One thing I would like to point out about the theory about the entire phantom troupe dying is that Togashi didn't confirm the troupe will die before the story is over. In the interview he was asked "What will end up happening to Kurapika and the Phantom Troupe?" and his only response was "They will all die." What Togashi says is likely layered as he's not going to casually throw around spoilers and it's possible he meant they will all die because they are human and we all die at some point and whether they die of old age or on the boat its how we interpret what he meant.
It has become a meme because Hisoka explains it, or thinks it to himself - every single time Thus importantly reminding us that Bungee Gum indeed posesses properties of both rubber, and gum.
1999 killua being a perv was not so far off from the manga.. there's a page in Yorknew arc and the word "shibari" (binding) came up and killua was thinking of another "shibari" meaning (bondage) however the 2011 anime excluded that panel for obvious reasons
Regarding the alluka being trans part, the zoldycks could be referring to nanika being the male, and alluka the female counterpart. Out of fear everyone talks about nanika because of "his" powerful abilities, but killua knows alluka more, so he calls alluka by "her".
No, sorry. The butlers refer to Alluka as "Bocchama" in the JP dub when Alluka was young. I can't recall if Tsubone does that, but "Bocchama" is essentially a cute way to say "Young *Master".* Which very much cements 2 things. 1. Alluka was born male 2. Alluka is trans To top it all off, Killua refers to Nanika with female pronouns. He thinks of them both as his little sisters. In fact, the current youngest, Kalluto, dresses in a feminine way because he thought Killua loved Alluka *because* she is his little sister, and not because of how unfairly she has been treated. Though, I see why you would interpret it that way.
I think it is the reverse. Nanika is the female counterpart, while Alluka is the "male" counterpart Nanika could have wanted a female body to possess, and Alluka was the ideal subject for reasons we don't entirely know. Most of the Zoldyck family just sees Alluka's female pronouns as the influence of Nanika. In other words. Even Ai from the Dark Continent says Trans Rights.
i don't even see nanika as male or female , it's a gaseous lifeform i don't think it has a sex at all. As for alluka we already know for a fact that alluka is male biologically , it's just that killua is the only one in the family that cares enough to respect her wishes and treats alluka as a female as she seems more comfortable with that.
Another thing with the Spiders representing evil versions of bible characters, I feel like the same can be said for the Ant arc, where Pituo, Pouf, and the other guy (sorry I forgot his name) are the evil versions of The Three Wisemen, and they view Meruem as their lord and saviour or whatever. I’m Catholic so my brain just immediately thought if The Three Wiseman. I haven’t read the Manga yet but I’m excited to see if I can find more of these.
That's a dope connection, and I definitely see it to a degree. Out of curiosity, is there any group that goes by 14 in Catholicism? You'll see why if you read the manga
@@ThisIsChris-Anime Not sure if this really counts but related to Catholicism there is a group known as the Fourteen Holy Helpers if you wanna read up on that, short version is the Roman Catholic Christians venerated 14 saints together because they believed these saints could help ward off and fight different diseases. *Spoiler ahead* I guess you could see this as the fourteen princes / princesses and their different special powers they got but I really doubt it and it seems far-fetched
@@ThisIsChris-Anime 14, not really. Most groups are numbered 12. (12 disciples, tribes, etc). if you reeeeallly wanna stretch things out you could say that there are 14 judges of Israel. They are traditionally numbered 12 as well, but if you count Eli and Samuel, who arent really judges, but fit in as the same government type, but as I said it, really stretching things here, they could be counted as 14
9:35 Holy crap we just got a connection with Sheila and the phantom troupe in the recent chapter. Maybe we we see that Pariston is also from Meteor City if the theory ends up being true!
The Netero assassination plot is a pretty solid theory, and also links to where the chimera ants came from. The queen ant probably wouldn’t have survived crossing that entire ocean, but Beyond could have taken her with him since he went to the dark continent twice.
This is one of the reasons to love anime. Not just because of the stories themselves, but because of all the theories and subtle easter eggs that people can ponder for years; which bring a whole new level of excitement, immersion, and passion from the author and audience alike.
