Holy crap, thats a lot of work! Cool idea, Pete. You always suprise me. You truly are the king of GB ios. I remember years ago looking for a channel like this and only you and Patrick came up. Now look at you! Way to go, Pete.
This is a very handy feature! A few additional tips from my side: - By splitting the midi track into individual tracks for each part of the drumkit you can EQ the hi hats, snare and kick drums separately. A high pass filter on the kick drum can really improve Anders’ sound - Sometimes the auto drummer grids make patterns that are too complex and changing the sliders doesn’t give the result you’re after. In that case you can remove that part of the midi track and create your own kick or snare pattern using the beat sequencer - it may be good to convert to midi when you’re happy with the auto drummer track for the whole project.
As a software engineer of 20+ years, I learned that end users found the most innovative ways that we’d never dreamed of for finding new ways to use and abuse the apps we created for them. Especially in business apps, and those which are used ALL the time, the law of unintended consequences, probabilities, and natural selection causes the inevitable laws of Evolution to eventually surface new and unplanned “features”!
1:30: Q: Can we duplicate the project that we're working on (rather than creating a new project and creating similar tracks and pasting the drummer track to a drum track) ?
Hello, I created a live drummer track in GarageBand on my iPad on a project and I AirDroped it to logic pro on my iMac. What I’d like to do, is to separate the drum track for instance, have the symbols on a separate track to the base and drum et cetera, so I can get more of a stereo effect as at the moment, it sounds a bit muddy the whole live drummer track on one where again, I’d like to divide the track into two or three. Is there a quick and easy solution? Thanks in advance.
Hey, first of all: Big thank you for your videos! They help a lot! I hope you´ll answer my question: I record drums via smart drums or acoustic drummer. I turne the "hitting sensitivity" off but whenever I loop the track the drumbeats still sounds slightly different sometimes even though I only hit the base drums. Do you know why that is the case? Thanks!!
I have tried this over and over again with no luck. I have followed each step. Paste option comes up but nothing happens. Edit: tried with a new song, added a drummer track and audio as explained and it works. Not sure why i cant do this in the only song i habe created in GB.
@PeteJohnsMusic Moving drummer to new song seemed to have worked for my current song. I have tried to now move the current midi track from garageband drum track to a plugin track (splat to clat) however it will not allow me to move the drum midi parts.
Same with me. I did have good success in the past when you had your first Drummer to midi video. I don’t know what’s happening this time around. I have faith that if I do it again it will work because I’ve done it in the past with the other video. Pete John does the other routine video still work for you, I noticed it’s a little different compared to this new one.
There are lists around the place. I really need to find an updated one. Maybe ask over at the Create Record Release Facebook group at createrecordreleaae.com, or the Discord group here - studiolivetoday.com/discord.
This is driving me crazy! I have followed your instructions 6 times, and when I try to paste the copy of the two drum tracks from the original project into the acoustic drum track on the second project, it ends up in the "audio recording" track and is NOT MIDI. What am I possible doing wrong? I really want to be able to do this, so I can "fine tune" the drum patterns and sounds.
Hey there Randy. Interesting one! I’ll re-explore this one in GarageBand Weekly this week and make sure the same process still works. It did about a month ago when I last tried, but haven’t checked since the 2,3.17 update.
This is like, “ with a couple “simple” tweaks to this hack, you can get infinite hearts in a Zelda game “ 😂 But I’d do this much work if there was a hack to turn audio recordings into MIDI. That would be wild!
Yeah. I hear ya. There are audio to MIDI plugins and apps but I’ve never found one that works exactly the way I want it to. Hope you’re well my friend.
Thank you for this video! I share a free bite by bite “learn to read music” program on my TH-cam channel in the hopes of making music literacy accessible to all!

Haha! I wanted to fill that iOS gap !!
It seems like a "Create MIDI track from drummer track" option in GarageBand would be useful. Thanks for the workaround!
Yup! We have this in pretty much every other app and platform. Hopefully they as this one day?

Awesome additional tips my friend! Hope you’re well.
Have a great new year, Pete!
And to you my friend.
I had this saved from before. Works like a charm. Even Jade was impressed❤️
👍😎

Very clever. Love it ❤😊

Incredible! I'm still learning from you, Pete. Great job!
Nice one.
How in the hell did you figure that out, Pete?
… I am stunned.
So useful to know.
Saving this video.
Nice! A fellow GarageBand nerd shared it with me years ago. Cool isn’t it?
1:30: Q: Can we duplicate the project that we're working on (rather than creating a new project and creating similar tracks and pasting the drummer track to a drum track) ?
I haven’t had luck doing it this way. It’s probably possible but not sure how.

You're a genius, Pete.
Thanks! 🙏
But I can’t take the credit. Another user showed me this way back when.

Haven’t come across this sorry, but you can always go back and edit the velocity of the drums? studiolivetoday.com/GarageBand
@ thanks! I appreciate you replying! All the best!

Sorry to hear! Try moving the drummer track itself to a new project. studiolivetoday.com/garageband

Is there a way to know which drummer uses what kit? After doing these steps I can't find the kit that was the original drummer used.

I just attempted this and it does not work anymore on the newer version.
i actually figured it out the same reason another comment did. I had to put the drummer track in a new song first
Really? Worked for me recently in the latest version. Make sure you follow the instructions closely as it’s very particular.
@@PeteJohnsMusic Yes I got it!! Thank you.
Did you figure it out? I just tried and couldn’t get it towed work
❤❤❤very beautiful interpretation and video happy new year 2024 leking m

Can you export midi from GarageBand?
You can’t I’m afraid. Not without additional apps or effort. studiolivetoday.com/garageband
