Kim Petras grew up immersing herself in music videos, so it was fun to have the German native in the Vevo studio. As a child, Petras struggled with gender identity issues, which led to bullying. “Escaping reality through pop videos,” was a self-preservation move that bolstered her love of the form, she told Glamour. So it’s no surprise that her debut record, ‘Clarity,’ is an adoring, almost academic, appreciation of pop. “Icy” is all about having a heart too cold to care. “Reminds Me” is the opposite, a listicle of things that keep an ex forever on your mind. That broad spectrum of subject matters, not to mention KP’s ability to sing both songs armed only with acoustic guitar, reveals the depth of her talent… from pop star lover to pop star herself.

Her vocal technique isn’t amazing but she’s got such a great voice. I hope she develops her vocal technique more though. Shes got such a great voice naturally and could take it to crazy heights!

I think that's the true test of not just a song, but a artist. Can you pull off the song striped down, or unplugged, and it still has merit. Because without all the engineering, and the million dollar synth sounds, or the shearing electric guitars shredding solos or whatnot; what's left that holds your interest. If someone gets up and sings "God Bless the Child", with a guitar or piano, or something like that; it's still a fantastic song. That's makes it a jazz standard imho....You just proved your song is a pop standard imho. That doesn't happen that much anymore. We done. You slayed it girl!

kim has a restraining order against autotune
hate to break it to you but her vocal is post processed and has been added autotune. it's normal for live shows to add autotune but that doesn't mean they can't sing.
@@GABE_is_here That's likely, but there are times where strain,cracking, or certain techniques like side yodeling result in a "natural autotube"; recording engineers have noted younger singers who seem to emulate the sound of autotune unintentionally, from hearing so much music with it. Some of them are amazingly out of key, etc.
