Dude knows what he's talking about. 8 dislikes? Maybe those 8 people were looking for a video that says "You're already great no need to practice... love Mom."
I just can't express how much I love his style, it's so unique and intricate yet it remains cohesive unlike a lot of guitarists in Metal who just go balls to the walls for technicality and forget about the musical aspect of their playing.

One of the most innovative guitarists in modern metal
@@AndrewTannerMusic I wouldnt consider Romeo a modern one. We are 20 years after The divine wings of tragedy. Sounds crazy actually lol. I think now he is a classic. And a very good classic.
my brother taught me all the music theory i know and he never took any music classes in school. he was just messing around with guitar pro for about 5 years
I like how this guy just rolls through musical scales like they aint nothin. "oh yea just this augmented lydian hungarian model sharp 9 c minor with the flated fourth". whooo had to watch 13 times before i got how to use this in the key of bflat.
Just a lovely lesson and i love the idea when picking hand goes from its normal positions close to the fret where tapping should be done!i had this idea before and now i see this applied very nicely!🤗
So is the key sweeping the notes that you are playing further up the fret board to position your hand in a manner that allows you to get to that tapped note? Otherwise, it seems like it would be too long of a transition.
GORGUTS!!! this said: for me its nice to use an upstroke as last note of the first bit: d.s - h.o. - d.s - h.o. - tap(m) - p.o - p.o - U.S - (d.s ect) to use an upstroke here and have the downstroke at the beginning of a new cycle makes it more intuitive in noodling around and subdividing this shape, to me it gives a clear sense of pulse compared to having a pull off at this point (although the pulloff could give way to some new ideas at that particulair point). Anyways really love the shape s0o easy to play in any 7th chord (or symetric setup) it will get salvaged in my playing. Cheers!
Just wanted to point out to others that: The Major 7 #5 can also be found in Harmonic minor, not just Hungarian minor. in harmonic minor it is known by some as Ionian #5 if you want to think of it that way. (Ie: if you're in a minor and using harmonic minor, you could make Cmajor 7 #5 and it would fit to that. :) I know I'm just some guy, but just thought I'd throw it out there if anyone was confused.
I'm pretty sure Ibanez got sued over the shape, and that's why they don't make them anymore. The same thing goes with the VTB series, but I think it was Dean that sued them for that shape.
+christian bohnenkemper I just replied to another guy asking for it. So I will just give you this too. "Starting on the low E string (he is using 7-string), the first pattern is 2-3 then 2-5-9 on the A string where the 9th is tapped. Then move that same pattern up the other 2 octaves, voila! (hint, move up 2 frets, and then 3 frets, the way octaves are laid out on guitar. The "lydian" pattern is: 2-3 again on E, then 2-4-9 on A, and so on. And the last "exotic" pattern derived from the hungarian scale is: 2-3 on E, and then 2-6-9 on A, and again, move up an octave, and do the same pattern from the 4th fret, on the D string."
This is a great lesson. I'll have to practice it a few hundred times to get it down. Either way it makes me a better player and it's fun doing it in the process.
Actually, it's just about knowing your scales, intervals and modes. The information is available in many sites. He shows an interesting idea with this though.
man, i play alotta blues and common solo stuff, and i mean i can do some finger tapping, but this sweeping tapping thing just astonishes me 😮😮😮 that speed and just oh my god how the HELL do you do that, even with practice i just cant imagine my finger doing that
just break it down and slow it down, and just do small figures for about 15mins a day. when your hands get used to it then keep speeding it up and so on.
boot skatt exactly right. Then once you know these "exotic" scales and modes... you can spritz them into your more traditional playing. Its exactly what he does in revocation... thats why it sounds unorthodox.
Was driving myself insane wondering what i was doing wrong until I noticed he was playing on a 7 string -_- so how do you do this on a 6 without being in standard tuning?
I keep on coming back to this lesson it is so awesome but each time he says 5th mode of hungarian minor I wanna laugh my ass out-Guy is a metalhead but at the same time heavy music theory nerd HAHAHAH
now it's 2016 year. Programm for video on PC have a function to insert titles, layers, more info. Isert tabs on video more help than all this video repeats. Hard to see WHAT is the number of fret or string. No need to say by voice this information. We need TABS it more helps than blah, blah take your finger on six string on 4 fret and tap then hold... blah. Video can be SHORTER and more USEFUL
"it goes like this" ~doot~...~doot~...~doot~...~doot~doot~deeee~ hm, looks simple enough "now here it is at tempo" ~doodluh~doodluh~diddly~diddly~doodly~diddle~deedly~doodluh~doodluh~diddly~deeee~!!!!!!! [has aneurysm][flails around on the floor foaming at the mouth] "down stroke, hammer on, down stroke, hammer on, down stroke, hammer on] [eyes bulging out of sockets] "down stroke, hammer on" [dies]
This’ll really blow your mind then… Each pointy “horn” or “fin” of the warrior body style is made up of that same exact Jackson headstock shape that you like 👍🏻 so the warrior is basically 4 Jackson headstocks designed into a guitar shape.
Dude knows what he's talking about. 8 dislikes? Maybe those 8 people were looking for a video that says "You're already great no need to practice... love Mom."
+TheGreaterGood80 Dave is a beast, great teacher
David Philips its up to 16. fucking idiots
16 people feel bad about their playing and are too lazy to do anything about it. ;-)
Aaaand now it’s up to 32. It’s literally doubling.
I literally just spewed beer out of my nose bc of this comment. Hilarious.
I just can't express how much I love his style, it's so unique and intricate yet it remains cohesive unlike a lot of guitarists in Metal who just go balls to the walls for technicality and forget about the musical aspect of their playing.
One of the most innovative guitarists in modern metal
josh from sylosis too
Andrew Jones true sylosis and revocation is a unique thrash band very innovative
Ever heard of a guy by the name of Michael Romeo?
@@AndrewTannerMusic I wouldnt consider Romeo a modern one. We are 20 years after The divine wings of tragedy. Sounds crazy actually lol. I think now he is a classic. And a very good classic.
The level of music theory this guy understands is astounding

