Agreed! I went to a small black metal concert with a girl some years ago, we ended up having a afterparty at her place with some random people outside the building. During that afterparty I was talking to a dude who was married to Lise, then he started explaining he was a vocalist in Dimmu Borgir, I was like wtf, how did I end up in this situation without having no clue 🤣 Super chill and awesome guy!

Loved it! Xtremely jealous of not being there… one comment, its gotta say something that your part gets replaced by a full choral assemble and still in the mind of the listener still your voice can be heard crystal clear… mighty vortex and his sorceries.
All I think about is how those orchestra musicians feel on stage in front of thousands of screaming metal fans. They must be having an absolute blast and experiencing something they never dreamed up there with the smoke, flames, makeup, production, and live energy on that stage 💯🤌🏽😮💨
I was pretty new to metal in 2012 when I saw Dimmu at Wacken with the orchestra. It was mind-blowing, possibly the best at the festival. When I saw Dimmu without the orchestra at Brutal Assault a couple weeks later, it was a completely different (and generally weaker) show. The lesson here is this: Find an orchestra that will not only play with you but also wear paint. Metal.
Although this performance is really cool, I wouldn't say it something new. I'm not a big fan of Metallica but they released their album with the symphonic orchestra of SF in 1999...
@@AxLWake The quality of their performances are much better, and the music is tenfold the quality. It flows much better with orchestra. Frankly, Metallica are simple and boring. Not many extreme metal bands have utilized orchestras like Dimmu.
I love it, with these apocalyptic trombones! It's so Wagner like, who brought the darkness and destructive into music.. My newest exploration is the band Conjurer! Check them out!

I like that the classical musicians of the orchestra seem to enjoy themselves. Some even painted their faces.
