Wow. I remember when this song dropped. walking around as a 14yr old Aussie. Before i learned about all styles of music. This was the White version of F Da Police by NWA. in my neighbourhood in Australia.
MAST3RCHIEF 98 Ayo I never knew that... but that show would’ve been dope asf & most likely went down in history if they would’ve went with it. Damnit!!😤
This song is about the press and media making up bogus stories and taking shots at the band. And as it says in the end, it is dedicated to all the GN'R fans that stuck with them through all they have been through. This is a rare song that calls out the specific music critics and their publications, as Axl mentions Andy Secher at Hit Parader, Mick Wall at Kerrang! and Bob Guccione Jr. at Spin. According to an article in The Washington Post, Guccione wrote a letter to Rose, stating he accepted the challenge (to "get in the ring") but no fight ever occurred.
Yes I remember that!! I was 13 or 14 at that time and I actually believed that fight would happen one day.... and I was so ready for it lol Metal mags were horrible and very well know for making shit up and starting controversy with bands.... never made sense to me. Most bands do a very good job of starting or getting into controversies without any outside help lol G n R was and awesome band, still love them!!
They were calling out everyone who trashed them in the press. Axl basically had enough and decided to put em all on full blast. It's a great song to blare to everyone bringing you down and never letting up. 🕊️
Remember when i was a kid how cool i thought the chorus was with that creepy singer. Little did i know it was Alice Cooper. Today He/them are one of my favourite bands, at least the 70s albums
Hit parader, Kerrang, circus magazine etc were rock n roll magazines from the 70's to early 2000's or so. Being a teen when Guns came out, it was an amazing fucken time, 1987-92 was the best block in music history !!!
Back in the 80s and 90s GnRs were considerd and dangerous band and even tho they had a massive fan base certain magazines were doing interviews with the band and then changing some of the statments to make the band sound and seem evil and dangerous. So the band fought back .
Great reaction! I'm happy that you chose that song, although it's not that famous. I remember listening to it when the album came out and I was still a teenager. We were all a little scandalized and a lot of impressed by this song. And we loved "our" band for it.
This type of music is what GnR is actually known for. They have really good, creative lyricism and a vicious delivery. This isn't their best song like this. Their jump off Appetite for Destruction delivers on the name, but if you only heard Sweet Child of Mine and Paradise City, you'd never know. They've always been pissed off at someone lol. It was great for the fans until they ended up hating each other. If you like this vibe, check out You Could Be Mine, Welcome to the Jungle, My Michelle, Nighttrain, Mr. Brownstone...
Hit Parader and Circus Magazine: They printed fabricated interviews with GNR or compiled paraphrased quotes from other sources and presented them as if it were exclusives. Mick Wall at Kerrang: Not clear what the problem with him was. Maybe an interview with Axl where Axl's words were twisted. Bob Guccione Jr. at Spin: The accusation was that they printed lies about the band.
i'm totally sending this reaction video to my child's 'popular music' teacher. she got a two week suspension for presenting the song to her year 8 class. (No Mr we dont need a ring, it probably was a tad sweary for school lol, but it started a lot of conversations, which is hugely important!) and yes, popular music is an elective subject here in my little Australian town, how cool is that!
Nice reaction my friend. You got it right away...GnR was still a real rock n roll band back then, and that didn't sit well with the press at the time as they did all they could to kill heavy rock and were in love with grunge. Before the internet, magazines were all we had to learn shit about the bands we loved. Circus, Hit Parader, Metal Maniacs, Kerrang, that was all we had and Axl let us know they were printing bullshit. My first introduction to media bias...Axl could be a real ass, but he was pretty blatantly honest and I think that's why we still love him.
With that look when he jumped off the stage, you’re gonna have to watch the Guns N Roses St Louis Riot. Christ it’s fantastic. And will make you hate/love Axl to the moon and back lol

