Xiaomi 12T First Look: A Great Phone in a CROWDED Market!

  • TEAM SGG PATREON / somegadgetguy Xiaomi 12T first impressions. Xiaomi is REALLY good at making phones around this price. Refreshing the 12, and focusing on power efficiency, we arrive at a VERY nice daily driver option. It feels premium, and it performs well. It's far from the only phone in this tier though, and the competition in "THE MIDDLE" is getting tougher and tougher.

Great review as always, just bought this phone.
One "correction" maybe: At 4:30 - you just click dont agree and youre done. From the part of the video where youve shown the stats I could see the ROM name (slqeuxm), and apparently its the EEA one intended for the European market. That means, among other things, that it fully complies with the rather strict GDPR policy of the EU. Out of all the localized versions you need to worry the least about privacy with this one. Click "dont agree" wherever you encounter such a screen and thats it.

The software support is a factor, and you won't get as many OS updates, but you will get MUCH more timely feature updates. Most of the phone is updated directly through Google Play instead of waiting for bloated OTAs every other month.

    Wonderful review,
But my major concern is that, why is Xiaomi sticking with these Mediatek chipsets these days. Why can't they just opt for equal Snapdragon chipsets.. Because that was the case just a few years before.. and they had built their reputation with that, a good package with an affordable price range..
But, now, they're just only Mediatek and just one Super flagship High end Snapdragon model!

    • @argilium
      @argilium ปีที่แล้ว +4

Because Dimensity 8100 is a lot more powerful than SD870 and more consistent than SD888. Qualcomm screwed up with 888 and 8 Gen 1 with their throttling and overheating issues because they let Samsung manufacture them instead of TSMC. 8 plus Gen 1 (and later Gen 2) is back with TSMC, but those are for Pro and flagship phones. Despite this, Xiaomi (with Poco) does offer phones of all of the other SoC's mentioned, just look them up. It's actually great that we got a Dimensity 8100 option that isn't stuck on an LCD phone like Poco X4 GT

4:10 I used Blokada on my Xiaomi device to block ads and pinging back home. Then I used debloat software for Xiaomi phones and cleaned it little bit more.
Issue is, wr are already tracked by Google, now other manufacturers try to do the same, especially Xiaomi and as of recent Huawei.

I have been using this phone for a month. The display is pretty good. The battery life is pretty bad, it can"t last a full day. The main camera is a disaster, the images are blurry it looks like there is no focus in the system. Colors are oversaturated and unnetural. The mediatek processor performance is good no lagg at all. I regretted buying it.

I prefer to buy Xiaomi 11t pro insted of 12t. Have same camera, but better or maybe way better macro camera. Only one less year software update and a bit power hungry chip and that's it. Rest of the features in 11t pro is better than or same as 12t. And you can get it for 30k INR in India, which is $400-450 if converted to USD.

You can still charge it a lower wattage, just use a lower watt charger, they just provide the option of higher wattage charging, if some people are worried about battery degradation just charge it with a lower wattage charger.

    • @SomeGadgetGuy

It's pretty close. There are test that demonstrate advantages for the 888, but the 8100 is VERY similar to an 865 with a die shrink. Simply an outstanding design.

@@SomeGadgetGuy Dimensity 8100 is much better than Snapdragon 865. It's not even close in test performances. The closest Snapdragon rival is the 888 version in which the 888 version is only slightly better overall. Although I like to add that Dimensity 8100 beats Snapdragon 888 in multi-core tests.

    Hello
Since you have experience with Samsung Dex and touchscreens combo I wanted to ask for advices. I also appreciate answers from any viewer, in case the creator of this channel can't respond to my message.
I'm interested in using Samsung Dex with a touchscreen monitor myself. Since I spend time in my home mostly and don't really need an additional battery. To not mske things longer, I have my eyes on two devices.
    1. Magedok OLED full HD 13,3. Has touchscreen and no battery. Very similar to Asus Zenscreen OLED 13,3 (you can find more reviews for the later here on TH-cam).
    2. Magedok IPS full HD 14'. Similar to above, just a little bigger and IPS instead of OLED technology. Had no battery as well.
My phone is Samsung S20 FE. I tested Samsung Dex using another monitor (no touchscreen) and it works, but drains my battery very fast. So asking about BOTH monitors my questions are as follows:
    1. Does plugging the power source (to the monitor) stop phone battery drainage? Does it even slow it? I watched reviews, but all they say is that plugging the monitor I can just boost the brightness. So I'm worried it would still consume my phone's battery even when I plug monitor to separate energy source (even if it doesn't need it).
    2. If you aren't sure about the above. What would you recommend me to get additionally? Would buying an USB adapter solve it? I have hope that maybe an active (and not passive) adapter could help, being able to PD power deliver devices using it. Any experience with using it?
    3. Most importantly. Can an use touch screen from the MONITOR when connecting monitor to my phone? Does it transfer both signal (image) AND touch or just the image? I want to control my phone through the monitor (its touchscreen), so both signal and touch transfers are needed.
    4. If the above is true, how much control it gives. Can I use the monitor just like I used my phone? Meaning, could I play 3D android games and use controls just like on my phone? I play one game especially (Sky Children of the Light), it has two on screen 'sticks' (for moving the character and camera, with two thumbs). So I was wondering if using Samsung Dex I can play it normally just like with my phone - Or if it supports only clicking one area at the time (so I couldn't play normally with both thumbs and move the character/camera at the same time). You can even test the game itself if you got some time as it's free and without adds. I'm worried that it works just like a mouse even with touchscreen and offers zero support for multiple touch points pressed at the same time.
For now this is all. Thank you.
    Best wishes, Jon
