    Traditionally, skateboarding how-to videos have always been subjective and the majority of explanations are based on speakers' experiences.
    To avoid relying on my personal experiences, please fully utilize the 3D models.
    All skaters have different questions.
    So that you can analyze skateboarding tricks in detail and solve your "whys," those 3D models are made fully interactive.
    The 3D models feature these functions below:
    - change camera angle
    - adjust play speed
    - change transparency
    - display gridlines, etc.
    Aside from that, I try to explain concepts of skateboarding tricks based on facts, calculations, scientific and physics theories. I may make mistakes so please leave a comment if you find anything.

    I've always liked the feel of a variable flip. It feels more controlled. Like, when both my feet are involved, I feel better about landing a trick. Tre flips always sort of felt like random chance to me.

    I feel like it really doesn't matter in the long run; as far as mechanics go, a varial flip is closer to a kick flip and a tre is basically twins with a 3 shuv as the front foot does nothing, basically... actually, it does more in a shuv than a tre by preventing the flip

      Very true. Imo 3 shuvs are definitely harder than tre-flips for that reason

    Surprising how the tre flip are now legit a pressure movement. (Also sorry I didn’t comment on the previous video, I didn’t see it.)

    im learning skateboarding atm, im almost 1 month in, im using an old board size 7 and i learnt varial kickflip before landing a normal kickflip, feels easier to me idk why, landing either is hard since my board is tiny, but im slowly starting to get consistent with it

    Great video and timing. I recently learned varials and I started tres yesterday with interesting results. Thanks for breaking this down. 🙏

    Between Kickflip, Varial Flip and 360 Kickflip, normal Kickflip is the hardest for me.
    There’s no order in skateboarding. Do what you think is fun!

      straight kickflip imo is the hardest flip to learn outside certain circus tricks. I was six or seven flip tricks in before I ever caught bolts on one.

      I would say perfecting the kick flip to make it suck up to your back foot definitely is harder and I put way more time into kick flips then any other flip tricks I’ve landed

    I spent two years learning tre flips (I don't skate often). With varial flips it is so strange, I've never took time to learn it, but I can land it just by popping the board and spreading my legs apart, as if I was doing a little aplit in the air.

    I learned to varial kickflip by accident while learning to kickflip and for a while I could only do varial kickflip and not actual straight kickflip

    i just got varial flips out of nowhere and it already seems more consistent than my kickflips

    I feel like In a treflip you flick to the side, while a varial flip is more up the nose

    Varial flip actually uses your front foot to flick. A tre flip is all back foot

    Hmmm, enjoy your glorified pressure flips. I'll stick to learning the more fundamental, and difficult varial flip.

  • @PHeMoX
    @PHeMoX 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    @3:12 Except you're completely ignoring the amount of pressure that's put on your front foot and how it does move off the board when still in contact with the board, enough for it to count as a flick. Try doing the same tre flip, but lift your front foot up even earlier. You're never going to flip it. Try to do a 'no comply tre flip' so to speak. You're not going to be able to do so with a regular tre flip foot position. It's just flat out impossible. It's very amusing to keep hearing people say 'there's no flick', when really all they try to do is interpret a visual image / video without actually realising what is truly going on. Heck, we can calculate why you're wrong. There's just not enough force elsewhere to make the rotation work. Contrary to what you think, the scooped pop at 90 degrees is not enough.

  • @PHeMoX
    @PHeMoX 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    0:22 I severely disagree with that image in terms of difficulty haha. Not hating (as always), but I think a more accurate image must include : 'ollie', '180s' , 'pop shove it', 'front shove it', 'varial kickflip', 'heel flip', 'kickflip', 'tre flip'. With enough practice, many people will start to prefer tre flips over kickflips, but I wouldn't say they are easier. A varial kickflip though, _definitely_ is easier, as it is way more of a pop shove it that you allow to flip. It doesn't require as much control over the flick as a kickflip does. Something can be said putting the 'heelflip' before 'varial kickflip', but again, even when it's a more rudimentary trick, but it requires about as much control as a kickflip. I haven't tried enough varial heelflips yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if those feel easier than a regular heel flip too, provided you've got the front side pop shove its down well. And that's kind of the thing in skateboarding. If you have pop shove its down, the varial kickflip is _definitely_ easier. Jumping from 'kickflip' to 'tre flip' is definitely harder than having varial kickflips mastered and giving a scoop that's twice as hard. Oh and you're not being very objective when you think there's no flick in a tre flip, sorry. All tre flips have a flick. It doesn't matter if it's helped by a lot of preloading of the board, it still gets its rotation from the front foot movement. The bounce of the rear truck is not what makes your tre flip rotate _at all_ . You're not doing pressure 360 flips.... not to mention how those literally work differently too. Oh and there _are_ different ways of doing a varial kickflip. You can do them more pop heavy and flick late, meaning it is less like a tre flip. Or you can scoop them more and flick earlier and it'll be more of a tre flip style motion. The fundamental difference there doesn't mean one of them 'isn't flicked to rotate'. Both are flicked to rotate. Just a different timing and as a result the varial kickflip you end up with looks a bit different. Yours looks a bit more like it was a late flip. Needless to say, a kickflip that's done at the peak of 'the jump up', will always look different than a kickflip that was flicked early and done (probably lower to the ground or at least stays more stuck to your feet when going up) fast. At no point could we ever talk about them being two different tricks. And no, a real late flip is not a kickflip. It's often just slapped down with one of the feet, instead of a true flick. If there's a true flick, I'd argue that's just a regular kickflip, but done at peak height.

    Gets pretty confusing when you start talking about the Z-axis and scooping while there is a horizontal rotation arrow on the screen. Just missing a lot of detail and specifics there. Focus on the Z-axis....how? Scoop in what direction(s), with what motion, at what point, for how long, etc etc. These videos are technical but don't really have a whole lot of information, at the same time.
