I didn't think this would have to be said - but please do not try and force switches out of a soldered switch mechanical keyboard... This is for hot swap keyboards which means the switches are removable!
I have the RK61 and everywhere I look it says non-hotswap, but mine came with extra switches and a switch puller. I was also able to pull out a switch and put it back with no problem.
Thanks for the thorough explanation! I'm a beginner to custom keyboards and this was super helpful! Couldn't figure out why my switches weren't snapping into place, didn't even occur to me that the number of pins might be wrong.
NOTE - You can use a plastic spudger or something plastic to also do this. It will have less of chance of scratching. I didn't think about scratching during the video because it's a review keyboard and not one of my lovely keebs lol. Sorry :) I will be releasing a lot more tutorials along with more interesting videos soon so don't mind the spam ;) Enjoy!
Unfortunately from factory some are super hard to pull out. Instead of pulling straight up slowly tug from left to right. It will start to release. DO NOT OVER DO IT :)
Its also worth mentioning, you remove all your keycaps first and you will see little screws on the top and bottom of your keyboard. Unscrew those and then start pullingyour switches out, not right away because you will mess up your switches
I was going to take my keyboard under warranty. Because my space key does not work, but I replaced the switch and it worked again. Thanks for the video.

I started using Mechanical Keyboards when they became popular. Over the years I used Mechanical Keyboards from Logitech, Corsair, Razer and course with a brand name you pay for that name. Course none of them I owned had hot-swappable switches. So when you started to have issues with the switches on the keyboard it was time for a whole new keyboard. The thing is none of the Mechanical Keyboards I ever owned lasted more then 2 years. It was all ways the WASD switches and left shift switch wearing out. lol Now I got smart I ended up buying a 60% Mechanical Keyboard that is hot-swappable capable. The Mechanical Keyboard I bought comes with red switches and should be here on Monday. All the Mechanical Keyboards I ever owned either used Green, Red, Blue switches. Never used any other switches besides those three colors. I'm thinking about getting some yellow switches for the 60% Mechanical Keyboard at some point and give those a try.
Why the hate on Cherry Browns? I love them. I like other switches too. But if I'm not planning on upgrading beyond lubing stabs and and adding some foam, maybe some new caps.... I get browns. They are the perfect in-between of linear and clicky.
Thank you, had to clean under a switch somehow and this is at least gave me a bit of confidence, I'm not strong and I'm not smart but hell if I can remove a switch, pick crumbs with tweezers and pit it back in.
I've seen a lot of people asking if they're keyboard is hot swappable, the short answer is, 99% of the time if a keyboard is hotswappable it will be heavenly advertised as it is a big selling point, if your still not sure or have an old keyboard and not sure if it's advertised simply google the model/keyboard and check, AND MAKE SURE 100% IT'S HOTSWAPPABLE BEFORE PULLING ON ANYTHING!!!
