGORE (shared leitmotifs) - Another Medium/Core (Same overall song, different arrangements) - It's Raining Somewhere Else - Death by Glamour - Undertale (The main theme, which appears everywhere) - Your Best Nightmare (hope you enjoy very dissonant breakcore influenced drum and bass) - Here We Are (An unusual tempo) - Hopes and Dreams (Guess what theme returns) - Reunited (Like I said, it's everywhere) - Battle Against a True Hero (Toby's Touhou influences come very apparent in this) - Megalovania (It's the one, the only, the song that has been meme'd to death. It has also been around ever since Toby made an edgy Earthbound rom hack. It currently has 5 official versions, one of which is an Adrian Brody meme.) Or just do an entire playthrough of the game so you can properly appreciate the soundtrack in its full context. There's plenty more in Deltarune too, but I feel like this is enough of a list for now.
This theme is from a certain character(to avoid spoilers) from Chapter 2 of Deltarune, if you ever get to play Deltarune you will find MANY bops like this one. and if you want get even more into it play Undertale first.
If you enjoyed this and want to check out more of his Deltarune music, definitely check out BIG SHOT, Attack of the Killer Queen, The World Revolving, and Megalovania.
Watching this again and it makes me happy to see you enjoy this song! I'm curious if the Undertale 5th Anniversary concert that is uploaded on TH-cam would be something you'd considered livestreaming, similar to the other concerts we've watched? A Japanese orchestra arranged the 8-bit/acoustic soundtrack of Undertale into a orchestral arrangement, and it's a really amazing experience (although I think since you may plan to play the game, it would probably be best to experience the music in game first and then watch it, unless you like the other way around instead). It would be awesome if you could check it out if you ever have some time in the future and share on the channel as well! Thanks for all your videos on this channel, always a great time 🙏🏻
I thought an opera singer would be more allured to "Queen" from the 2nd chapter of Deltarune because the melody is kind of opera-ish. If you want to research Toby Fox's work, you should definitely check out Undertale soundtrack, it was Toby Fox's first big project and he did all of the music in it. The songs I'd particularly recommend is "Heartache" and "Home" because they are pretty early in the game.
Don't know if you've heard any, but the FF13 trilogy has amazing music. They're my favorite in the franchise (FF7R is catching up, though; we'll see as that progresses). Sins of the Father from MGS5 would be cool, as well.
This is something you can jam too. All I need to say about this classic styled bop. But I think Deltarun is made by the same people that made undertale which is cool. Never played it but we all know the memes lol
Hey Marco, i know it has nothing to do with this specific song, but i would love you to listen to Kings from Prokect Wingman, i think you would absolutely love it!
The comments may be overwhelming, but you don't have to force yourself (if you don't want to, ofc) to listen to Big Shot. Imo it's equally as good as Now's Your Chance to be A and while I am interested on your opinions on BIG SHOT and the rest of the Undertale/Deltarune OST tracks, I'd also respect it if maybe you think reacting to UT/DR musical strays away from your usual content or if you decide to instead listen to the soundtrack casually (ie you still decide to listen to them, but you don't make a video about your thoughts on it). In the end your choice comes before our wants, and even if by deciding to react to non Toby Fox music you don't get as much views or something like that I hope you can find comfort in the fact that I and a couple others will stick around your channel regardless. This fandom can be quite the handful so I apologise for the bad Deltarune fans. Looking forward to future awesome content!
This is a sweet message, people in the fandom have been nothing but nice! I didn't know Big Shot existed before the comments! No worries on my end but I appreciate your support so much :)
Hehehe you definitely have to listen to BIG SHOT at some point. ALSO all of Toby Fox's music slaps. I have yet to find a song he made that doesn't slap. I highly recommend listening to the Deltarune and Undertale tracks.
Context: You are throwing hands with a crazy homeless former car salesman who represents spam emails (the game [at this point] takes place in a world that represents the internet and computers) and wants to convince you into believing that you giving him your money, bank account information, and soul will make you a “Big Shot.”
You should stream deltarune Chapter 1 AND 2! It's a great game with tons of great music (with very distinct leitmotifs). Let's go for a pacifist run shall we?
Also, I've read that you bought undertale last week, and some people said that you should stream it! If there's the case, there's a thing you should know before you do it.
[lowkey spoilers for deltarune] 2:36 you analyzing this song in such a wholesome way is very funny since this plays while the protagonist gets harassed by a virus infested and quite possibly homocidal spam bot (deltarune is weird)
Never played in Deltarune(did played and loved Undertale but I have no interest in this one) and it's safe to assume it's a boss music. Music there is tied to the gameplay and what is happening on screen and I really recommend soundtrack from the Undertale it's really great.
It’s interesting how, with no disrespect intended, you completely missed the mark on what the song is about. On the one hand I feel like you went into the interpretation wanting to say something about 8-bit videogame music in general, but on the other, I guess it’s easy to take for granted just how big of a role context plays. Even without playing Deltarune, I don’t think you would’ve made the same mistake after playing Undertale, understanding how much Toby Fox likes to play with tone and dissonance.
@@MarcoMeatball Oh, make no mistake - it’s basically impossible to guess exactly what it‘s ABOUT. I just think if you were hearing it for the first time now, you wouldn’t mistake it for a positive theme. Not without an ENORMOUS asterisk.
I went into this completely blind and have no clue what's going on. What is going on??? Did Toby Fox compose this AND make the game!?
Yes! Would definitely recommend playing through undertale and deltarune

All stand up for the Robux scammer anthem!
I wonder if you will ever do Kings from Project Wingman?
I wonder if I ever will 🤔
I won't spoil it, but basically it's the first boss theme for a little trash troll named Spamton. Kris/The Player finds them and then battle
I AM NOT A [[little]] TRASH [[troll]]
You should stream deltarune Chapter 1 AND 2! It's a great game with tons of great music (with very distinct leitmotifs).
Let's go for a pacifist run shall we?
Oh damn this slaps, love Toby's music. So catchy and makes you wanna bounce about.
Also
Day twenty of recommending Stay Gold from the Arknights OST
Also, I've read that you bought undertale last week, and some people said that you should stream it! If there's the case, there's a thing you should know before you do it.
You should listen to the Project Wingman OST. Especially Presidia, Calamity andthe killertrack KINGS these are as good as the AC tracks in my opinion.
I feel ashamed of myself now, lmao. I have Chapter 2, but haven't even played it.
Oh please listen to BIG SHOT please please
NOWS YOUR CHANCE TO BE A MARC0M3ATBALL FOR ONLY 10 KR0M3R!!!!
Can u react to (call of duty modern warfare 2 ost of their own Accord Crow's nest)
It's better if you start streaming Undertale and Deltarune. They are not as long as Genshin Impact
I still have no idea wtf this is about tbh
@@MarcoMeatball Oh, make no mistake - it’s basically impossible to guess exactly what it‘s ABOUT. I just think if you were hearing it for the first time now, you wouldn’t mistake it for a positive theme. Not without an ENORMOUS asterisk.
What a weird choice for a first listen of Toby Fox music lol.
