What did you think of the sequel? Like it as much as the first movie or more?
I loved all of the Toy Story movies equally. I grew up with them and enjoyed every minute of each movie. I hope you do too!

I love both the first and second Toy Story movies, but I probably actually love the second movie just slightly better which is really great, and it even has one of the best endings of any Toy Story movie too! I also really like the third and fourth movies as well, but I probably like Toy Story 3 much better than Toy Story 4 though.
Always liked the first one better, 2 seemed a little long and drawn out at certain times. Still good though. And Toy Story 3 is actually fantastic.
When I was kid I hated Stinky Pete. But when I watched this movie again after growing up, I felt a little sympathy for him. He was just a toy never been loved by kids and lived a lonely life. So I can understand why he wanted to go museum so badly.
Yeah he doesn’t seem to have had a very good life so it was probably the best thing to ever happen to him

True story: Pixar accidentally deleted 90% of all finished animation for TS2 nine months before its release day. An animator who had been on maternity leave had taken a hard drive with her which had backups they were able to work off and they were able to deliver the finished film on time. To that animator we should all say: "We are eternally grateful"
Oh wow that most have been extremely stressful. Would been better to push the release one would thing. Lucky she had the disk indeed.
Not only that they only had 8 months until the deadline which meant production was put into maximum overdrive

They were originally gonna make this a straight-to-video sequel, but it was so good that it got a full theatrical release.

It's precious to actually see an adult reacting to this story. This was my childhood, I don't remember a time not knowing what was going to happen. Saw the first two hundreds of times growing up.
Most have been great movies to see as a kid!
I happened to notice between 13:50 and 13:52 when Buzz was giving his speech about rescuing Woody, in the background behind Buzz, the planet Earth is shown although if I remember correctly, when I watched the film and played the video game, the U.S. flag was shown during that scene instead.

@@pepsidude8919 I'm from the UK and this is the version I saw. From what I've heard, outside the US they changed the US flag and national anthem music to the globe image and an original score. I do kind of get why; it obviously plays as exaggerated and satirical in the US but outside of it it'd be easy to mistake for sincere obnoxious patriotism (especially since the US is rather notorious for that kind of thing).
@@Zomdra I see then, but thanks for letting me know though. I only saw just the American version of this movie and I remember seeing the U.S. flag in the background behind Buzz during that scene as well as hearing the U.S. national anthem music which is The Star-Spangled Banner.

@@Sessis While the third is really good and instead of Star Wars they pay homage to prisoner of war and prison escape movies from the past (like "The Great Escape" and "Cool Hand Luke"), the fourth feels more like an epilogue episode while the third film feels like the conclusion.

Sure, you may disagree with me and pull the whole “Woke” agenda bull-crap (Seriously, why do people keep saying that word on the internet? Is it a new trend or something?), but she is allowed to watch “Toy Story 4” whether you like it or not. I don’t mind if you don’t like it, but saying to her that she might not like it convinces her to watch it even more. So I’m stay the hell out of her way if I were you.

I don't know if you knew or not, but there was also a Toy Story 2 video game that was released around the same time when the movie first came out which I even have and the game itself is really fun to play too since you get to control and play as Buzz who tries to rescue Woody like in the movie.

Mine too, and you should also check out the Toy Story 2 video game as well if you never played it before and if you ever happen to be interested in video games since there was also a video game that came out based on the movie which is also pretty good.
I've heard people theorize that the reason Buzz knew and believed his character's backstory and Woody doesn't in this movie is that the Woody doll was produced and sold, then gained so much popularity they added the other characters and merch. So the dolls produced before the rest of the franchise don't know the backstory. Buzz was created after his franchise. And Andy's other toys don't have much of a franchise to know. You don't have to convince a piggy bank that it isn't a real pig.
Fun Fact: when i was re-watching this again. i just noticed something, Buzz is the first model of his Toys, but the newer models in Al's Toy Barn has a Forcefield (which i know everyone has reconized and for me aswell) , and Buzz doesnt have that. now thats a change in toys ive never seen. because the movie was set in 1995 for the toys universe of likely the older models were then refitted with the new model of the forcefield and jet pack maaaybe?. and Buzz doesnt get that forcefield button, it stays the same till the first and the last movie in the year 2007
It's CRAZY to know that I've watched this movie so many times that I am NOT surprised by ANYTHING in it anymore (i.e. I've seen this movie at least 150-200 times since I was 6), but to see someone react to it for the very first time is QUITE A TREAT! That and now that I'm older, I would probably react the exact same way you did if I were to watching it for the first time in my older age! XDXDXD

Besides The Lion King, the Toy Story franchise has been a huge part of my life. Every time I see Jessie’s backstory and hear that song, my heart breaks for her. It’s actually been confirmed that Emily is actually Andy and Molly’s mom. The proof is that Andy’s hat is the exact one you see Emily wearing as a kid. So it makes me so happy to see the circle come complete when Andy plays with the toy that once belonged to his mother.

