You are a cut above the rest. Just epic. So tired of seeing great starts to shelters, only to bail and put plastic on the roof. Thank you for going the extra mile!
I like the technique you used to strip the planks from a log for the roof tiles, that was nice. That tool must be so sharp. Great shelter build. These are good skills you have.
I both liked the content and was impressed with his brother's appearance and style. Admire these wonderful hands. TH-cam's recommendation feature brought this video to Vietnam. great relaxation
is eine freude dir zum zuschauen. wenn ma selber am land aufgewachsen is, erkennt ma gleich wie selbstverständlich der umgang mit hacke und werkzeug ist. du bist einer der letzten der glaubwürdig rüber kommt!
I did have fun watching your rare combination of skills and vision. Thank you for sharing this. I suppose some people will think your attention to detail and to beauty are excessive, but that seems to me to be the point. The mere existence of this beautiful dwelling place will stay with me when I most need that comfort. Although I am an old woman (in years, anyway), I find myself thinking I should remember the construction details so I can build my own. A good laugh for me.
I’ve built a couple primitive shelters by myself, primarily from pine and took me @ a month on each using the basic saw, axe, shovel and mallet This build is however over the top, definitely not for a beginner. Great job!
So much enjoyment watching the structure come together. I can not imagine how much measuring and cutting was done off the video. The cowhide door at the end was an excellent touch!!
Anyone who has ever hefted granite by hand can apreciate the effort on the base! the rest of your build is fantastic, did you leave space for a fire place?, at my age now i use Z drag, A frame & tripod mechanical assistance along with wagon type transport to build things. Im really happy to see young people developing real skills like this
This hillside retreat should stand the test of time as it is truly a part of the mountain. Would love to see part two the finishing of the walls and relying for use😊
Your strengh and creativity are incredible, but in the old days before power tools and machineries, all builders were too. Excellent and inspiring video ,subscribed and liked.
What??? No dog...or sausage, potatoes, and onions? Just a video of this talented hard working young man building a shelter? How refreshing. Great video.
Nice work on this build. I especially like the all-wood aspect to it: in that there are no metal nails. I know some people put clay in with the dry stacked rocks as a way to seal the wall and keep it warmer in the winter. I am curious about part two. Cheers.
Thanks a lot mate👍 I was looking for clay but its not easy in this area, the gound consists mostly of soil and sand.. after the winter I will look again👍
My Dude, you're a beast. Throwing those big rocks around like that... Your videos are great. The fact that you're Super Pleasant to look at makes your videos even more Incredible... Waiting for the next one...
It was really impressive watching this whole laborious process and the creative techniques employed in creating such a sturdy structure. It did give me pause considering the placement of a shelter on a hillside location where so many large stones and boulders have come to rest.
Thanks a lot. Well that building is just for content, not for long term use. I have to tear it down within a certain period of time. Not my private land...
Very impressed with this solid build. Don't often get to see stone shelters made with thick enough wall bases. Making thick walls looks like it is easier to fill in gaps and will hold warm temps once the stones heat up.
Spectacular work! Thank you for sharing this incredible build with us. Looking forward to seeing the completed cabin. Kind Regards, Randy in Arizona, USA Spektakuläre Arbeit! Vielen Dank, dass Sie diesen unglaublichen Build mit uns teilen. Freue mich auf die fertige Kabine. Mit freundlichen Grüßen, Randy aus Arizona, USA
great video. I respect your use of all natural materials, and sensible techniques. I watch a lot of these videos, and this is truly the best. I get it….I am in the deep forest of Wellington Maine
Great job of dry stacking the stones and making the foundation walls extra thick. Nice to see how you made your own shingles for the roof, and using weight of rocks to keep them from warping. Hope you do a second video of this shelter to show how you make a fireplace and bed platform. Any plans for a permanent door and window?
Your mountain hut is epic bro. From a pile of rocks and trees into that is truly astounding. I am in awe. You have inspired me to do better and be patient. I wish you all the best for your future projects and look forward to seeing more of your content. Stay safe be strong live free.🌎☀️🌒🌧️
How skilled you are! I'm impressed. Insert a firewood in the shelter and make some nice videos during snow! Would be nice to know how freezing is outside and compare with the cozy indoors!
Building on a talus slope certainly has the advantage of availability of rock, but the reason that rock is there is because something unstable is uphill from it. An avalanche or earthquake could bring more down on you. I love the craftsmanship and the froe. My brother made a froe about 50 years ago to replace some of the shakes on the log cabin we spent our summers in as children. I am more partial to a saddle corner where only the bottom sides of logs are notched with a curved notch. Notches on the top surface collect moisture and speed decay.
Hello, on the video recordings it may look like you mean, but in real life its different. On the upper, steep side is just sand and pebbles. The larger stones are all down and this terrain didn't change since I was a child. Unless there are no natural extreme conditions there is no danger
So awesome! I liked that you burned the logs before putting them in the ground to stop decay. I love the wooden peg idea and your roof. It always puzzles me why a person builds a shelter with surrounding natural materials then cover the rest with a man-made plastic sheet. Thank you for not doing that. I enjoyed watching you build. Thank you for sharing this with me and others.
This was a very nice build. I'm grateful you are building in the type of environment that I wish to bushcraft in myself. It offers a good perspective on how to potentially build shelters around the aea(s) I wish to build in. I also am glad that you provided a 'How-To' for the planks you carved out. I'm excited to see how this project proceeds in the future.
As a teenager my friend and I built a very similar stone and log cabin on a local mountain. Twenty years later and my daughter and I will soon be staying there as part of a hunting trip. I really enjoyed your video and the quality of your work was superb. We initially tried to split our own shingles but since the suitable trees were all at the bottom of the mountain we relented and bought some from the hardware store. We chinked the rock with moss, and the logs with lichen.
Hello, well this shelter is not for long term use, I have to throw it down within a coulpe of years. But at least I can reuse the shingles for further projects. I chose this place especially because of the large availability of building material and a certain amount of protection from noises down the valley, which is very important for filming
I will have to remove this shelter within a period of time, its not my private land. I choose the location because of the building material and the good protection from noises down the valley
As a professional dry stone waller and traditional stonemason I would fire you, 🔥 However, your fundamentals of stonework are considered which is far more than any other TH-camr shelter I've seen. So well done!
I have to say I don't really comment on anything that I watch on the internet but I have to on this one. Man you knock this out of the ballpark this is the absolute best build I have ever seen. Everything about it from your location the ideas the usage of the rocks and the roofing material, the wood. Your ideas craftsmanship and artistry is all five star ⭐⭐⭐ ⭐⭐. I like your attitude and patience. I wouldn't mind living in this thing and call it a luxury get away. I really thank you for taking the time to do for us that can appreciate perfection. Take care my friend. ✌️👍🕊️😊

