Are these recommended for mixing after eq or before eq. I got them and they arent translating well but i know i need to get used to them more. I tried the focal clear mg pro and my translations were immediately better with them, however the sound signature was very fatiguing with the lack of any foam between the drivers and my ears especially. Should I get used or get something else. They are very light which is great though.
I remember the original MrSpeaker Aeon closed. I wasn't impressed with any of the closed-backs I tried back then, but the Aeons stuck in my mind as the worst of them all. For simply listening to music, they sounded really bad compared to LCD-XC, TH900mk2, HD820, Campfire Cascade and even the DT770. The store guy laughed when I gave them back and rhetorically asked "too flat?". Those weren't headphones meant for enjoying music. At least not for me. Soon I'll get a chance to try out the DCA Aeon 2 Noire and I wonder how much the sound has changed compared to the original Aeons. With them now more closely following the harman curve, I expect them to be very different and much more enjoyable. Looking forward to listening to them and hear how far the company has come.
How would DCA Aeon 2 Noir pair up with topping D30 pro/Topping E30 and Xduoo ta-26/Topping A30 pro/Topping L50 ? Which would be a better combo? Can Xduoo XD 05 Bal run these ? Difference in soundstage between these and Audeze XC?
It would work out of the 4.4mm balanced output, but you will need to find a 4.4mm DCA cable, or adapters for the xlr version, which can be bulky for mobile. I'd also look at Qudelix T71 as you get a full EQ and more power, plus the cost saving can help with the cost of the cable.
Hi, I wonder if you could advice. I have a pair of Ollo S4x headphones and I’m looking to upgrade. My budget is around £1000 and i have an Apollo twin x. Are you able to advice on a good mix and mastering headphone that will give me a marked step up from the Ollo S4x? Many thanks. I live in an apartment and have been spending a lot more time on cans. I have a desktop in the box setup and my main and only monitors are the ik media mtm’s. When i currently mix on the S4x and then translate to the mtm’s i notice a marked jump in treble on the speakers with all the harsh tones proud. I have sonaworks software but don’t usually used it
How does the Noire compare with the Aeon Closed RT. It also has the partially fenestrated pads, but in combination with the original Aeon driver system (and a couple of other tweaks).
I found that they start working a bit too early for me, affecting frequencies in the 2k+ region upwards, if they started at 6/7K it would have been more suitable for taming this model, but i'm really happy (especially for studio headphones) to be using without.
Hi!, I am looking for a all in one close back headphone that I can use for all music genres, movies and games. So is this good enough for that? Or is there anything better for the same price or less that I need to research? As for an amplifier I have topping a50s and ifi zen dac v2 I hope that is enough.
Aeon 2 Noire to LCD-XC is the real question as closed backs. XC has that 'air moving' macrodynamics or 'Slam' it sounds much more like speakers than the noire, which is a little bit more 'polite' but it's heavier, however easier to drive from most high end interfaces than the noire. Any of the 3 (Noire, 2021 versions of X, XC ) headphones can work well, just depends which path you want to go down.
I'm looking for a detailed but warm sound signature. Been looking at the dan clarks for a while. The aeon 2 closed are known to be warm. Can the noire be made to sound warmer with the tuning pads? I don't like strong treble so am worried the noires would be too much if the treble can't be toned down with the tuning pads. Would I be better off just getting the aeon 2 closed or can the noire achieve what I'm after with the pads? Or are the lcd-xc the better option? Thanks!

Very nice review. I just got the noire and was wondering if you measured the tuning filters or if you have an opinion of them.

I drive them off my Qudelix 5K, 2.5mm balanced.. no problem driving them, even the 3.5mm out is enough.

I’d try the noire with the white pad, the balance is just a lot more even in the midrange than the aeon 2 closed

@@ChrisKeyman yes I bought them. They have a very balanced sound. The pads do make a difference so there is the ability to shape the sound slightly
