I recommend turning your starting map to show all locations, you can rp it out like you lived in KY all your life and just remember street routes really good lol
Want to turn a house alarm into a good thing? If you can run over to the oven turn it on before booking it. Zombies will go into house, and get burned up. Helps clearing up some areas.
My biggest common mistake is getting overconfident, once i get to the point where i can kill zombies reliably and can clean out some areas one single zombie doesn't seem like a threat anymore and i have places to go and want to clean the area fast so i will engage that zombie aggressively instead of waiting for it to come and fight it on my terms. I miss, it bites me and suddenly that one measly zombie killed my character.
That one got me just a few days ago. But, it's okay; I managed to get my next character to the safehouse in one piece. That...doesn't always happen DX.
I actually never burnt my oven... really, never. I treat this game as roleplayroleplay so, then I check every windows, gas "neighbors" or anything that can cause fire before I walk out.
you can actually weaponize a oven. In the one day challange I put a metal sheet on every window. knowing that metal sheets wouldnt be enough i also left the oven with a piece of meat on and barricaded myself upstairs. And it actually worked without me diying Edit: This is not reliable tho
Man, fat-fingering Q is so relatable. Glad I finally rebound the shout button recently. Also, the bathroom zombie party has to be one of the cruelest dev jokes in the game.
@Noah Lucky. We have a server where once every class died once (and a class can't be played twice) we delete the server. 3 died that way. But I do notice it tends to occur after metaevents, like gunshot over yonder.
Remapping the Q key was actually one of the first things I did - before I even played a game. I was checking out the mapped keys for the game to familiarize myself during the tutorial, and noticed 'shout' and where it was in relation to the movement keys and _knew_ that I'd hit it if I didn't move it. I remapped it to T - far enough away that I wouldn't accidentally hit it. lol.
Common mistake for a lot of players is playing the game like they are the main character. Your not immortal. There is no reset option. Death is final for all your stats. Play it like every action could be your last.
What I love so much about this game is the entirely customisable sandbox. Total fucking genius. Want an entirely chilled out start? You got it. Want a crazy start? You got it. Want a chilled out start turning into a crazy game after one night? It's yours. If only all games were like this.
My favorite settings when i want a more relaxed gamestyle is respawn off entirely(like always) multi hit, and no transmission for more relaxed style without chanhing too much
@@TRUSTeTMguest I've been playing with transmission through bite only, Not too big a fan of the fact that RNG can make your character die because of one single small cut, Why even add medical things to the game at that point when it's a dice roll if it'll mean anything?
Recently I realized why they choose Q as the default shout key. When you may turn the corner and get jump-scared by a zomboid and accidentally slam down your keyboard pressing Q, is the real life equivalent to screaming because you got scared.
I didn't think that leaving the oven on would cost so much :'D, I left it on, on purpose, fully confident, telling my friend that it's fine and nothing would go wrong. We lost everything, our items, the house, the neighbourhood and I got so many burns to the point I was limping. My friend always brings up the oven incident 'till this day :'D good times
Walked in on a house warming party in pz 15 zombies after it all I counted I just had a ball pin hammer I got surrounded 4 then 5 I didn't let up kept swinging some were super zombs had them on random I killed them all eventually I swear they looked like roaches coming of a nest thru every window thru the doors. I quite after looting to catch a break.
@@branedo5743 yeah you had a lot of luck, and probably had full stamina because before I got the mod that shows your endurance and fatigue levels I died a lot because I didn't realise how tired my characters were... So even if my combat abilities were good enough, my character literally couldn't swing a weapon to save their life.
@@branedo5743 yeah I meant that I had the problem of not realising my character needs rest before I got minimal display bars, and that you were lucky and your character wasn't fatigued, not that you would have had mods :D sorry I worded it in a weird way
@@ShieniLicksOnLemons ahh your good I understand that I just got extremely lucky I had high strength this allowed me to bounce the zombies back if they got to close good thing they came in pockets/small crowds instead of all at once
Suggestion to make sprinting at a tall fence with bags in hand automatically drop the bags when you jump over it but pressing e will have a slower animation where your character throws the bags over the fence then hops it
yeah maybe to balance it, any item with a condition meter has a chance to lose maybe 1-5% of its durability? It would make sense, chucking a 20 pound bag of random goods over a fence is bound to damage some of the cargo.
