Does it hold like gel? I'm thinking of trying it.

I truly appreciate this video Desiree. I’ve been locked for eight months now and have struggled with the excessive dryness of my scalp and hair using only clarifying shampoos, rose water, oils, and gel (from time to time). I miss the products I used on my loose natural hair and how beautifully it behaved. My scalp, roots, and strands where always moisturized and soft.
Now I’m just so disappointed because I’ve been following what other people are doing or say I should be doing to my locs. I don’t want build up as much as anyone else, BUT at the rate I’m going my hair will continue to dry out and eventually break off.
Thank you for reminding me that I have to do what works best for my scalp and hair. I can always make another choice until I get the healthy and build up free balance I’m looking for.😁

I’m glad this works for you!! I need a stronger hold lol. I use Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera gel 👌🏽 no build up. Even did an acv rinse. No dirty water 🤞🏽🥰

Hey Desiree! I'm thoroughly enjoying your channel and your journey. I've recently returned to loc nation after reattaching my original preserved locs from 2001 (total growth 1997-2001) Getting to become reacquainted with the loc community has been so refreshing and envigorating!!! When I first loc'd in 1997, I used Natures Blessings but it made my scalp (at the time) very itchy. I'm going to have to try the clear version. Keep up providing us with great content!!

As a loose natural, people threw shade on grease, when our moms would use grease on us as kids. I never had an issue. So I went back to grease!
I'm going to start my loc journey (again, didn't work out the first time) I plan on using the same items I used as a loose natural. I don't use gels, so I think I'll do well.
With having locs since the hair will be wrapped around itself I bo linger having my sitting dryer in my new apt (to big, old school dryer from the 70s).
Any suggestions on something to help dry my hair THOROUGHLY without a sitting/handheld dryer? I refuse to use the handheld and go back n forth trying to dry lol

Hello! If you haven’t tried Oyin Handmade’s hair pomade it’s amazing! They have all natural ingredients and I mean EVERYTHING. They come in 2 yummy scents the burnt sugar and juices and berries. i have NEVER experienced build up. I absolutely love it and would definitely recommend.

I used the green one years ago. I like the Carol's Daughter hair pomade to "grease my scalp" but these days I re-twist with water/oil and that's even rare for me now.

Have you tried making your own flaxseed gel mixed with aloe Vera gel ???? It actually works pretty well and the hold is pretty good !

I slept on hair grease through most of my natural journey...til I colored my hair I need something to keep it moisturized so I reached for a jar of blue magic. Instantly my hair became moisturized became thicker and started growing faster...easier to detangle and kept
styles longer. Now I'm one year loc'ed and I'm returning back to grease. I think my hair likes it...also I have a major lint buildup on last row of locs it came from my bedding I've tried everything to get it out...now I'm be standing in the mirror laughing like a mentally disturbed person. Do you have any tips on stubborn embedded lint...Thanks

Lol I have the same issue. I be wanting to take scissors to the last two rows of my locs and start all over!!! I'm trying to learn how to just deal with it!!!

Thanks for your video. I use 100% African Shea Butter (creamy) by Kuza along with castor oil on my roots. It gives a surprisingly good hold with no build up.

I to have to stay on top of my moisturization and I'm finding the oil and the Jamaican lime leave my hair dry. So I'm going to try the nature's blessings pomade 😉 I read the ingredients and it contains a lot of goodies plus good intentions 😄 Thanks for the info!

Can you recommend a styling gel that doesn’t have shea butter or cocoa butter? I’m allergic to both those ingredients

Do you mist/spritz your roots with water. Before apply grease on the roots to retwist ?

Contains mineral jelly so not for me I'm afraid. I've made the switch to jojoba oil in place of wild growth oil. Still sticking with 1 oil and orange blossom water.
I'll keep watching to see how u get on. It may work well for you 👍🏾👍🏾