That Spider tattoo being conditional nen could be interesting though. This is all just thoughts: Chrollo being a specialist, it's possible he could have a second ability to loan some of his overall power into his troupe members to make them stronger as long as they have the tattoo. Would kind of fit with the reverse jesus and his disciples theme too. like a pact with the devil. maybe chrollo's forehead tattoo is another condition of it. But if it was conditional nen, and a troupe member died, I feel like the tattoo would disappear and the power would return to Chrollo.
I'd say its wrong because hisoka was allowed in without them seeing him gettin a tattoo. As in they let him go somewhere to get a spiders tattoo. So yeah.. They didn't even see if he'll actually do it or not
@@pininja4981 yea plus if the tattoo was conditional nen from chrolo wouldn’t it make sense if he knew that hisoka didn’t actually have the tattoo and it was made from hisokas nen
Wait, you're kidding, right? That means the TV show will resume in a few years after the manga is completed. :) HxH 2026 anyone? I watched HxH in late 2021-2022, and am waiting for more episodes.
I also think Killua is gay, but I wouldn't take a voice actress as confirmation personally. Nothing against her, but I don't confirm sexuality without some official source.
The reason the Bungee gum thing became a meme is because every single time Hisoka uses it after the Heavens Arena arc, he says "Bungee gum has the properties of both rubber and gum". He never shuts up about it, and every single time, it catches his opponents off guard. Canonically, Bungee gum is supposedly a really powerful ability because unlike Killua's Nen transmutation, Hisoka's Nen transmutation doesn't take on the property of just one element (lightning), but takes on the property of two elemental concoctions at the same time (rubber and gum), which is not a simple task. For one to transmute their Nen into something, they have to be very exprienced with said something. Hence why every hunter's immediate reaction to Killua's lightning is their heart sinking into their stomach. But Bungee gum isn't JUST gum and rubber. In fact, and this is a spoiler for the manga, so please look away. I will add space just in case. Hisoka's bungee gum restarted his heart after Chrollo killed him, and then allowed him to repair his destroyed body after Machi reattached his hand, alongside his Tokkiri Teksucha, or Texture Surprise. Hisoka's Nen abilities are scarily intricate for being so simple on the surface, which is a testament to his natural talent, and developed skill, within Nen. Also, as for Pitou, Togashi himself said it's completely intentional. Pitou isn't meant to have a gender because they are above that due their nature of creation. So why aren't the rest Royal Guard treated that way? No idea, Togashi is psuedo crazy lets be honest. As for the Feitan thing, Zeno, Silva, and Killua, are all transmuters. The only manipulators that are confirmed in the Zoldyck family are Kikyo, Illumi, Miluki (according to an interview with Togashi when asked if Miluki had the ability to use Nen), and I believe Kalluto. This means majority of the (still living) Zoldyck are manipulators, but the ones with the most potential, are not. To top it off, Maha Zoldyck was an enhancer. Feitan Portor, is a transmuter. That being said, I doubt that the Zoldyck would just ditch a family member in Ryuusei, esp when Feitan now is massively skilled and far beyond even Killua. In fact I'd say the only Zoldycks stronger than him right now are Zeno, Silva and Illumi, but being that Feitan's power seems to be some kind of absorption and redistribution of damage, Illumi might well not be able to take him down. Not to mention, Chrollo's MO is being a blank slate who takes on the properties of others. Meaning there's is little to no chance that Chrollo can't also use the abilities that Feitan can, as long as they aren't Nen specific. As cool as it would be for Feitan to be a Zoldyck, I don't see it either.
there was a "dark continent tier list" in the manga (no i dont know which volume, somewhere around the end of election ark im guessing) which had chimera ants included, so yes, they are from the dark continent. if my memory serves, they were ranked a b+
On the York New 9/11 theory: the events of that arc do occur during September, with it ending on September 10th. Also, the tankoban of the final chapters was released November 2001, however the chapters would have been published earlier in SJ I think? Anyway, my point is the climax of the arc would have occurred on or slightly before the actual 9/11 attacks. All in all a spooky coincidence.
You may not underatand why "Bungee Gum has the properties of both rubber and gum" is a meme, but dont let that distract you from the fact that Bungee Gum has the properties of both rubber AND gum.
Damn, I can't believe I let "Bungee Gum as the properties of both rubber and gum" as a meme distract me from the fact that Bungee gum has the properties of both rubber and gum!