I heard somewhere that's not confirmed, but still it's a great theory.
If it really is true, and you include the hidden backstory of Woody once belonging to Andy's dad, then it makes the fact Woody and Jessie both ended up with the child of their first owners all the more sweet.

That is a popular fan theory, though it is not considered canon by the film-makers. But even if it's not officially true, one could imagine that it might be true, and still believe in the heartwarming full-circle serendipity.

@@Sessis Takes not used in the final cut of the film, usually when an actor messes up their lines or a stunt or effect fails.They're also called bloopers sometimes and they're often included as bonus content in home releases of movies since they can be pretty funny sometimes. They don't usually exist for animated films due to the nature of the medium, but Pixar actually animated some of the flubbed voicelines as well as a few original scenes for physical comedy so it would feel like a more authentic blooper reel.
There was an interview that confirmed that Stinky Pete actually grows accustomed to his new lifestyle and enjoyed being played with like he wanted in the first place. He may be a villain, but I'm happy for him :)

One thing I find interesting about this film is that it places Woody's origin back by quite a few years. Yet Andy seems to be his first kid. We never hear Woody talking about being handed down from Andy's dad to his son, (we never hear anything about Andy's dad at all; it's a mystery) or ever having a previous owner at all. "ANDY" is the only name written on his shoe, and the only kid he's ever known. So I guess he was manufactured for the show, along with hundreds or thousands of other Woody dolls and Jessies and Prospectors and Bullseyes- and then packed away and only opened when he was given to Andy for the first time? Do toys only come into their sentience when they are opened? The prospector is still in his box. Most of the toys at the store are alive- except for all of the Buzz Lightyears still in their packages on the shelf, and who all seem to be convinced of their own backstory, while other toys are aware of their toy-ness all along... Many of the "rules" of the Toy Story world are never really explained or explored...
Ultimately, they're telling a fun story, and trying to apply too much logic can ruin the magic.
This movie slightly exceeded the success of the first one, it was full of funny moments yet didn't fail to have us on the edge of our seat haha. Do you like the chicken man?

Thank you for reintroducing me to this movie. I’ve seen all of them, but unlike most Pixar movies I’ve seen each one only once.
For some reason I didn’t like this one on first viewing, but I can’t imagine what that would have been. Your delight with the movie is contagious.
It has slightly different pacing then the first movie and I think some more adult jokes/movie references that maybe wouldn’t be picked up by a child so maybe if you saw it as a kid that’s why you didn’t like this one as much 🤔 thank you for the nice comment!

I watched this sequel more than the first movie, there’s just something about it that catches my interest. It’s either the production of the film or the elements that were removed from the first movie but incorporated into this one.
Ok, I am finally here! So, this is one of those rare sequels that lived up, or even possibly was better than the original. They knocked it out of the park with this one. Important note: The "creepy" guy fixing Woody is actually from a Pixar short one of their first actually, so it's a easter egg kinda. The Jesse story is heartbreaking. But, it all ends out great. Glad you loved it. TS 2 came out in 99, TS 1 came out in 95, CGI had came A LONG ways in those 4 short years, which is why it looked alot better, computers from 95 onwards started exploding in power rapidly. Trust me, it actually sucked to buy one back then because every 2 months it was obsolete!! Well, look at that! You are now over 4k Subs!!! Killing it!!! Keep it up!! Can't wait for the next one! and Toy Story 3 is great as well!!

There's a really cool theory that Emily is actually Andy's mom. She outgrew her Jesse doll and gave her away, but when she grew up and had Andy she got him Woody. He also wears the same red hat that Emily is wearing while playing with Jesse. I think it's true.

Favourite memory was The Toy Story 2 video game on PlayStation 1, that game even had cut scenes from the movie.
It was a great Pixar movie since my childhood, but kind of sad since my grandfather passed away, and it was so good!
Over 20 years later, and I *still* want to play the Buzz Lightyear game Rex was playing at the start lmao. There was an old Toy Story 2 game where you play as Buzz Lightyear through the events of the movie, but it just wasn't the same!