I've yet to actually burn a base down, but yeah, many years ago I learned about getting cut on glass the hard way. ...but as most everyone else is saying, the biggest killer is overconfidence. It's especially brutal in this game and Unreal World.
@@Pr1vateLime I knew you were a man of culture! I've spent hundreds of hours on that game too, though Steam doesn't know it since I played out of the folder for several years because the kids like to play games out of my library.
People got spoiled by real life mind games. "Just fool the people and you fool reality." Yeeeeea, that's not how this works. So they try their cocky mind games with a video game, and hit a wall face first. I like to say, nothing matters, before the Moment of Truth. Only then, will you know. Never sooner. You can say you got this, as you're about to face the moment of truth - but saying doesn't affect reality. It's always silly looking at people's stupid faces change from saying "I got this" and watch as they lose it. What did that accomplish?
I didn’t know that generators had a chance to explode once they had a certain level of degradation. So there I was working in my base when I hear an explosion outside and my base go up in flames.
I honestly rebound my Q to avoid that issue. And if I were to add a mistake, I'd add underestimating a hoard/over estimating your ability. That's what kills me alot.
@@Pr1vateLime right? It's always like "Nah I can take this hoard" that quickly turns to "Whelp that character's gone." Zomboid doesn't forgive arrogance.
One mistake I see people do quite often is when running from zombies people go into buildings second floor and find themself stuck. Of course you can do that but only if littterly every entrance is blocked by zombies. Going on the second floor guarantees one of the things: death because you decided to stick to your things and broke your bone or losing a bit of loot you took.
Actually I lucked out a couple days ago when being chased by a dozen or so zombies. Was already bleeding so figured I'd bandage in a room and have a last stand, waited and listened for 5-10 mins... Ran downstairs, door and windows destroyed, four zombies inside with the rest out front, ignore em and out the buildings other exit, to be chased by another group :) Still survived!
It's fine to do it if you are prepared for it, having at least a hammer and nails, you most likely will always find something to make sheet rope out of, time is the only factor here. Or drop everything you have, weight is the main definer of how much damage you will take, more often you will lose almost nothing if you carry nothing.*
@@norXmal I actually had a funny story where I was on a MP server and I was in the Louisville library and I walked in through the back, and when checking a midpoint door in the hallways, like eight zombies jumped out at me and cutoff my exit so the only solution was the front doors. Small issue. Someone blocked the front doors. Answer? I shed away anything unnecessary, put a door between me and the zeds and bandaged the scratch I got. I broke a window and simply loaded all of my clothes and weapons into my military pack (Weight reduction from packs is better than what you get for wearing it) and jumped. If I had 5 more kilos, I'd have snapped a leg. This just goes to show how important it is to make sure every entrance/exit is available and clear.
I'm so afraid of that "ignoring surroundings" one happening, so I always make sure someone comes out to watch my back, i'm paranoid of most of these happening (some of them already have) so it's funny to see others go through the same things
You should choose the keen hearing trait if you want to minimize the chance of that happening ; It increases your perception radius and allows you to see slightly behind yourself so it's much less likely that a zombie manages to sneak up on you
that's a good tactic in multiplayer. but if you're playing solo, you can also pause the game right after you opened the hood of the car to inspect it all in peace
(2:40) Say, it would make sense to be able to throw what you have in your primary and secondary hands. Just throw those bags over the fence before you climb it. I wonder if that can be suggested as a feature in game?
Also considering these backs are stuffed to the brim with canned food and metal pipes? Id like to see someone throw 2 of these over a high fence at once
@@nerfherder4284 The problem with that, Nerf, is that he probably won't mae that climb with the extra weight.. xD You see, the weight modifier you get from a bag, or backpack, only applies if that bag is being worn, or carried. So I do believe throwing them would be a nice addition.. :P
@@midnooid It might be a short distance, but throwing a bag, or letting a bag fall over the fence before you have to climb it, would be an effective strategy. You just spin to get some momentum for your throw and toss. Just like the heavy ball throw in the Olympics.. :P I'd say doing so might potentially damage what you have in the bags, but I'd rather get my junk over the fence slightly damaged then letting that well-earned loot drop..
The biggest thing Lime has taught me is door flash. I don't remember the first time you used it in a video, but I started doing door flashes after watching it long ago. I remap Shout and Horn to `~ so pressing Q doesn't get me killed. So many other games use Q as an ability, strafe, or turn that my muscle memory has me pressing it without thinking.