This is wild plagiarism. There is a Russian forest channel, the guys have been building it for a long time, and he made a copy right away.

Wowww very very nice my friend🤝
This guy not only is talented. He is also very strong. Those logs are no joke. Amazing.

That’s the first time I see someone using a froe to make wood shingles. Very unique build. Thank you for sharing!

Viel aus dem Video gelernt. Das ist noch echte Handwerkskunst.
Einfach nur toll !!!

Simple tools, natural materials and your natural talent create a functional and beautiful shelter. Bravo! 👏

Wow very nice camping shelter , that’s a lot of job ❤
So glad to see "natural builders," work... lovely.

Great job!
Thank you very much!!
He seems to be a "woods" man maybe a carpenter.
Truly incredible to watch you build a structure from the ground up. And all without wearing gloves. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for watching😊👍
Man I love the sound of boulders moving lol. Some funky ASMR
I am sure it will not leave any damage😅

VERY impressive!!! Can't wait to see the finished cabin.
You are a true viking, really enjoy your work

I'm working with granite atm. It certainly ain't lightweight stone.

You are the mountain man of 2022 Congratulations....
This kind of work ethic needs likes and subscription too.. really appreciate the hard work and effort
Really nice project. My only concern are the rocks above the cabin. Maybe build some sort of deflector above the cabin?
Your strengh and creativity are incredible, but in the old days before power tools and machineries, all builders were too. Excellent and inspiring video ,subscribed and liked.

I absolutely love your cabin. I can't wait to see it when you're done building it.

mud poop straw would also nicely fill gaps in stones...i mean poop is optional and possibly hard to get in big quantities there

Is it weird that I wonder how all those rocks got there? I would always worry that more might arrive unexpectedly.
my thoughts exactly, it's just for content, otherwise no sane person would build house in the middle of a recent rockfall
Hello, well this shelter is not for long term use, I have to throw it down within a coulpe of years. But at least I can reuse the shingles for further projects. I chose this place especially because of the large availability of building material and a certain amount of protection from noises down the valley, which is very important for filming
It looks like it's the place where a stream of meltwater would be coming down the mountain springtime.
I'm so happy to see these comments...never build on a rock slide.. Im willing to bet its gone already
the rockfall is some 1000 years old so no worries 😊
Just interacting with the video it's cool you pick a spot where heavy equipment can't go no smoking mirrors here
Great job, excellent quality and detail.

I admire the vision of someone who can look at a big pile of rocks and say "This looks like a good spot for a house."