There was a Buzz Lightyear cartoon called Buzz Lightyear Of Star Command, that was released after this movie came out. It started out as a movie that wasn't connected to the two prior Toy Story movies. Instead it was Buzz as the real Space Ranger, and not the action figure. Then that became its own TV show, but it didn't last long. The show hasn't been on TV for years, but there's another Buzz Lightyear movie that came out last year which is unrelated to it. It's a totally different movie, but it acts as if it never told the story of Buzz before even though that's not true. Star Command did it first.

Great films never get old! Really cool to see someone react to this film for the first time.
Buzz over here has proven to be one of the smartest characters in Toy Story, so what they did to Buzz in 4 makes no sense and is completely out of character...
It's really nice to see how the other toys clearly care much more about Woody (Especially characters like Mr. Potato Head). It's a minor detail but it shows how Woody has taken the time to know the toys and treat them as equals (The way Buzz did when he first arrived, e.g he taught Rex how to do a scary roar instead of dismissing it like Woody.) Woody before Buzz came may have seen the other toys as someone "Below" than him so he should look after. But after the incident with Buzz, he learns that a friend is something that comes from mutual respect from both sides, and not "do people like me" sort of thing. It's a really nice and passive way of show not tell of Woody learning his lessons from the previous film!
Al's Toy Barn I remember from the first Movie on the TV Scene and is introduced in Toy Story 2

I watched Toy Story 2 countless times and waited.. .and waited... and waited until they finally made Toy Story 3 and it was so worth it.

My other favorite scene from toy story two is a reference to Star Wars where buzz light year is fighting Zurg, buzz tells Zurg that he killed his father and Zurg says he’s his father!!! Glad you enjoyed toy story two and if you react to toy story three you’ll enjoy that even more.

My favorite scene in the story two is when Rex falls out of the car and starts chasing it and Mr. potato head she’s in the mirror Rex’s reflection but bigger just like in Jurassic Park!!!

Toy Story 2 is one of my most favorite Toy Story movies ever and I even have this movie too on both VHS and DVD! I also have the video game based on the movie for PS1 as well since there was also a Toy Story 2 video game which is really fun to play and I always enjoy playing it whenever I'm in the mood for it. Even though I really love all four Toy Story films, I actually probably love the second movie just slightly better though, and it even has one of the best endings ever!
Wow that most be so nice to have your favorite movie in both VHS and DVD, that some nice memorabilia to have. Is it possible to still watch VHS? I didn’t know there was videos games of Toy Story 😃 I’ll have to look if that’s something I can get my hands on. Would love to test it out. @@Sessis You're very welcome and thanks so much for the hearts for my comment posts too! Yeah, I still enjoy collecting physical copies of movies and games even though movies aren't being released on VHS tapes anymore. I used to collect VHS movies though back when I was a kid when I was growing up since they were still making them at the time. It's also still possible to watch and play VHS tapes, but you would need to have a VCR though to play them on and you'll also have to make sure that your TV has the right inputs too for the VCR to work on. You should also definitely check out the Toy Story 2 video game since it's really fun to play and I have it for the original PlayStation (PS1) which is my most favorite version of the game. The physical copy of the Toy Story 2 video game is playable though on both PS2 and PS3 via backwards compatibility, and there was also a digital emulated version of the game that was released on the PlayStation Store just last year in 2022 for both PS4 and PS5 as part of the PlayStation Plus tier lineup. Besides the PS1, the Toy Story 2 video game was also released for some older video game consoles too including the Sega Dreamcast and the Nintendo 64 (N64).

See unlike other toy's there were multiple types, JESSIE, Woody and Bullseye, and Stinkie Pete were custom made from the TV series, but there weren't others like them.
Like example we see millions of other Buzz light-years because it became such a popular toy.
Toy Story's protagonist, Woody, belonged to Andy's father first (indeed, Andy's mom calls Woody “an old family toy”). Andy's father was also named Andy-Andy Sr. -and he wrote his name on Woody's boot. The reason Woody is such a rare toy is because he's the only Woody doll that was ever made-just a prototype. Which is why Al wanted to steal him. But also with Woody and why he is Andy's favorite toy because it's his only connection to his absent father.

I like Toy Story 1 more because of the development of the characters, how Woody went from a jealous cowboy to a good friend of Buzz and how Buzz realized that he was a toy and accepted himself for who he is! And I liked the villain more! But Toy Story 2 is also a great movie for sure

Space games are hard to make and to make fun, look at Red Dead Redemption 2, a cowboy game it came out in 2018 its story is still alive.

Personally, I think each movie is better than the one before it. The original Toy Story was revolutionary with it's animation, but Pixar is so great and they really know what they're doing