Every mistake you listed I did on my first few runs... What made me survive from only 24 hours or less to up to 13 days or more was I gave myself the midset that "Treat this like Real Life." or "Will you do that if this was Real Life?", treating the game & doing things that I would if this happened irl really helped bring up my survival rate.
I know you do the doorflash technique to check first, but I really wish it were possible to knock on doors and windows to check for neighbors before entering a room.
This game is basically Murphy's Law if it was a video game. (For anyone that doesn't know what Murphy's Law is, it says "Anything that can go wrong, Will go wrong")
Another good one for noobs. I've done pretty much all of these at some point. The only one I still have an issue with is looting EVERYthing. Got to get all the loot. I do that in pretty much every game. Never know when you might need something... Edit: Only one I've never done is eating burnt food. To this day I never knew you could die from eating burnt food.
Do not follow the forest roads in the hope that they will connect to a main road, they take you far away without connecting to anywhere and in the end they lead to nowhere. My car broke down at the end of the road, I had to walk for 30 minutes
Is there usually any signs that you’re on a main or connecting road? Anytime I get in a car I just end up driving to a dead end or being stuck in a town cuz I can’t find the exit onto the highway
I had no clue that eating burnt food could kill you, I only figured this out when my 1.5k kill character who cleared out Rosewood and most of the prison got bested by a burnt Taco.
Oh I have the worst story about broken glass- I was driving through the middle of nowhere south east of riverside when I hit a sign and my car broke down. I had no boots on and I decided to walk until I found another car or town. I found another car wreck, broke open the window, and climbed through looking for a key. Both feet got deep wounds. I had no bandages so I used ripped cloth which kept on falling off my feet, so I had to rip up all of my clothing. I walked for a long while almost dying until I finally made it to two trailers and washed up, I had no needle or thread to sew up the wound and because I was tweezer-less I had a infection from pulling out the glass by hand. Each step lowered my health. I rested for 3 days in the trailer until I had enough health to risk walking somewhere else to find a needle. I found a few houses to loot and got some boots to finally protect my feet. I then found another car, I broke the glass again thinking I was safe with the boots, but I forgot to equip a weapon when breaking the glass and I scratched my hand, I then somehow repeated my mistake and had two scratched hands and two deep wounded, infected, and limping feet. I finally found a needle and sewed up my feet, then I decided to continue on to find a town, it took 3 more days of walking and sleeping on the road untill I finally reached town. Lesson is, glass doesn't mess around.
My best mistake yet was when i wanted to start wiping rosewood i shot a few shots and made a campfire and ran into a car locking myself in, the only problem is,it was too late and i forgot to lit the camp fire so i stayed locked in the car for days till i died from starvation
Fun Fact: I've done only three of these mistakes in the video; Hitting Q by accident, Hoarding and leaving the car on by accident, in my +2,000 hours of playtime in PZ. Oh another two sneaky, subtle mistakes/accidents done is: using a drinking fountain once then coming back to said fountain to only discover that It now produces tainted water which has ruined either a quarter to half of your water bottles or you miss-click on the journal, that was currently in your inventory that you have also just wrote in previously and by doing so "equipped" it (or deconstructed it), only for you to just discover when you wish to continue it, that it is now missing and that it is gone permenantly, nowhere to be found.
It’s fun to watch these as someone who uhh never played project zomboid lol. I love your energy! Just an editing suggestion, it’s hard to read the cards you have introducing a new section - they go too fast 🥺 might I suggest at least 4-5 seconds? @@ArtsyHumanbean You were also very polite about it so thanks for that as well! Next time I do one of these ill do 5 or 6 seconds compared to the 3 I did today!
