I just recently found your channel and I'm so glad I did! I've been sewing for decades, from garments to quilting and embroidery, but needed a kick to get back to garment sewing. I just love the research you put into your videos. I lol'd several times during this one. You are so fun to watch and lots of helpful info. Thanks so much!

Hi Jennifer!!!! Thanks for watching. I have quite a few videos like this one on how to pair sewing patterns with Ready to wear or high end designers. It's a good way to get inspired on what to sew next. I too at times get into a little bit of a rut with so many patterns that I get paralysis analysis. Happy Sewing!!!!

I live in Geneva, IL. I would love to be able to just drive to Vogue. I saw on their email that they are all moved in to the warehouse. I agree with you about buying local and with the environment in mind. Love your videos❤️

We need to keep all those independent stores in business, we have lost so many of them to the big retailers.

I really enjoyed your video and because I lived in Skokie growing up I know vogue fabrics. Last time I came to visit pre Covid, I went to vogue and bought a lot of fabric. Had to weigh suitcase going home. two lbs under! I will continue watching. Thank you

I just made S9388 in flannel as a practice run, and I'm about to make it again in corduroy.

For the coat with the Sherpa lining you could try the Merlin coat by I AM patterns. They have it in paper and PDF. Or Simplicity 8797.

Love this 😍. Free people is ridiculously expensive for the fabric used, not being fair trade (not mentioning the shipping cost I'd have to pay to europe).
Have been getting inspiration for dresses from their site and then recreating them myself for years. I'm altering patterns I already have, mostly burda.
I am currently obsessed with their "you're a jewel" dress and just got a beautiful linen viscose blend fabric in the exact "mulberry" color.
1/5 the original price! Sewing for the win.🤗

that was a great video. I often think that I can see similarities to patterns when looking at RTW but never take the time to figure it out. Good research!

Hi Alex! What a wonderful idea! Most of the RTW clothes are so easy to sew! I love that sweater, and the True Bias Marlo is perfect for that. That's the pattern that I immediately thought of when you showed the knitted sweater. Perfect! Nothing comes to mind with the coat yet. But I'll keep thinking.

There's a vikisews patterns exactly like the pink velvet dress, much closer than McCall's because it's made for knits.

do you have a suggestion for the Free People Movement Ready Go Hoodie? I love that hoodie, but the material they used falllllls apart. So, I would love to have another hoodie in the same style that holds up better

Try the Page Hoodie from Chalk and Notch…. and try a Sweatshirt Fleece fabric or if you want something softer try French Terry for fabric

Your daughter should check out consignment stores and thrift stores. My gdaughter is 14 and an XS/S and gets all her stuff from thrifting and consignment stores. Those sizes are usually the first to be donated or consigned. That spaghetti strap dress??? My gdaug has prob 10 of them. Shes quite addicted to the hunt. And that suede jacket??? Check out thrift stores you might have some fun reconstructing one that's $5/$10. She also has quite a collection of that first cropped sweater.... All thrifted.

    • @MassonLifestyle
      @MassonLifestyle  2 ปีที่แล้ว

She has a ton of thrifted, my sister and her wear a very similar size. So when Aunt Vanessa gets new clothes Luci gets the nice “leftovers” and she loves it, and I mean she loves it!!!!!!!

@@MassonLifestyle hahaha my mother (that saves everything, her attic is epic) saved ALL my clothes and my sister's stuff...( We were both same size in the 70's and same age apart as my daughters). One day when MY daughters were visiting her she suddenly remembered the stash in her attic and they dragged down bags of stuff. Id completely forgotten about the stuff. The 70's stuff was a huge hit in the 90's for them. They've still got some of the stuff waiting for my g'girls to wear someday.

@@upcycledcopycat8389 I had a great aunt that had QUITE the stash of clothing from the 60’s. An entire room!!!!! Costume jewelry, real stuff, you name it. It was all donated. Sadly I was in college by then but I know she had some real gems in there.