Actually killing both the 9th and 11th spider in September, in an adjacent New York city is pretty insane considering its not the only animated series that predicted the attack on 9/11.
Yeah but people forget that insane coincidences happen in a daily basis in the world because of how much happens. It’s just a matter of chance a “wonder” happens
I think Neferpitous gender boils down to the fact that the whole chimera ant colony probably only has a single true female: The queen. Even Zazan, who tried to split off and deemed herself queen couldn't bear any children and had to corrupt humans to build her hive. The oddity that chimera ants of later generations resemble their original souls body so well means that certain drones have very feminine traits while being technically not female.
It was never stated nor confirmed but it’s a strong theory regardless because of the ancient ruins found in the dark continent. Possibly dating back hundreds if not thousands of years. It's akin to finding the cradle of humanity in the real world. Kurta coming to the known world is also a strong sign. If they can so can others (and why magical beasts exist when there are also normal animals). It could be that humans came there earlier on and the Kurta clan are ancient humans that evolved in the harsh environment while the rest of humanity was safe but never had the urgency to evolve so drastically. Same story for animals too.
I've saw somewhere a theory that says that the Chimera Queen was from the Dark Continent and that she was brought to the Giant Lake Mobius by Beyond and Pariston as part of a plan to kill Netero. Also, in this theory, they would have made a human procreate with her in order to have a giant queen able to "speak" and with tons of needs of a nutritious food in order to have Meruem, ending in her wishing for more until she ends up consuming humans (and nen).
Awesome iceberg video! I can't believe I missed all those Yu Yu Hakusho Easter Eggs, it's my second favorite anime of all time, second to HXH ofc! Also btw, the Chimera Ants are from the Dark Continent. You are onto something by noting how difficult the trip across Lake Mobius would be. Which leads into the theory that Pariston and Beyond worked together to get the Chimera Ants to the V5 in hopes Netero would have to give his life to defeating the ants. With Netero dead, Pariston could become Chairman and Beyond can explore the Dark Continent. Although with each new chapter this theory seems more and more likely. The secret labs might have to do with where the corpses that came back from the Dark Continent are being held, as well as the containment cells holding the first book Don Freecs wrote, and the only survivor of the Dark Continent calamity labeled Zobe Disease
With the Feitan part he could be like a distant cousin or something but not actually part of the main family. Even then there’s no actual proof of that.
There are so many hints to guess that Beyond indeed had a hand in doing this knowing the outcome of the queen being an ant king which might finally satisfy his father’s wish. A twisted form of selfish love. Plus it was hinted that the queen had hints of human dna, by the size of her. Why didn’t she know humans are the best nutrition at at point when she get colt and Reina? Possibly because human were fed to her in a lab? Or she was an offspring? To her being able to actually talk? We have seen small chimera ants before and they didn’t had the ability to talk… plus while she was confused about names that her children (squadrons) wanted ,she still named the royal guards and her son Meruem despite that and pondered if she might have distant human dna too as they do All the way to Beyond’s travel to the dark continent and what he may have found in the uncharted path he wasn’t supposed to take and what calamities he revived in turn. To the ant queen may have drifted from Kakin empire as it was to the east as well. In fact we know of three travels to the new continent out of hundred and all were of Issac family, 2 by Netero and 1 by Beyond - and we know of 3 calamities conveniently. The Ai Nanika, the Zobe immortality decease that dates back at least 50 years and The chimera Ants (keep in mind the 5 calamities are what’s known from the journey to the east book, there are possibly more) and the safe paths traveled there are retracing the steps of the writer’s and the ants could be a possible addition in the future to that list. Plus Netero’s reaction during the ant arc as he knew he would die even before the birth of the king and seemed disappointed? Was it cause they actually might end the mission before the birth of the king like Knov said and not meeting his fateful companion in battle or … was that also a look of sadness? Knowing that this is a plan put to motion by his very own son to end his life…