I wil give u sum tips and tricks based of my experience! Tip 1: if u think u can handle 5-8 zombies DONT I alr find it hard to take out 3 zombies with a melee weapon Only if u have a shotgun or other gun than u can take out the zombies (only if needed since u havelimted ammo) Tip 2 Get as many things of ur start place since later u can maybe get no food! Tip 3 pick sandbox so u can make ur own game good i recomend for begginers the intitial infection since ( i think) is when the zombies begin to rise so u Have enough time to pack ur things ( survival mode usally have 2 zombies banging on ur door at start point) Tip 4 pick the burgaler job since u can hotwire cars since not all cars have keys in them! Tip 5 if u hotwire a car make sure there are no zombies in the area around u ofc u can lock doors but they could smash the windows and bite u (happend to me) Tip 6 its importent to carry weapons all times there could be zombies everywhere even in buildings Tip 7 (this is purely what i think) Dont make a base if u dont wanna make it secure ofc u can lay down in a random house for abt 2 days but the house is usally not so secure! Tip 8 always close the Windows off and the lights out where doors are they could peek in door windows and see u Tip 8 carry as much gas as u need Since after maybe a couple of days all the things go out And u dont instantly have a generator Tip 9 keep the car running when looting when there is a hord coming u cant always get the engine on first try and maybe if there close they will catch u! Tip 10 if u want to survive the longest loot canned food and dont forget the can opener super importent Tip 11 barecaded houses are Usally very good places to loot since survivers who later on died have gatherd very much food and weapons Tip 12 make sure to play the tutorial since the game is pretty hard itself (little suprise at the end) ---------‐--------------------------------- these where my tips hope u enjoyed them ( These are tips based of my gameplay❤) if i made spelling mistakes im dutch🇳🇱 and i am a little bit bad in spelling english!😂
I just spawned at a police station, geard up, moved in a random direction, landed at a fire station, geard more up, sleeped for a while, was nearly at my destination after loosing all zombies that followed me trough the town, found some new zombies in the forest and rememberd a tip that it's easyer to right click and move trough forests, misclicked and instead sit down on the floor, got eaten by zombies. New player life realy isn't easy... xD
I mean... I never made any of these mistakes except crushing my car, but it is more not being able to avoid obstacle while driving fast, mostly because bad car shape (Just yesterday i crashed car because it almost didn't slow down). The things that are like wierdest are forgetting about something, like not putting rope, burning house or even just food, and ofc leaving lights on. Even as a begginer i made none of this mistakes, and it's not like i'm trying to act like i am some kind of super pro player, it's just kinda weird that people actually make this mistakes because they can't remember something so simple that you also remember in your everyday life. But i'll be honest, once i forgot to turn on generator after refueling it, but i was in a hurry because it was late hour and i was supposed to sleep like 30 minutes ago, so i don't really count it, also nothing spoiled or anything so not that bad. The mistakes I would add are using any gun to early because you think 50 shotgun ammo and 100 of 9mm ammo is enough, or because you decide in panic that you have higher chance of survival while using gun than grinding every zombie with like 10 hits each (spoiler - you'll miss like 60% of your shots and only like every 3rd accurate shot will kill zombie), it is common mistake that sometimes even I forget when it's dangerous. Next one is using cars without being good at combat, I know it sounds stupid, but once you'll drive trough a city, next time you'll go this road there will be hundreds of them, and not always you'll be able to avoid them, and with bad combat skills you'll either need to abandon your care or die protecting it. And worst mistake - Taking wrong traits. Like spending points on +2 to blunt weapons, that you'll get in one day, and it will not really change anything, or taking bad traits that you'll feel for a whole save, that's the mistake i made. All of us did.
Yep, I've had almost all of these happen. I feel called out. The only exceptions are starting a fire because of leaving food in the oven and running a generator indoors.
@@Kirtrickify supposedly monoxide which will cause tiredness that you won't wake up from (assuming you inhale too much). Monoxide isn't a joke considering it has no scent and is colorless. It binds to blood vessels impairing their ability to deliver oxygen. It takes a while to work itself out of your system. Monoxide can also slip through gas mask filters.
What happened to me once is I left the car running, which brought about 8 zombies to my garage, somehow they tore through the walls and all the doors and not only did my base end up covered in blood and holes, but I was also left traumatised
I've saved my base from burning down SEVERAL times, my friend who I really enjoy playing with absolutely loves to cook but she has an awful habit of leaving the stove on, thank god theres a noticable tone you can hear if you're paying attention that the stove gives off when it's on.
The "ignoring surroundings" tip seems obvious but with all the tabs blocking your screen it can be hard to see around you. I died by not noticing I was standing on top of a burning campfire once.
I've actually never left the oven on. I have made some of these mistakes but leaving the oven on is not one of them. When I was new to the game I heard way too many bad stories and I watch ovens like a hawk.