If knowing the diminished scale is impressive, then i’m miles davis.
I like how this guy just rolls through musical scales like they aint nothin. "oh yea just this augmented lydian hungarian model sharp 9 c minor with the flated fourth". whooo had to watch 13 times before i got how to use this in the key of bflat.
That is fucking amazing. Taking a simple tapping arpeggio and lifting it to sound awesome!
many times i’ve thought these same thoughts when i was sweep tapping in the 5th mode of hungarian minor.
Does anyone know where I can find the tabs for these figures? Would be cool to play around with this idea
It looks like Jesus has come back in the form of Dave Davidson
Thanks for this! Dave is fantastic.
2:34 that reminds me so much of tosin abasi
The guy has ridiculous skills
Just a lovely lesson and i love the idea when picking hand goes from its normal positions close to the fret where tapping should be done!i had this idea before and now i see this applied very nicely!🤗
Am I the only one that noticed that his bridge pickup ring is broken?
that ax is straight out of the 9th ring of hell. fuckin beastly. once I realized it was a 7 it made it all the more admirable. Gorgeous craftsmanship.
That guitar is absolutely beautiful
Thank you so much! 素晴らしい動画をありがとうございます🙇
Man i learned so much from this lesson. He is an amazing teacher for theory
my problem is coordination. I have the finger motion of both hands, but i cant get them to cooperate
Phenomenal guitarist. This is why I am attending music school.
Great vid you are an excellent guitarist and the guitar to was amazing
Dave is the kind of guitar player I aspire to be.
Amazing guitar finish
I covet that instrument. Nice little lesson too :)
Huge inspiration
Jeff Loomis uses this kind of lick a lot
Very nice guitar i have this too but black
So is the key sweeping the notes that you are playing further up the fret board to position your hand in a manner that allows you to get to that tapped note? Otherwise, it seems like it would be too long of a transition.
That guitar is amazingly lovely
I luv that guitar and the slow run down

