Really great tour through this magnificent city of St. Petersburg. Indeed sort of young city but so much Russian history and major events. My favorite part is St Isaac's Cathedral.

Thank you Renata for producing such a high quality video with a perfect sound. You saved me the cost of a new lap top, +- a thousand bucks. For the last few months everything I watched on the internet was 'dark' and there was no voice, which made me believe, and even the technicians said, that my lap top is shot. Sweden invasion did actually happened, it's just that battlefield was in another place. Long story short: Petr didnt let sweds come close to Saint-Petersburg, kicked their buns near Poltava (russian city, now territory of separated Ukraine).
The Russian word "Tsar" comes from the word "Caesar." A Tsar is not just a monarch, a Tsar is an emperor. The first Tsar was Ivan the Terrible, and Peter the Great simply renamed his title to the European manner.
What an outstading city, no wonder it was the capital of the Russian empire. I bet that is even more beautiful in winter

Actually those insulation are not because of the cold! They installed it to prevent the communication between the prisoners by knocking to each others thru the walls. Because in this prison the main idea was to separeate each political prisoner by the outside world and broke them mentally. They have even fixed the beds legs, because once prisoners used them for communication by knocking them to the floor.

Colombians don't need visa to go to Russia, but I wonder if they would give me trouble for living in the USA. I don't know. What was your experience like? Thanks! I will keep watching!
¡Hola Pedro! ¡Muchas gracias! The visa process varies by nationality. For me, as a Brazilian, it was really easy. Just like you, Brazilians don't need a visa for tourism, only for business. I applied 3 times already and got business visas the next day when I applied in person. For my husband, as an American, the application form was way longer, it required more documents and it took one week for the tourist visa to be ready. But I don't think you need to worry about it. I mean, I'm not an expert, but at the border what matters is the passport you present, and if you present your Colombian passport I think you should be fine. In my last trip to Russia, I met a Colombian friend who was there with no visa. He lives in Colombia, but I don't think that matters... My overall experience getting in and out of Russia 3 times was that people are much nicer than the rest of the world portrays them. Customs officers are the same wherever you go (lol), but I don't think they intentionally want to create problems for anyone.

St Petersburg is more 19th century Russia while Moscow is 20th century Russia. This in terms of architecture and things that you immediately associate with when it comes to history. and the city itself. I can't imagine a visit to Russia without seeing Moscow, especially if you like recent history and remember from real life, school or TV the Cold War. Being at the Red Square and knowing all it represents is something truly amazing. On the other hand, St Petersburg is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Everything is so majestic that you can't avoid but feel mesmerized! And I'm divided... I like both! 😉
Excuse me, but Moscow was founded in 1147, in the 12th century, of course, the buildings of that period there is practically not preserved, but still Moscow is different from St. Petersburg in that Moscow contains all the era, from the 12th century to the present day, in the historical Museum, in the Moscow Kremlin (fortress, founded in 1147) and Moscow has a special ancient spirit woven into modernity, and St. Petersburg-is the creation of Peter the Great, imbued mainly with the atmosphere of the 18th and 19th centuries. Moscow is impregnated with all epochs, that is what distinguishes Moscow from St. Petersburg. And Moscow is associated with the times of the USSR including, but not primarily. Moscow has everything, especially a lot of old mansions of famous people, churches and monasteries. St. Petersburg is impregnated with not a very long era. But both cities are undoubtedly majestic, but they are just different.
Actually, as soon as you leave the center of St.Petersburg, you find yourself in 20th century Russia, with rather dull and often terrible architecture )). Luckily for StPB, the capital was moved to Moscow in 1918 and it helped preserve the historical center. While in Moscow the Communists ruthlessly destroyed lots of ancient churches, monasteries and simply beautiful buildings trying to turn it into a model Communist city of the future. You simply cannot imagine how beautiful and lovely some parts of the center used to be compared to now. Fortunately they failed to realize all of their plans, so Moscow is now a mishmash of different styles and eras though it managed to retain much of its pre-revolution beauty. But some of the Stalin-era buildings are cool (7 'sister'-skyscrapers, VDNH), but some are monstrous.

Попробуйте на круизном корабле из Москвы в Санкт-Петербург или на оборот. Канал Москвы, Волга, Онежское и Ладожское озеро, Карелия, Кижи, старинные Русские города. Корабль "Княжна Виктория" Иностранцы очень любят этот корабль. Строился Американцами для туристов из Америки. Неделю путешествовать.