1:25 there is a very easy solution to this. Disable shout in the controls, so that pressing Q does nothing. You can still shout by holding Q and selecting shout. It makes it so you have a bit more of a barrier from imminent death.
The Q button is fun. Especially when a zombie shows up out of nowhere and the jump-scare music jumped me - 9 out of 10 always accidentally pressed the Q. Safe to say me and my character were screaming like a bitch when caught by the jump-scare XD
I think more common than your finger slipping and hitting Q is when you sneak into a building, hit Q to check if there’s any zombies close by on that floor, the realize you weren’t in sneak anymore and actually just screamed at the top of your lungs and start coming from everywhere
Common mistake for a new player is after finding a gun, thinking that you have enough ammo. YOU dont have enough ammo. The most common cause of my death was fighting the zombies in cramped spaces like kitchen of the house and getting flanked so it is better to avoid fightning with low visibility. My unique mistake was missclicking "remove broken glass" because i wanted to do it fast and clicked to jump through the window. It is a pain, literally for character. Eating burnt food is lethal? It depends on the dish or the amount or this is a chance? i guess i was lucky... the only time i ate burnt food was out of frustration that i burnt the food, haha.
Here's some things I recently learned the hard way while playing with some friends. We had just started a new server to test out the addition of mods (mostly adding in more guns), and none of us had been to Louisville yet. So we figured, this is a great time to make a mad dash attempt to at least get some sight seeing in and try out the new weapons. You'd think going to Louisville as a bunch of mostly noobs who did zero preparation was the mistake, but no (well, yes, but no). We had picked up a few books to read on the drive there. So the three of us not driving decided to read. As we were driving, we happened to spot a zombie with a large backpack and not TOO many zombies around, so we stopped and I tried to get out to nab the bag... But I was locked in reading animation. I spammed E to get out, but my character just. Kept. Reading. Couldn't get out of the car. Turns out reading while in a car locks you into the action, because you can't move to cancel (Although we did later learn by accident that you can stop someone else's reading animation by starting a trade. By the way, if anyone knows of a better way to stop reading without moving, I would love to know). So we sadly moved on. My book eventually finished. At one point while traversing a horde, the car slowed down enough to count as a stop... And I got dumped out of the car, right into the horde. It also turns out that the E input from earlier carried over until it was actually possible to do the action. Anyway, I was fine. But we never made it to Louisville because the driver was a speed demon and plowed into a tree while going 90. Moral of the story? Don't have everyone in the car except the driver read while on a trip if you want to make any quick stops. Also, don't let the guy who refuses to not take speed demon and has also gotten you killed in a car crash before be the driver, no matter how much he begs to drive. Mostly the latter, though.
My friend and I was going to loot a prison, there were a few zombies and we were cornered and we had to use a gun. We were on the way out and there's like 200 zombies and I killed most of them because there was a lot of ammo in the prison and a police station we passed earlier. So intense, I faced a lot of near-death moments. We had to kill them so we could loot all of the prison and so that the area would be safer.
0:04 Me and my buddy spent 2 hours gather fresh food for the start of our new server. I got excited and made a huge stir-fry. Forgot the stove and went to sleep, killed my buddy and lost all our food. 10/10. Edit: As I was typing that you mentioned it hahaha
I did almost everything you mentioned in the video... Multiple times... In every run I do... It's a very punishing game and doesn't allow the slightest mistake.
'I'll just go looting in this horrible thunderstorm, I have outdoorsman so It'll be fine' *Can't hear the zombie sneaking up on me and gets a sneaky nibble to the neck while picking up another set of comic books*
Don't take off a dirty bandage on your neck if you got a pixel of health left thinking "I'll just quickly swap to a fresh one"... The moment I did that, my character that survived a month (one of my 1st playthroughs on apocalypse) died in a bathroom
Aside from gaming one of my hobbies is cooking so I have never left the oven on. However, I have to admit that when I started I left the stove on irl burning a lot of foods.
My biggest, and most annoying cause of death is entering a door or rounding a corner with a zombie close to the corner point, I usually miss a swing and get bit in the left part of my neck. Always loud out zombies from tough spots, especially if it’s just one.
Not casing a place before going in and looting it. I.e. forgetting to walk around the building, only to find some good stuff. And then continue out the back to a horde you missed. Thanks for your content!
