Bahamas Sailing; Navigating through Devil's Backbone (Calico Skies Sailing Ep. 19)

- After much planning we finally complete the passage through the notoriously tricky Devil's Backbone reef and arrive at a beautiful secluded beach north of Harbour Island, Eleuthera. We are being extra cautious as we opted to tackle the reef without the aid of a pilot, using our charts in conjunction with our eyes to "read" the color of the water in order to differentiate between reef and deep water.
A tropical paradise awaits us on the other side and immediate plans include plenty of time in the water and on the beach.

Yes you were definitely trying to cut with the wrong side of the chainsaw chain they are the guides that hold the chain on the bar of the chainsaw. The cutting heads are the 1/4 “ flat ones with a sharp leading edge

One word "windlass"
Windlass was a huge upgrade! Went 3 years without but didn’t feel safe as grace couldn’t lift anchor
Did you ever figure out that hand chainsaw? It looked like the cutting side of the blade was facing out...
hahah could have been!! It was too much work after a bit and we gave up HAHA

Not what you would expect, the water main to the island is underwater and compromised, allowing salt water to enter the main. What a time for our water maker to fail lol 😂
What kind of boat is Andromeda?
She is an 86' Catalina 34, sweet boat!
Those hand saws work pretty good but you were using it backwards. Not talking shit or anything im just saying.