This is unique.. you didn’t expect this kind of profanity on a rock CD back then, plus nobody else even close to their stature ever fired shots like these on their albums. The closest my avatar came up with was “Cherub Rock” which was in modern terms a subtweet against “hipsters” in general.
This is the real guns n roses. Fuck all that Sweet Child O’ Mine pop bullshit. They just did that to make money. Guns N’ Roses all fucked models, did more drugs than you can imagine, got in fights with the crowd, got in fights with other bands. They were fucking ruthless. More gangster than half these gangster rappers. Listen to “it’s so easy”, and watch the uncensored video if you’re brave enough. So, back in the day you had metal magazines. Circus, hit parade or, kerrang. They were like the TMZ of magazines. They were paparazzi, and they would print anything to sell magazines including lies about the bands.
When you here “ Get in the Ring” That was me and my girl at Saratoga Preforming Arts in NY-1992 ish-Axl said to sing it as loud we can-Get in the Ring! Get in the Ring!
Thats bullshit. That was crowds at a venue on their first stop on the uyi tour and they asked them to chant it as loud as possible to put on the song. This was since the albums weren't finished yet since axl fired the mixer therefore weren't finished in time
Thank you for reacting to a non-hit vehicle of GNR. I wanna see so much more reactions, but most people stick to the hits..and there is soo much more..great songs, that never got to be a single, and are sometimes better...Thank you, keep it up, please.
Dude people always react to November Rain, Patience, Paradise City, Sweet Child, etc Thats not what Guns N Roses were JUST about. They were considered the bad boys of the music industry in the late 80s and early 90s. They held the title of “Most Dangerous Band in the World.” They were reckless, wild and didn’t give a FUCK! Why I loved them so much. They lived that R&R life style. They were only a band for a short time. Their first studio album came out in 1987. Their last studio album 1991. 1993 album was just a cover album of punk songs. Anyways, they were the biggest band of the 80s and one of the most popular and best bands of alltime. You want to get a sense of who Guns N Roses were then listen to these songs: You Could Be Mine, It’s So Easy, Nightrain, The Garden and Rocket Queen. Axl fucked his drummers girlfriend in the studio and out her moaning ON the actual song “Rocket Queen.” They didn’t give a damn man. Also Axl would wear NWA hats a lot of times to try and get NWA attention before they got big Bc he was a Fan. Many times NWA would be in GNR’s dressing room while GNR performed. Axl tried to get a GUNS N ROSES/NWA concert together but they couldn’t get it done Bc both bands were considered to dangerous. He actually wore an NWA hat in their LIVE & LET DIE video. Check those out man!!!
@MartinMeshia You don't know that,I'm sure you're right about some of them but some are genuine. Unless you know them personally ,then it's just your assumption

LMAO, when your eyes bugged out near the end, that was a fun night. St. Louis, July 2cd 91, they were the first thing to ever perform at Riverport. Axl asked the security to stop this guy (Billy) from taking pictures, yet Billy was a Saddle Tramp (Motorcycle gang along the lines of the Hells Angels) and so were the security, so when they would not stop Billy, Axl said fuck it, security wont stop him, I will, and jumped into the crowd, broke Billy's camera and jaw, and then walked out on the crowd, show was over, then the fans tore that place down, 14K people riot. They have a ton of songs, that are not majestic or nice.
They recorded the live chant at Saratoga Springs NY show June 10th 1991. I was there. Wild show. But the never played the song live. And the song was directed at the magazine companies and media.
This was like the first rock and roll diss song!! And a very underrated song!! And fun fact, Bob guccione Jrs dad, Bob Guccione Sr is the guy that started penthouse magazine.
Way late to the party.. but the people he named were writers/publishers/editors/music critics for various magazines. Those things we used to have to read before the internet..... they went in on him, a lot. He had his own "issues", but when they went in on him right after he got married to that supermodel.. (Stephanie Seymore?) and she passed away basically right after.. the things they wrote then, deserved every bit of this song..... just to nudge you in the direction of the right mindset.. they said things like "he does drugs, I wonder if".... "He gets drunk and fights with his own bandmates, maybe he...." Listen to the song November Rain, and tell me the man ain't love her, and was rightfully put into attack mode when they went over THAT line.....
Songs ‘get in the ring’ and ‘dont damm me’ were retaliation from the band who were strongly criticised for the use of strong lyrics in the song ‘one in a million’ where axl rose was being branded a racist besides slash’s mother being black.
Trust me, you have to react to Always on the Run Guns n Roses feat Lenny Kravitz Paris 92, You will love since Slash and Lenny wrote it, very cool . Funky, energy was crazy. Please, please
The first part of the song was dedicated to Vince the singer of Motley Crue, the rest to some reporters that always try to create controversi around GNR

Can’t speak for some of the magazines attacks but the reason mick wall was there is that in an interview not long after the 1989 mtv awards where vince Neil of motley crue hit guitarist Izzy stradlin , axl went on a rant and offered to fight him. When it was published he said he never said anything like that. But wall had recorded the interview. So axl fell out with him. Then at rock in Rio 2 in 91 wall covered the event and as guns were the biggest story there he wrote how they’d changed and now had bodyguards and egos out of control. Axl threatened to sue. Then wall wrote his book on guns which again pissed off axl.. mostly because was full of stuff that made axl look like a chicken for not fighting vince Neil. This is all according to Mick Wall.
Ya gotta look react to Double Talkin’ Jive dedicated to “a cheap punk named Warren Beatty”. Think it was live from Paris. Or the same track live from Met Life Stadium which has an awesome guitar solo in it.
The part where Slash appears in shorts was because he was so fckd up that he couldn't even play so he took all his clothes off in the miffle of the concert. That was in St. Louis, it ended with Axl jumping to the crowd, punching someone and leaving. The crowd got so wild that destroyed the stadium, all the cars and buildings around the stadium. Is known as the St. Louis incident, watch the full concert, half of it is slash fckng up and Axl getting angry at him. Look it up on TH-cam
This was the rock version of a diss song
Instead of other rockers, they were dissing the "journalists".