To clarify the last item, the first shot we see of Yorknew in the 1999 anime was essentially just New York. However for some unknown reason, the city is depicted with just one of the two Twin Towers in the opening that replaces Ohayou. (The first opening of 1999. Yes, 1999 has more than one opening for its entire run. Unlike 2011.) The next point is from the Greed Island Arc. Both manga and the OVA. It is specifically stated when Gon asked an old guy inside Greed Island that it was September 11, 2001. Really it was just two really unfortunate circunstancial mishaps. One by the 1999 anime crew (they're still awesome tho. Still the better anime adaptation) and the other by Togashi himself. This of course leads some people to speculate some sort of conspiracy, even though none of these people could've predicted such a tragedy could occur.
just like to make a small correction to the hisoka hand sign thing. The hand sign is actually typically one finger over and is used primarily targeted at women. And because he did it like that, it could lead to one of two meanings, either he really did mean to kill, and he kinda killing. well yk. or he did mean… grape, and simply moved a finger over as killua’s a boy. Personally i think it’s the second given how hisoka is.
There is a theory that Gyro will be the great enemy of humanity while part of the cast will be on the dark continent. Gyro returned as a chimera ant, more powerful than ever
I think the 17th century theory is that maybe because the Dark Continent arc has parallels to the discovery of the Americas, in the sense that Europeans didn't know it existed and the few people that did go at that time reported all sorts of weird fauna and flora with high levels of threats (eg huge snakes, forest dwelling lions, piranhas, insects etc). So the Dark Continent sounds like how someone from Europe would describe the Americas
Pariston = Sheila is debunked now (after reading the lastest chapter 396), but still pretty interesting. I really want to see when and how she will appear again (I think the whole Phantom Troup will die during this arc, so maybe she will appear soon. But there's a big chance I'm wrong too)
To me the biggest confirmation that Killua is in fact gay is him using the therm “心中” (shinju) while talking to Meleoron abt the plan in chapter 286. The word “心中” is basically a double suicide done between lovers or family members (blood family only). That kind of confirms is for me, with the fact that everyone who worked on the show thinks they are in fact lovers
@@sayu_sama I mean you can look up the definition, this word means double suicide between lovers or blood family. I speak Japanese, people who try to dismiss that fact just don’t want to admit that Killua and gon being in love is heavily implied (tho thanks to this it’s semi canon) 😭