Great video. I'm relatively new to Project Zomboid, but I've avoided most of these mistakes due to certain precautions. The best advice I can give is to one which caught me once and I swore never to let it catch me again: Rebind the "Shout" button to almost any other button on your keyboard, preferably far away from your primary hand placement. Mine is "L" - I'm not going to accidentally hit "L." Also, this frees up the "Q" keybind for something more useful. Cheers.
My first big mistake was not realizing clothing broke. I knew zombies could make holes and you could patch them, but I didn't realize shoes could break from combat/use so quickly. I jumped through a window (that I cleared of glass) right onto the shards below and almost died from the deep wounds. I now check the status of my kicks before hopping through a window.
The worst thing is underestimate the power of zombies. I died many times while trying to do 5 or 6 zombies. Thinking I can kill all of them. If they come in waves it is menagable but if they come as blob and there is no fence... It is dead wish.
I literally started project zombied yesterday and I've been watching so many guides and tips, so far you have the most attractive and expressive voice. Thanks for the tips!
My fatal mistake and how i always end up dead is getting surrounded by zombies in a house :( either by not closing the window(thinking itll be good to have a second exit) or closing the window(because i dont want to get ambushed, but then i end up getting ambushed with no quick exit), still trying to learn the ropes lmao
The only mistake I haven’t made that I would’ve made would be putting the generator in the garage with the garage door open. I would’ve thought it would circulate out for sure
Let me fix your title: "16 extremely stupid things that even new players don't do, #12 will make you realize how desperately the bottom of the barrel is being scraped"
If you want a decent way to keep track of items you think may be useful but don't have room for, I recommend marking them on your map. I always mark generators, weapons and ammo, and important tools like sledgehammers or crowbars on my map.
Where's that one mistake that you fail your swing and you do a 180º because of that failure and your character get bitten in the back by that one zombie and you restart to point zero. Good vid, made me laugh a lot
My biggest mistake is not realizing I’m tired. Almost any situation is survivable if you have energy to run. But if you can’t move quick you’re done every single time
I've done all of these except the stairs. In addition, I've not bandaged wounds right away because I thought they weren't that bad or didn't carry ripped sheets with me. Also, I ran everywhere not managing my exhaustion. It attracted zombies behind me, and I rounded a corner into a horde. Congrats on 100k!
My last character was literally killed from a broken window. I had a temporary base going on while i looted everything around me. Once, a zombie broke my window but i was like: Feck it. I'll just put a sheet over it so they don't see in and that's it. I did just that. But i forgot the god damn glass pieces on the floor. I found a working car and i was transporting everything from the house to the car. It started to become heavy so i put down my clothes on the floor so i'll be comfortable. WELL GUESS WHO WALKED ON BROKEN GLASS??? Then it got infected and i literally died from blood loss.
I remember creating a new character and running from zombies with a suitcase full of essential supplies, and only realized 40 seconds later that my suitcase got lost because I vaulted the fence in panic.
seeing you trip with a katana in the intro made me think, imagine if tripping with a blade runs the risk of impaling yourself. How crappy would it be to die that way with someone who's survived the impossible.
Ah yes, Another mistake is about corpses. I mean its an achievement killing a whole horde in your town but ur lazy to burn all this corpses and end up so badly.
One thing that always gets me is taking my time looting and by the time I am done I forget how I got there. Getting lost is a high on my cause of death list.
i remember this one time not too long ago when i was searching mccoy's lumber for generators when i opened a bathroom door knowing full well there would be a horde in there, and instead of immediately booking it in the opposite direction as i opened the door, my character instead decided he'd had enough and instead lunged into the horde to escape my control.
My most recent, and possibly most infuriating death, was accidentally falling off the catwalk I was on trying to build a 2nd floor to my base and dying as soon as I hit the ground. I don't know if it was from the weight of the planks/sledge or what, but I feel really cheated out of that particular character, and it really took the wind out of my sails.
To be honest, the few times I leave a oven on in game is when a alarm goes off All zombies come in And what do they find?, flames and fire ready to kill them That and I enjoy burning stuff
Don’t run through the forest hoping to just run into a place you can loot. I spent 2 hours walking through nothing but trees.
