    Great lesson - I am an older dude so I also recall Bonham doing this stuff - the cross over as triplets and 16th note patterns - cool

      That’s actually what brought me to this video. I used to do this years ago, but didn’t fully get what I was doing. I was just copying Bonzo. But now that I’m back, well.. trying to take a more serious approach to my Bonzo-methodology.

    Floor tom and highhat combinations sound so good in my opinion because of the frequency different. Highaht Is very high pitched on the spectrum and floor tom is very low. The contrast makes it sound killer!

    It’s funny you mention that “hat/floor” patterns. I noticed Benny Greg does some super tasteful HT beats, so I sat and figured a few out.
    There is definitely a trend of people singling out those two instruments for special attention.

    I usually add more floor tom when I'm on the ride, as I can do rolls off the ride onto the floor tom. If you hit the kick with the ride, then roll off to the floor tom, and then hit the snare or another tom, you can get these rolling triplets going, while still having the ride in there and you can add hi hat with the foot too. Usually good for endings of songs where you want a big build up, or I'll do it to kinda fake almost a metal player with a double kick.

    Word. This will spice up my playing. I got some rudiments on the kit down and slowly. This with the diddle will be incorporated nicely. It may take a year, but fuck it though. The floor tom, huh? Who would've been the first to make that lesson? Word. Nice video.

    Get a remote hi hat. Better ideas will emanate, sound better and can be applied better. Crossing over ideas and patterns came out of necessity without a remote hi hat being invented yet. Be well brother.

    One thing that bugs me is the idea that we all learned to play the drums out of the womb... "we all learned to play this when we were 13..." What if we didn't start drumming until we were 14, 24, hell 74 years old! I get you meant early in your drumming timeline, but it seems remiss of people learning after in life.

    • @Riddim4
      @Riddim4 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would argue that it matters less when you learn it than that you learn it.