Yeah, I've read the manga, watched BOTH animes, Google, Wikipedia, IMDb, Fanfic, fanwiki, if it's out there, I've seen it. HxH will always be my favorite anime of all time.
The spider tattoo theory is easily debunked when Hisoka just takes his off meaning its probably just a normal tattoo Wouldn't Chrollo know whether or not hisoka's was real if it was his nen?
it makes sense that the chimera ant queen was brought from the dark continent by beyond netero, as the queen conveniently had human dna, so its ancestors must have somehow eaten humans or she might have been genetically engineered and given human dna. Also it's placement in the NGL was incredibly lucky as the NGL was the only place in the world where the chimera ants could eat humans without being instantly exterminated by firearms, as no technology is allowed in the NGL. Beyond netoero might have secured some of the chimera ant army along with pariston.
Here me out: Killua is gay He kisses gon in the hunterpedia In the 1999 version he smacks gons ass and gon blushes In the 1999 version he asks gon if he wants to watch adult films with him He blushes in several conversations He literally bathed with him (idc if it’s a culture thing that’s gay asf) Togashi himself said they their relationship was supposed to be gay.
I dont think Killua is gay, but I think he is a woman hater...to an extent....maybe thats why people think of him like that...he really seems to not be able to converse with women without offending them....its kinda funny (Fujiyoshi/ lack of understading of real friendships and in manga they separate which I dont think would be the case otherwise) Ging stone thing is just sick... no way. Komugi x Meurem, there was nothing malicious there Chimera got to the small continents as a punishment for crossing onto the dark continent. Kurta clan is from the Dark continent probably. Tpgashi said that Hisoka would kill machi after the Chrolo fight but he didn't so maybe phantom troop and Kurapika survive afterall. Hisoka is a pedophile....doesnt matter why he is attracted to Gon, he IS attracted to Gon = he a pedo. I remember that in manga Kaluto was female but in anime a trap...so yeah, not just across the manga different pronouns but sometimes pronouns, for some characters, dont match from anime to manga... meaning HxH is a pronoun hell either way (they should do a pronoun sheet for everyone)
I was surprised I didn't see the Shalnark is a kurta theory here since I think it's pretty popular There is a *lot* of holes in it, but I think it's a cool concept... but I don't think he would have scarlet eyes. Maybe he was put in meteor city because he didn't have them, and instead of having brown/black colored eyes, he had an unnatural tealish color, and because of the kurtas most likely superstitious and protective nature, they put him in a place where nobody would have found a trace of the kurta clan. That's my take on it at least. (on a similar note, I don't like the feitan zoldyck theory lol) I was also surprised that I didn't see the Illumi = Hisoka one, since it has a lot of backup to it and it's very popular, but I won't go too into it. I really love the Sheila = Pariston theory too. Nobody ever mentions it, but another supporting factor is that kurapikas one-shot was made right after the chairman election arc where Pariston was formerly introduced (instead of just being mentioned as the vice-chairman), and that kurapika and pariston are kind of connected (kurapika being the rat zodiac and all, pariston making a point to compliment him) but they conveniently have not met. To me, the whole thing with pariston reaching out to the phantom troupe is somewhat of a stretch, but I do think that meteor city and the kurta clan are historically connected in some way. (if this is true, it would make it even more interesting if Shalnark was a kurta) The phantom troupe did make it a point to leave their home's motto at the crime scene... were they fulfilling some sort of grudge for their city? Who knows. I also came up with a theory myself (somebody else might have said it but idk), I think that the gatekeeper on the dark continent may be the original kurta clan, as the gatekeeper was stated to be a clan, but that's really my only evidence, as well as the fact that since Kurapika is heading there, it would make for a hell of a plot twist (along with him finally meeting pariston). Who am I kidding, though I love theories and I think about hxh all the time, so the combination leads to this kind of stuff. I love the video!!
Yeah, I completely forgot to include the Hisoka = Illumi theory. Glad you liked it tho! That gate keeper theory is really interesting! I def think there are still Kurta on the dark continent as well.
The pregnancy stone theory is my favourite because it’s literally THE FUNNIEST. My friends are I joke about it a lot and k can’t get tired of it. “Ging, who’s my mom?” “Me. Also Chrollo has claimed he believes that Judas wasn't a traitor
15:07 everything except beyond’s involvement + paristons involvement has been confirmed within the canon. It is alluded too when the zodiacs are discussing beyond that he was hunting old man netero. Going confirms to him that chimera ants originated in the dark continent and were b- level danger. Beyond was planning this all for years. Just a heads up, you seem to try to debunk stuff for the sake of it. A lot of this stuff is in the manga you just can’t speed read or you miss it

