4:59: This is so true. Before the buff, I really didn't rate the Siege Engineer armour. But after the buff, I was more compelled to try it. And boy when I finally did, it was great. I could finally melee bombers and not die. And I think that alone is a good enough reason to buy it.

You might not be a sapper main, but you have formed a good opinion. As a sapper main, I agree with your points. The pickaxe is equal, if not better than the axe. However, I use the axe in casual servers because I frequently find myself defending from hordes of zombies by myself while the rest of the team sits back. The pickaxe is a must have on Berezina and Catacombes though. The zombies are more widely spread out, letting your faster swing speed take them out easier. You can also defend against multiple runners if you find yourself far from the rest of the team, something that the axe's low swing rate can't do.
absolutely agree on Berezina, not sure with the Catacombes. Sure, high swing speed is better when progressing through catacombs but during holdouts I would argue that axe is better due to the zombies not respecting proper distancing.
I’ll be so real I main sapper and almost exclusively use the pickaxe, mostly because I prefer to play more aggressively, I’ve found the pickaxe to be very..applicable to this by kiting zombies, as the penetration is not often a factor as only a handful of zombies are usually actually in safe striking range while kiting a horde, but I gotta say you opened my eyes on the shove mechanic, I kinda just wrote that off as a nothing burger of a mechanic kinda like the shove on the shortstop in tf2. Overall great video and very helpful!
sapper main here! you didn't give the pick enough credit! first of all i never had to go for a headshot to one-shot a Zapper, infact it's a perfectly viable and very useful tactic to wind up you pick,, run straight at a zapper, and one-tap it because it's swing is too slow. (of course this is not counting hardcore which does require headshots) for my second point while the axe *technically* has better crowd control there's never been a horde i could deal with using an axe that the pick wasn't just as or better then the axe due to it's faster swing rate. and of course, shove good :) tl;dr: as a sapper main, pickaxe is better than axe even at the axe's own game. edit: and obligatory Minecraft meme: bomber? aww, man! I am a sapper main too. I bought the pickaxe already, what I do is shoving em before attacking. It's good when they are stunned and you have the chance to kill them
Thing is, you’d want to use the Pickaxe outside the frontline and clear out a horde of those man eating freaks. Like in the other side of Hougomont, outside of La Ferme D’En Haunt, Vardohus Fortress, etc usually in endless maps. But if you’re fighting behind the barricades as a sapper, use the goddamn axe for the penetration!

Nobody wanted a revamp for the pickaxe. It was already PERFECT It was the “I fucking hate zappers” weapon. Now you have to be wait 1.5 seconds more just to do any headshot damage to even kill a zappper.
Good news buddy, it got reverted back to it's original form and it's BUFFED since you can now hit 5 zombies and it may be 0.5 millisecond slower to swing but hey it's better now and it's great to use in hardcore and way more effective at endless too
This review is honestly really good. I have a horrible bias for this weapon until I tried it, and I still hate it, I don't know if it's just muscle memory but I just play so much worse with it in general and feel like I impact less. I'll see if my opinion changes after I play with your advice though
The regular sapper and the engineer actually synergize super well together, you get to one-tap the dangerous zombies at the front (or survive them better) to place the base of a barricade, while the normal sapper repairs and handles the weaker hordes. An excellent shake-up!

I am the type of player to stand behind whole crew and kill the lasts zombies that remain. I think the least satisfying and rewarding job of all, also sometimes there's just no one who want to help. Whole crew can push forward and you get eaten so no one else gets.
I love the damgae of the pickaxe, only problem is that it only hits one zombie per swing... to summarize, not the best melee according to my perspective

I love the damgae of the pickaxe, only problem is that it only hits one zombie per swing... to summarize, not the best melee according to my perspective
It hits 3 zombies per swing
I guess thats a mistake I can learn from
It hits three zombies, though it only does 30 dmg for the other two zombies
