Saw this cast recently; they're wonderful. I've gotten a bit jaded about "Bring Him Home" over the years but Nick Cartell's rendition blew me away. Beautiful, soft full sound.
Just saw the show in Chicago--Nick Cartell was born to play this part--or it was written for him years ago. He has an effortless voice and portrays an empathy not seen in the other 29 times I have seen Les Mis. If you have the chance to see this in any city, go. Each cast member was incredible-were as good or better than any time I have seen it, including the original production in London in 1987. Go see this show!!!
This is the most beautiful thing I think I've ever seen. Except for Les Mis on Broadway of course, but even the rehearsals are beautiful and moving. Just perfection!!!
Her name is Phoenix Best. She was recently in the 2015 Broadway revival of The Color Purple. She's really talented just like everyone in that show was/is.
I saw Les Mis in Greenville. This cast is so talented and I had an understudy as Eponine. It is hard to be disappointed by a Les Mis cast even if you have an understudy.
I quite like that Phoenix Best (playing Eponine) is singing with her own accent instead of a horrible forced British one (I mean sometimes the American actors accents are done well but I prefer a natural American accent over a bad British one any day)
Reagan Bramlish Well normally actors use a British accent when doing les mis (I don't know why) although on second listen it seems like most of the actors are using their own accents (see: Marius in One Day More)
I think it's because Les Mis originally opened in London in 1985 so quite a few of the cast members apart from Patti Lupone were British so they had natural British accents. So, I thought that maybe the American actors are attempting to copy their accents but some actors decide not to because they find it difficult.
The original production usually sets the “template” for the rest of the official productions. Since it first opened on the West End (instead of on Broadway) and the producers are British, there’s a very strong British flavor to it, although I’m not sure as well if the actors in the US productions are actually expected (or asked) to adopt a British accent...
I saw this on tour, and if you thought Phoenix Best sounded good here, you should have seen it live. she completely blew the audience away with On My Own. This video does not do the cast justice at all
Wow, just looked at the tour locations. Very East and South-heavy schedule. One stop in AZ and one in CA, none of the common stops in Denver, SLC, Seattle, Portland, Bay Area, etc. Sorry fellow thespians in the West, we're out of luck on this one!
I know it’s a year later, but Grantaire was a much bigger character in this version. It was amazing to watch. His death made me cry more than any other, because it was so well done.
To be fair we've only really seen the younger side of the cast of the show. Usually, Javer, the Thenardiers, and the priest are the older side of the main characters, and there were some forty/fifty-somethings in the chorus I thought.
I saw the show with this cast last week and we thought JVJ was like 35-40 bc of his makeup but when we saw his photo we where so surprised Nick was very good at being old and John (Jevtre Ik I didn't spell that right) was very good do the cast was well castes
Owain Milliken It's coming to providence thought which is fairly close to Boston. I live in the Boston area so I'm disappointed but I might get to see it when it comes to providence
True, not as convenient. I used to live in Camden, ME and go to shows in Boston. Now I'm in Seattle, which has great locally-produced theatre and pre-broadway pipelines plus most of the big tours, but the closest stop of this Les Mis is San Diego 1300 miles away!!!
Ryan Brown I saw this cast in Rhode Island and then again in Conneticut and both shows had different kids for Gavroche so i think theres a different kid in each state probably. Idk how castings works for kids
So a production with great vocalists but no actors?.. New concept?....... (and why Valjean is being played by a 20y/o???) C'mon Macintosh, GET IT TOGETHER!!
On Broadway there was a young actor who i think was named to be the youngest Valjean in that production His name was Kyle Jean-Baptiste {age 21} So having a young Valjean is not bad because you can't really know half way through because of all the make up that's on the actor that shows Valjean's old age.
When just the rehearsal of One Day More gives you goosebumps
When every song gives you goosebumps.
Nick Cartel is fantastic live.
Disagree. Choir boy. Need a grizzled man for the role.
Saw this cast recently; they're wonderful. I've gotten a bit jaded about "Bring Him Home" over the years but Nick Cartell's rendition blew me away. Beautiful, soft full sound.
Saw it yesterday and I totally agree. Gave me chills!
Oh my, yes. The most moving performance I ever expect to see. The kind of beauty you’re not sure you deserve, but are grateful for the gift of it.
Saw last weekend. The best live performance of Bring Home of the 16 times I’ve seen the musical. He was astounding.