*Spoiler ahead*
I guess you could see this as the fourteen princes / princesses and their different special powers they got but I really doubt it and it seems far-fetched
@@ThisIsChris-Anime 14, not really. Most groups are numbered 12. (12 disciples, tribes, etc). if you reeeeallly wanna stretch things out you could say that there are 14 judges of Israel.
They are traditionally numbered 12 as well, but if you count Eli and Samuel, who arent really judges, but fit in as the same government type, but as I said it, really stretching things here, they could be counted as 14
Finally an anime iceberg based of a single anime haven't seen one in a long time
Its so rare for no reason

This is all just thoughts:
Chrollo being a specialist, it's possible he could have a second ability to loan some of his overall power into his troupe members to make them stronger as long as they have the tattoo. Would kind of fit with the reverse jesus and his disciples theme too. like a pact with the devil. maybe chrollo's forehead tattoo is another condition of it. But if it was conditional nen, and a troupe member died, I feel like the tattoo would disappear and the power would return to Chrollo.
Interesting theory! I guess only time will tell at this point :)

It’s Quorru
there was a "dark continent tier list" in the manga (no i dont know which volume, somewhere around the end of election ark im guessing) which had chimera ants included, so yes, they are from the dark continent. if my memory serves, they were ranked a b+

True. Also when fetman almost breaks gons arm, but nobunaga stops him with a coin flip
got this on recommended, good video!
It is crazy how it all lines up like that
You may not underatand why "Bungee Gum has the properties of both rubber and gum" is a meme, but dont let that distract you from the fact that Bungee Gum has the properties of both rubber AND gum.
Damn, I can't believe I let "Bungee Gum as the properties of both rubber and gum" as a meme distract me from the fact that Bungee gum has the properties of both rubber and gum!

That phantom troupe/12 disciples comparison is cool
The theory about Kurta Clan being from the Dark Continent missed the fact that... All humanity is claimed canonically to come from there also. So...
When is that stated?
Its not a theory, its said in the anime, Ging says it to gon at the end

We have seen small chimera ants before and they didn’t had the ability to talk… plus while she was confused about names that her children (squadrons) wanted ,she still named the royal guards and her son Meruem despite that and pondered if she might have distant human dna too as they do
All the way to Beyond’s travel to the dark continent and what he may have found in the uncharted path he wasn’t supposed to take and what calamities he revived in turn.

Unlike 2011.)
The next point is from the Greed Island Arc.

That kind of confirms is for me, with the fact that everyone who worked on the show thinks they are in fact lovers

it makes sense that the chimera ant queen was brought from the dark continent by beyond netero, as the queen conveniently had human dna, so its ancestors must have somehow eaten humans or she might have been genetically engineered and given human dna. Also it's placement in the NGL was incredibly lucky as the NGL was the only place in the world where the chimera ants could eat humans without being instantly exterminated by firearms, as no technology is allowed in the NGL. Beyond netoero might have secured some of the chimera ant army along with pariston.

He kisses gon in the hunterpedia
In the 1999 version he smacks gons ass and gon blushes
In the 1999 version he asks gon if he wants to watch adult films with him
He blushes in several conversations
He literally bathed with him (idc if it’s a culture thing that’s gay asf)
Togashi himself said they their relationship was supposed to be gay.
I dont think Killua is gay, but I think he is a woman hater...to an extent....maybe thats why people think of him like that...he really seems to not be able to converse with women without offending them....its kinda funny (Fujiyoshi/ lack of understading of real friendships and in manga they separate which I dont think would be the case otherwise)
Ging stone thing is just sick... no way.
Komugi x Meurem, there was nothing malicious there
Chimera got to the small continents as a punishment for crossing onto the dark continent.
I remember that in manga Kaluto was female but in anime a trap...so yeah, not just across the manga different pronouns but sometimes pronouns, for some characters,
dont match from anime to manga... meaning HxH is a pronoun hell either way (they should do a pronoun sheet for everyone)
I was surprised I didn't see the Shalnark is a kurta theory here since I think it's pretty popular
There is a *lot* of holes in it, but I think it's a cool concept... but I don't think he would have scarlet eyes.
(on a similar note, I don't like the feitan zoldyck theory lol)
I was also surprised that I didn't see the Illumi = Hisoka one, since it has a lot of backup to it and it's very popular, but I won't go too into it.