Very big thanks for open team!!! Very big nord health your and very big good luck!!!
Where could I find the previous lesson he talks about at the beginning of the video ?
Just wanted to point out to others that: The Major 7 #5 can also be found in Harmonic minor, not just Hungarian minor. in harmonic minor it is known by some as Ionian #5 if you want to think of it that way. hungarian minor is a mode of harmonic minor so of course. i believe its just the #7? might be wrong.
Dude what gear is he using? I love that tone.
Jackson rulez! \m/
wonder what happened to his bridge pup ring? looks like it cracked and a part of it fell off.
couldn't handle the metal
Is it me, or is the body style of the Jackson Warrior exactly the same as the Ibanez Xiphos? It looks like the exact same angles and contours.
I'm pretty sure Ibanez got sued over the shape, and that's why they don't make them anymore. The same thing goes with the VTB series, but I think it was Dean that sued them for that shape.
Chris Seigler they didn't get sued, the xiphos just wasn't popular enough
6672rock it's similar, the "horns" on the xiphos aren't as extremely angled as the ones on the warrior tho
You are the best teacher
Title should be "Riffs to show the aliens"
Is this in standard tuning or??
This shit is beyond me, but I would love to learn it for sure!
Would be nice if they also included the tabs with this.
Beginner question... why not just tap with both hands and use hammer ons / pulls offs?
This is a great lesson. I'll have to practice it a few hundred times to get it down. Either way it makes me a better player and it's fun doing it in the process.
This guy is awesome!
How did you get to that level of music theory!? Hot dayum!
all it takes is studying
he went to school for it, there is a really good interview with him somewhere on the youtubes. its really good
DJCJallday study a scale, experiment with modes and arpegio shapes...its not as hard as it seems
Actually, it's just about knowing your scales, intervals and modes. The information is available in many sites. He shows an interesting idea with this though.
isaac thrash haha like you would know
@ 4:33 - just straight up! haha
Great vid
Dude...where are all of these awesome lead ideas on the Revocation albums?
On every single song my friend. If you haven't you need to listen to their latest record.
thank you
I wish I could buy this guitar
man, i play alotta blues and common solo stuff, and i mean i can do some finger tapping, but this sweeping tapping thing just astonishes me 😮😮😮 that speed and just oh my god how the HELL do you do that, even with practice i just cant imagine my finger doing that

and also, think of it as sweeping two strings at a time, not across the whole 6.
Can anyone tell me the guitar he's using?
Jackson warrior, not exactly sure which one though. I think it's his signature.
Jackson Warrior custom Shop
So, where is the e chord?
Can you teach us where to buy a sweet ass jackson?
Sick
Awesome
Such a solid player. 2018 and I still can't play this fucking lick.
Tuning???
B flat or E flat on a 6 string
sweet baby jesus !
this guy definitely studied jazz
I've noticed many people saying metal is very jazzed influenced,
how so??
and should I study jazz to improve my shredding/tapping
jazz is definitely really good for shredding and shit, you'll learn scale patterns and chords that you would never learn just studying rock/metal
boot skatt exactly right. Then once you know these "exotic" scales and modes... you can spritz them into your more traditional playing. Its exactly what he does in revocation... thats why it sounds unorthodox.
Yes berkely jazz
Did he say a Hungarian scale??
best part of this lesson? hes wearing a Gorguts shirt.
Trango Fast no
Hungarian Minor?
who would thumbs down this?
What tuning os this in? D standard?
Martin Mia standard eb
OOOOOOOOOoooooooowww I want this in my "talent list" :o
Thanks!\x/
Tabs would make this much faster to learn...
Learning a bit of music theory and training your ear, will improve your guitar playing even more in the long run :)
TheMathMog93 OK dude, I know that, but I want to learn faster, and tabs would be a pleasure.
+Raphael Lippi why in such a hurry? would you rather learn it or learn it well?

yea well pretty sure he graduated from berklee
Playing high gain doesn't mean shit about "finding urself" guys ;P lmao. In related news... Revocation rules!!
I love that guitar
"Down Stroke, hey moron.. " xD
Sounds like Steve Vai
Tony MacAlpine...
ur pickup ring is broken
Like a slightly evolved Gary Moore lick
Man this is really hard.. Lol
Jackson shark tail😄
SAME SHIRT EVERY INTERVIEW
C Hungarian minor...if I had a dollar every time I played that scale..amirite?
I officially feel useless as a musician 😭😂
Hmmm, aahh yes, C Hungarian Minor, of course🧐

What in the fuck's name is he actually talking about. Literally didn't understand a word
Great guitar player, I hate the shape of that guitar!
Talented you are , but as a guitarist, not teaching. You go too fast, thinking everyone is at your level.Or is guitar world giving you the time limit?

Patience and practice. Watch the video multiple times if you have to.
thats the ugliest top i have ever seen. Looks like something Ibanez would put on their $99 guitars
Josh DelVendo are you?
I thought the top was pretty cool
Spalted maple, pretty pricey stuff. And no, you will never ever find it on a cheap guitar
It's a real spalted top which is very nice. Ibanez would put on a fake veneer if it was one of their lower priced guitars.
I need thows tabs even at the link there not in there sick video thow
That’s a gnarly guitar
