    Actually my old charge one hand opened more ezly than my friend’s new free p2. It need weeks of breaking in, also I loose the bolt just by a hair. Love the new Arc but having the Charge I have no real need for it beside the new steal blade

      I've modified my waveplus to fit my needs and can't justify the arc either also 1 handed opening now as a result and the s30 blade that in it now out preforms my Benchmade Bugout s30v

    No doubt a nice tool but ive broken my wave 3 times now under normal use so i just couldn't handle the cost of this and then breaking it hahaha on the positive side last time i sent my wave in for repair it came back a wave plus which was nice 😂

      @@JimKinkade just normal use. Had the flat driver break once on a screw, the actual handle near the pivot point cracked once, and the tip of the pliers snapped clean off while gripping a nut at work.
      Not once was I abusing it or doing anything dumb when i sent it back for repair but the last time I broke the can opener that was my fault as I was using it to hook and pull something at work so I just bought a new can opener and replaced it at home.
      I actually bought a second wave just to use when my main one was off for repair since I use it so much at work.
      I love the tool and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, but I have seen what it can and can't do lol

    I ordered my arc today. I can’t wait to get my hands on this. I have a surge with the bit kit and it’s a great tool. But I really wanted the P4 and never pulled the trigger. The knife and bit exchanger on the arc sold it for me.

      @@smoothoperator-hy8gb i kept the wave+ its overall the more solid multitool. 2 key factors made the decision for me. the screwdriver experience is super bad on the arc, as the handle flops around when turning the tool. And the arc is full of sharp edges which would wear a hole into my (also expensive) leather holster. the only thing i will miss are the scissors though, they are amazing.
      Having experienced both tools i would go with the wave + every time.

    Great video, I like multitools, leatherman makes nice ones. My daily used one is the Leatherman surge, great solid tool, you can use jigsaw blades for cutting metal, or wood. And I have the Leatherman wave plus. Both are two handed opening, but they work fine. My other one is a victorinox swiss tool which is also well designed. But in general I try to use a dedicated tool when it's possible. Multitools are more an emergency option for me. The surge is the most used because is more robust with big pliers and good cutters.

    • @JimKinkade

      @@JimKinkade Yes, the surge is on of the biggest Leatherman tools, it's heavy, big blades, serrated and normal, diamond file is detachable, you can sharpen your knife on the go, scissors, and you can use any T shank blades. It's a heavy duty tool.

    Magnacut is a super premium steel. Its the only reason why its so much money. The Charge+ (TTI and the other variants) has S30V. Is a higher quality steel (S30V is nothing to sneeze at) worth paying another $40-70 to perform the same tasks with a knife? Not unless Im constantly using the knife for variety of tasks all day to the point where it never goes back in my pocket. And if you dont know how to sharpen it correctly, you'll end up paying someone else to do it. The only time Ive seen Leatherman bust out anything more premium than S30V or 154CM is for limited addition items. Otherwise, 420HC would have sufficed and I wouldn't be surprised if they came out with a version with a lesser quality steel at the Charge+ price point.
    I really wanted to add this to my LM collection, but not at that price. I have the Charge+ with the red G10 handles instead of titanium like the TTI, Signal, Fuse, Skeletool CX, Free T2, Sidekick, and a few more Im forgetting.

    • @JimKinkade
      @JimKinkade  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I didn’t realize the knife added so much to the cost. I thought it was due to all the magnets and bearings in how it swings open. So how should I sharpen the magnacut blade?

  • @crowonthepowerlines
    @crowonthepowerlines 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The signal is already a great multitool. It has interchangeable bits and all the other basic tools he would need. I would recommend just getting a bit kit to add on to what he already has.

      @@JimKinkade They're probably not that useful, but they don't make the other tools any less useful. My policy has always been to only buy a tool when I have a specific use for it. The Arc is a great tool, but unless there is a specific feature on it that he needs I don't see any reason to replace the Signal.

    I just got a Daicamping DL30 (Leatherman Surge Clone) for $35. It uses standard double sided 1/4 bits. I could buy 6 DL30s for the same price of the Arc.
