  • On June 4, India delivered a historic verdict for the 2024 Lok Sabha election: while the BJP-led NDA is set to return for a third term with around 290 seats, the opposition INDIA bloc can take much encouragement from their performance as they won 232 seats. The BJP, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, now faces the prospect of running a coalition government for the next five years.
In this conversation with election researcher Ashish Ranjan, senior journalist Saba Naqvi discusses the general election results, major takeaways for all parties, and more.

Writing on the wall was Bold and Clear since around 15.5.2024 or may be a week later. Not based on survey/ expert opinion/ poll statistics/ analysis etc.
    It was possible to foresee convincingly enough that;
    • BJP would miss the 272 mark this time. PK/YY/YD/ Annamala..... not needed.
    • In such scenario BJP could still manage with the help of present NDA partners contributing up to 30 to 40.
    • 220±20 + NDA Allies = 260±30.
    • If BJP misses the mark by more than 50 then they would have to seek the support from outside of NDA.
This was a speculation and based on hunch.
    What is the basis?
    1. Arrogance and show of overconfidence on the part of Modi/BJP
    2. Modi is not revered like Atalji and Manmohan ji who inspired trust and respect from the voters
    3. Declining image of Modi as Bluff Master
    4. Rising inequality and attempt to appease the poor with free ration and rhetorics. Denying MSP to the Kisan.
    5. Lack of vision by the govt to empower the poor due to lack of application and rigour expected of the govt
    6. Democracy is not complete by excluding a significant minority continuously for valid/ invalid reasons regardless of majority
    7. Needs of Democracy not well understood by the BJP and it is likely to remain so under the present leadership
    8. BJP leadership lacks the vision, experience and competences needed to see things differently for the betterment of the nation. That is the reason for dark strategies like Match Fixing, foul legislation etc
    9. Party leadership is politically immature because of that it's weaknesses are getting exposed
    10. Administratively BJP is not placed well enough to deliver good governance and guide the country in the right path
    11. Modi - Shah type of leadership and politics may not be sustainable and perhaps their exit is needed and will do good to party and govt both
    12. People of the country are realising that country's image and stature is rising because of the contribution/sacrifices/achievements of common citizens and NOT because of the leadership or the government. People are prepared to take risk
The verdict is to reject World Class/ Vishwa Guru. GDP rank 4321/ G20 summit / UCC are nonsense.
Mandate is for making life more bearable for common class. Affordablity and accessibility are the key. Target and improve HDI.
Next govt should have the vision and means to create sustainable environment to support individual creativity and social enterprise that is self reliant based on it's own ingenuity and innovations. Capitalism can deliver better results.
Inflation, unemploment, corruption are not the causes of misery but they are effects. Merely reflecting the reality. Solutions can come from new ways of thinking locally considering global opportunities and threats.
BJP leadership/ govt are not equipped to visualise and engage meaningfully. They are bound to fail even after forming the govt for the third time in succession. That gives the political parties plenty of opportunities to reinvent. Otherwise Cong will be back again with all of their limitations and weaknesses. Country might find an alternative quickly. If not then our miseries and uncertainties about the future will continue.

    For the Gap food I.N.D.I.A.
Good to see the religious politics as well as Modi mania is on wane which is a gain and the emergence of people demanding better livelihood than fed on God's .
Women voters are decisive for outcome and they should get away from cult figures like Indira Gandhi, now Modiji.
Being head of household look at cost of living unemployment and no hope of immediate cost reduction..