Lisa Kaufman I saw it today!!!
This is the most beautiful thing I think I've ever seen. Except for Les Mis on Broadway of course, but even the rehearsals are beautiful and moving. Just perfection!!!
That Eponine is GOOD
cm1727 What a relief! Much better than the really horrible one when Lea Miz re-opened on Broadway in 2013-14!
She was incredible!

The girl with the yellow skirt is amazing!!
Her name is Phoenix Best. She was recently in the 2015 Broadway revival of The Color Purple. She's really talented just like everyone in that show was/is.

Nick’s got serious power! Awesome Valjean.
I saw Les Mis in Greenville. This cast is so talented and I had an understudy as Eponine. It is hard to be disappointed by a Les Mis cast even if you have an understudy.
This Eponine is slaying.
I quite like that Phoenix Best (playing Eponine) is singing with her own accent instead of a horrible forced British one (I mean sometimes the American actors accents are done well but I prefer a natural American accent over a bad British one any day)
molly devlin wouldn't it be a French accent tho since they're in France?
Reagan Bramlish Well normally actors use a British accent when doing les mis (I don't know why) although on second listen it seems like most of the actors are using their own accents (see: Marius in One Day More)

Samantha Pauly Fan Les Miz opened in Paris in 1980.
when you smile and met two people from others show are in les mis

Lars Jorgensen ? Just saw it last night in Portland! It was Amazing.
Nick wearing a suit at rehearsal just to flex
who’s playing grantaire this is important
sage ayy I follow you on insta
Akomondo hello!!!
I know it’s a year later, but Grantaire was a much bigger character in this version. It was amazing to watch. His death made me cry more than any other, because it was so well done.
Does anybody know the name of the guy who plays Enjolras?
Anna Fialková matt shingledecker
Carlos Almacen Thank you
Carlos Almacen I KNEW I RECOGNIZED HIM WOW I LOVE MATT
MATT SHINGLEDECKER!!! AKA Fiyero from the Wicked Munchkinland Tour, Wicked on Broadway, and we was even in Spring Awakening!
Matt Shingldeker!!!!! He was I nice I met him at the stagedoor
They're all really good but why are they all in their twenties. There should be more age diversity to make the story believable.
To be fair we've only really seen the younger side of the cast of the show. Usually, Javer, the Thenardiers, and the priest are the older side of the main characters, and there were some forty/fifty-somethings in the chorus I thought.
I mean, why is Jean Valjean younger than cosette? Lol... Although they do put on makeup and stuff in the actual play.
I agree. I’d like to see an older Valjean and Javert!
I saw the show with this cast last week and we thought JVJ was like 35-40 bc of his makeup but when we saw his photo we where so surprised Nick was very good at being old and John (Jevtre Ik I didn't spell that right) was very good do the cast was well castes
Maria Scooby4000 I’m late to the party but nick Cartell is actually forty to be fair
anything is better than nikki let's be honest
douglasings yes!
yep
Amen!!
Who knew one song could kill a revival because it did
does anyone know who's going to play Grantaire??
the damn les mis tour that isn't coming to boston
Owain Milliken It's coming to providence thought which is fairly close to Boston. I live in the Boston area so I'm disappointed but I might get to see it when it comes to providence
Trumpet1102 nah i live in maine so boston is more convenient since its only an hour or two away.
True, not as convenient. I used to live in Camden, ME and go to shows in Boston. Now I'm in Seattle, which has great locally-produced theatre and pre-broadway pipelines plus most of the big tours, but the closest stop of this Les Mis is San Diego 1300 miles away!!!
Who is valjean?!
Is this show going back on Bway again? Or is this the US touring cast?
Juniper Sora this is just the touring cast....nothing has been said yet about it coming back to Broadway, since it closed last year!
Yeah this is probably the US national tour. I know it's coming to my city next month so they probably just started the rehearsals recently.
Katie Tucker yep!!
Hello my name is Charlotte and I aspire to be able to sing like Phoenix best
Is Phoenix Fantine or Eponine?
Cristian Ramos eponine
#askifitsequity is it equity?
Where is this playing
Reese Stojanovski it's the US national tour, you can find a list of cities they're going to if you google it :)
www.lesmis.com/us-tour
I wish Phoenix her had played Eponine in the show I just saw. Eponine in the show in SF tonight was horrible...
Hunky cast!
why do they all look so young???
Who is this Gavroche??
Ryan Brown I saw this cast in Rhode Island and then again in Conneticut and both shows had different kids for Gavroche so i think theres a different kid in each state probably. Idk how castings works for kids
I can't think of a good name there are like 2 or 3 alternating or something due to child labor laws I think
x
I'll be honest, I'm a little underwhelmed
Haley Franke i
