Hi, I love your channel. I’m sure you’ll get many comments on sheep herding so here’s my two cents worth. About a month before shearing time feed them in their shed every morning. They’ll have a routine and get used to it…it’s a one person job! I run 97 sheep and 28 cows and only get help with shearing and drenching. You’re lucky the sheep are only small, a strong man would have trouble lifting one of mine, they’re huge! Thanks for sharing your daily life. ❤Zeljka
Ruby is so adorable. She knows she can't come inside(because of allergies) so she's only inside to eat Lancelot's leftover food or hang out with her new friend that's her size♥️😀
Michael Petherick is needed at the Convent to help his Dad and Billy carry heavy objects around instead of being at Lalande helping carrying heavy furniture around from one room to another, at the whim of Stephanie Jarvis orders to suit her preferred ideas of how she wants a room in Lalande to look.

Stephanie that field the sheep are in needs topping. Sheep prefer shorter grass. Or, let in your neighbour's cows for a week. They'll eat off all the long grass.
Chasing the sheep like this is very stressful for them. It also heats them up and their fleece will be very damp, causing it ti stick with the lanolin in the wool. This can cause nicks when shearing and gums up the shears. So take the advice below and get them trained with a bucket of grain and the person who looks after them will be able to lead them into the shed. All those people screaming and running around will just terrify them. Sheep only have one set of teeth so no defenses except flight from trouble. Advice from an old shepherdess!
This is correct. We always bring our sheep inside the shed the night before, so they are calm and quiet the next day. Mainly for the reason that they shear better: ie the wool comes away better with the clippers. If a sheep is hot and sweating, the wool is harder to remove and as Linda says, it makes the skin more prone to being nicked by the clipper blades.
Grant, family emergency always sounds so ominous. I pray that you and your family are all safe and sound tonight. You are such a wonderful addition to Lalande, I always hate to see you leave. I look forward to your return.😢 ❤ from TX!
Someone needs to train the sheep to a shaking feed bucket ….. I trained my sheep that way and there was no chasing of the sheep it’s really hard on them. Please please train them to follow a shaking bucket with either alfalfa pellets or rabbit pellets . It was hard to watch the stress they were under

Although it looks like the sheep is laying there very calm and it is under controlled circumstances with Kirsty there, sheep cannot right themselves if on back, they often die in paddocks within 24 hrs if they find themselves in that situation, if you ever see one on its back and it safe for you to turn it over gently so it can get up then do so otherwise it will die. Obviously Kirsty is in control of the situation but just thought in case anyone didn’t know about sheep on their backs !
Stephanie, your videos have literally been a survival tool for me since the day you left Vietnam at the beginning of the pandemic. This channel has been a balm on my soul. Such good energy.
If you feed the sheep ever day a cup of sheep nuts but shake them in a bucket loudly before you feed them. they will learn to follow the sound of a rattling bucket. Which makes moving sheep so much easier.
They are used to not having human interaction because they are pets not a commercial herd and trying to feed them for a few weeks would make them more reliant on being fed as opposed to feeding themselves
That’s how we moved our sheep too, just get them used to coming into the shed for feed once in a while and they will just follow you. Less stressful for everyone:)
The last two years were much better than this. It seems like chaos for no reason at all. Two years ago, Dan used his drone to herd them, and last year they were guiding them within a much smaller space. Frankly, I don't see why they don't just start bringing temporary fencing around the sheep (effectively herding them by bringing the enclosure around them) instead of run the sheep around like this.

I’m sure there’s somewhere near you where you could even engage a herding dog and its handler to come in once a year and help you with this. It seems a bit needlessly stressful for the sheep!