I don’t think anyone with a mind would think that walking through forests to find houses is a good idea

Man, fat-fingering Q is so relatable. Glad I finally rebound the shout button recently. Also, the bathroom zombie party has to be one of the cruelest dev jokes in the game.
my Q is on P
@Noah Lucky. We have a server where once every class died once (and a class can't be played twice) we delete the server. 3 died that way. But I do notice it tends to occur after metaevents, like gunshot over yonder.
Remapping the Q key was actually one of the first things I did - before I even played a game. I was checking out the mapped keys for the game to familiarize myself during the tutorial, and noticed 'shout' and where it was in relation to the movement keys and _knew_ that I'd hit it if I didn't move it. I remapped it to T - far enough away that I wouldn't accidentally hit it. lol.

So they try their cocky mind games with a video game, and hit a wall face first. I like to say, nothing matters, before the Moment of Truth. Only then, will you know. Never sooner.
The ol horror movie trope of going upstairs
Imagine not always having sheet ropes, nails and a hammer with you at all times
PATHETIC.
Actually I lucked out a couple days ago when being chased by a dozen or so zombies. Was already bleeding so figured I'd bandage in a room and have a last stand, waited and listened for 5-10 mins...
Ran downstairs, door and windows destroyed, four zombies inside with the rest out front, ignore em and out the buildings other exit, to be chased by another group :)
Still survived!
You should choose the keen hearing trait if you want to minimize the chance of that happening ; It increases your perception radius and allows you to see slightly behind yourself so it's much less likely that a zombie manages to sneak up on you
must be easy playing in multiplayer lol
that's a good tactic in multiplayer. but if you're playing solo, you can also pause the game right after you opened the hood of the car to inspect it all in peace
(2:40) Say, it would make sense to be able to throw what you have in your primary and secondary hands. Just throw those bags over the fence before you climb it. I wonder if that can be suggested as a feature in game?
Would make the game more realistic.
Also considering these backs are stuffed to the brim with canned food and metal pipes? Id like to see someone throw 2 of these over a high fence at once
If you unequip them they won't be dropped. Only when equipped, although the upshot is you might fail to make it over the fence at all.
@@nerfherder4284 The problem with that, Nerf, is that he probably won't mae that climb with the extra weight.. xD
You see, the weight modifier you get from a bag, or backpack, only applies if that bag is being worn, or carried.
I'd say doing so might potentially damage what you have in the bags, but I'd rather get my junk over the fence slightly damaged then letting that well-earned loot drop..
Staying still during multiple zombie combat is a killer
Always gotta be on the move!
I thought that was common sense, I always move when I'm fighting, I mostly back up and then hit the zombies
Unless you have melee weapon multi-hit enabled, or a shotgun. But only when one of those things happen
Staying still during SINGLE combat is a killer.
You can shove the door with space which acts like knocking!
psst!
you can crouch and hit q to whisper which pretty much does the same thing
You can hit the door with your melee weapon or with your hands, that will make noise

Oh I have the worst story about broken glass-
I was driving through the middle of nowhere south east of riverside when I hit a sign and my car broke down.
Getting attacked by a horde of zombies: "'tis but a scratch"

I wil give u sum tips and tricks based of my experience!
Tip 1: if u think u can handle 5-8 zombies DONT
I alr find it hard to take out 3 zombies with a melee weapon
Only if u have a shotgun or other gun than u can take out the zombies (only if needed since u havelimted ammo)
Tip 2
Get as many things of ur start place since later u can maybe get no food!
Tip 3 pick sandbox so u can make ur own game good i recomend for begginers the intitial infection since ( i think) is when the zombies begin to rise so u
Have enough time to pack ur things ( survival mode usally have 2 zombies banging on ur door at start point)
Tip 4 pick the burgaler job since u can hotwire cars since not all cars have keys in them!
Tip 5 if u hotwire a car make sure there are no zombies in the area around u ofc u can lock doors but they could smash the windows and bite u (happend to me)
Tip 6 its importent to carry weapons all times there could be zombies everywhere even in buildings
Tip 7 (this is purely what i think)
Dont make a base if u dont wanna make it secure ofc u can lay down in a random house for abt 2 days but the house is usally not so secure!
Tip 8 always close the
Windows off and the lights out where doors are they could peek in door windows and see u
Tip 8 carry as much gas as u need
Since after maybe a couple of days all the things go out
And u dont instantly have a generator
Tip 9 keep the car running when looting when there is a hord coming u cant always get the engine on first try and maybe if there close they will catch u!
