Hi David....From 1966-70 I was the HS A/V geek, and have played in bands since 1967. After a stint in the Navy as an avionics tech, I enjoyed a career in low-voltage electronics (specializing in audio), until I retired last year. Now, here I am in amateur radio! There are tons of low-dollar microphones, both wired and wireless, on the market. Some folks may be happy with those for occasional use....and they (users) usually don't have much of an ear for the various types of noise and distortion that they'll get with those, but those will sound quite harsh to a listener, especially after prolonged 'exposure.' For professional use (including TH-cam videos!) I would suggest sticking with reputable brand names (Shure, AKG, and Audio-Technica in particular, although there are many other fine quality pieces out there). Sennheiser is great if you can afford them.....as is the case with Beyer, Neumann, etc. Most of the no-name Chinese stuff will most often yield disappointing results, and aren't usually very durable. Just a bit of friendly advice! 73 :-)
I use the Sennheiser lavalier for most video work. Sometimes I use the Rode lavalier, but I like the sound of the Sennheiser better. I also have a wired Audio-Technica lavalier that I used to use a lot, but once you get used to wireless it's really hard to go back. I started my video channel with a Radio Shack mic but it overdrove, hence the Audio-Technica. Yes, like in most things, you get what you pay for. I think there may be cultural differences as to what sounds good. My first wife spoke Chinese, which sounds a bit harsh and tonal to my unpracticed ear, and I think the Chinese mics I've tried tend to be that way too. For someone brand new to TH-cam, a mic like the Tonor can get someone started for awhile, but they'll want to move up as they get more used to video.
Correct. And I think it's nice that they are black. I've seen some others where the anti-roll collars are colored, which is nice for stage ID but also (IMO) looks a little cheesy in a professional setting. (I would like to get a couple of colored tips for the ends so I can quickly ID mics on stage.

I didn't see you adjust the microphone volume on the wireless receiver itself. I only saw you adjust it on the mixer. Most of those wireless receivers have a separate volume control for each microphone.
One or two option? No, I mean the two potentiometer knobs on the front that spin, where one says "A" and the other says "B". Those adjust the volume for each individual wireless microphone.
Hi Dave, Looks like a fine pair of mics. Only improvement I can see if there was a portable rather than base unit to make walking around interviews easier. Will be watching Ask Dave tomorrow. :-) 73 WB3BJU

When I look at the advertisements for Ham radio High Power amps. there is a choice to use a transformer or switching power supply. Which is a better power supply?

The standard microphone connector is a XLR connector on case you didn't know. Love your videos W4WYR 73
"Standard" depends on use. Ham radio mostly does not use XLR. But throughout industry, XLR is indeed standard.

They're both fine. The switching power supplies are much smaller than the big transformer variety.