Tip 10 if u want to survive the longest loot canned food and dont forget the can opener super importent
Tip 11 barecaded houses are
Usally very good places to loot since survivers who later on died have gatherd very much food and weapons
Tip 12 make sure to play the tutorial since the game is pretty hard itself (little suprise at the end)
---------‐---------------------------------
these where my tips hope u enjoyed them (
These are tips based of my gameplay❤) if i made spelling mistakes im dutch🇳🇱 and i am a little bit bad in spelling english!😂
The last mistake gives me anxiety, with me making sure my truck in game is always at peak condition and always making sure I have spare parts on hand.
New player life realy isn't easy... xD
When you're towing a heavy vehicle and you try driving over grass. You literally get stuck!
One of the only uses for speed demon lol
Wait why do u run the generator outdoors?
@@Kirtrickify supposedly monoxide which will cause tiredness that you won't wake up from (assuming you inhale too much).

The only time my oven has ever caught fire was when Kate called me upstairs
DO NOT RUN zombies are naturally slower than your walking speed, so just walk right past them. It saves you so much time and pain.
The jumpscare gets everyone lmao
if you gona smash window in locked car and go ride in it dont forget to replace this window or zombies gona have free meal when you gona stop
I dont know how anyone can avoid moodles. Everytime something pops up, it instantly makes me want to fix it
and when i cant (i have no cigs/food/waterbottle) i get legit anxiety. lol

Great video.
I'm relatively new to Project Zomboid, but I've avoided most of these mistakes due to certain precautions. The best advice I can give is to one which caught me once and I swore never to let it catch me again:
Rebind the "Shout" button to almost any other button on your keyboard, preferably far away from your primary hand placement. Mine is "L" - I'm not going to accidentally hit "L." Also, this frees up the "Q" keybind for something more useful.
Cheers.
And another cool video :D
Thanks for the tips!

either by not closing the window(thinking itll be good to have a second exit) or closing the window(because i dont want to get ambushed, but then i end up getting ambushed with no quick exit), still trying to learn the ropes lmao
The only mistake I haven’t made that I would’ve made would be putting the generator in the garage with the garage door open. I would’ve thought it would circulate out for sure
I like how these "common" mistakes all lead to death. Really shows what type of game this is.
Let me fix your title: "16 extremely stupid things that even new players don't do, #12 will make you realize how desperately the bottom of the barrel is being scraped"
If you want a decent way to keep track of items you think may be useful but don't have room for, I recommend marking them on your map. I always mark generators, weapons and ammo, and important tools like sledgehammers or crowbars on my map.
i love this game because basically commiting ANY of there common mistakes practically (if not literally) kills you in unspeakably horrifying ways
17. Forgetting to check digital watches for alarm.
18. Staying in the house after triggering alarm.
How crappy would it be to die that way with someone who's survived the impossible.
>hmm today i will loot this very safe and quiet looking house in the middle of nowhere
>cue to 30 zombies exploding out of the bathroom
love to see your channel growing so fast! ;)
Honestly overestimating yourself is a big mistake I do. "I can take two zombies."
I can not, in fact, take two zombies.
YEP, its always that excessive hubris
Ah yes, Another mistake is about corpses. I mean its an achievement killing a whole horde in your town but ur lazy to burn all this corpses and end up so badly.
One thing that always gets me is taking my time looting and by the time I am done I forget how I got there. Getting lost is a high on my cause of death list.
It's good to remember to mark everything important on your map including your base.
i remember this one time not too long ago when i was searching mccoy's lumber for generators when i opened a bathroom door knowing full well there would be a horde in there, and instead of immediately booking it in the opposite direction as i opened the door, my character instead decided he'd had enough and instead lunged into the horde to escape my control.
God damn stealth bathroom party, gets me every time. Nowadays I just set the house on fire if the room sounds “occupied”
Not only a true video, but extremely well presented. Great work!
Don't walk along the train track just to enter the completely emptiness of everything except tree like me. Even the train track is covered by trees
To be honest, the few times I leave a oven on in game is when a alarm goes off
All zombies come in
And what do they find?, flames and fire ready to kill them
That and I enjoy burning stuff
3:08 this is how I died, never played before. Then I realized that attacking when over weight makes you tired, then I couldnt escape... oh god
It’s a terrible way to go out
