I think so too! I was so worried when I first transitioned it, and it surprised me with this spike. It's thirstier than I expected. Thanks for watching!
I grow mine similarly. Instead of the topping of pebbles i use a layer of orchid bark mix for Phals. I also wrap the top roots with a few strands of sphagnum moss. It's growing great already put out 9 new roots.
@@NicoleDeanna I just took a leap. Well a leap with a lot of research and study. lol I read up on the short comings of leca, like the drying top layer and the fact that it doesn't influence the PH of water. Plus, I don't want to make keeping orchids something too difficult. The orchid bark top layer should help lower the ph when I water / soak it. Oh another thing I do is I put a layer of leca in the reservoir. This breaks the surface tension of the water there and it helps keeps the root area more humid. Got the idea from people using trays of pebbles and water to keep humidity in a growing area. It was first just an experiment but i'll be damn if it didn't work.
I have to echo Fernanda’s comment a second flush of blooms is impressive especially at this time of year. Yours too, like Nina’s are enjoying the semi-hydro and hydroponic way of growing. I am in awe of the two of you. Nice to have that fragrance at a different time of year as well.
When I saw the spike develop last month I was in shock. I thought it was very fast too. I didn't think these orchids would take well to the grow method so I was nervous at first. Thank you so much for watching!
Thanks for the care guide I grow all my orchids in semi hydro in a similar climate as you. I'm off to the nursery by me they have one in a 3.5" pot with multi growth. Can't wait XD
Nice info! I don’t have actual falcata but lots of cross...😓 Lou snealy is on my list... I didn’t know NY has high humidity! That’s higher than hear. I might get some different variety of neostylis falcata this year.
Bloom hog much? 😅 how cool is that? Never heard of that happening in such close succession ... you've got it nailed 😍 thank you, Nicole, for joining in on this initiative! So nice to see one in bloom this time of year! Love the length of your leaves 🤩🤩
She really is a bloom hog 😂 I'm not mad though 😁 she came in bloom for me when I got it in bark in September (from my Hausermann haul). I thought I must be doing something right. I was very surprised to see it spike a few weeks ago. Definitely find them very thirsty and was nicely surprised to see it transition well in self watering. So nice to participate with you. I enjoyed watching the other collabs as well 🤗 Besos amiga!
I think you need to get a Vandachostylis Dainty (V. falcata x Rhy retusa). It produces Neo like blooms on arching spikes like the retusa, with just a splash of color on the lip and faint freckles on the petals and sepals.
I want all of them! I looked this one up and it looks lovely. I'm certainly adding to my wish list. This Orchid certainly inspired my gold country orchids haul that's for sure. Thanks for watching Michael!
Hi Nicole, what a coincidence, I received my first neofinetia falcata yesterday with the catasetum and other orchids, the grower said it was a blooming size but I doubt it because it is so tiny, just two sets of leaves and a growth. Will they really bloom at that size ? Anyway as you said I will flush it regularly, feed lightly and adjust the ph. What ph do you suggest ? Thanks Nicole.
So exciting! You're going to love it! I'll say I've never had a small neo, so I couldn't say if she can bloom very young. I hope she blooms quickly for you! The fragrance is out of this world. I use a PH of 6 and it works really nicely for mine in self watering leca. Andre, thanks as always for your nice comments. Hugs 🤗
Hi Nicole, what a lovely plant, second flush of blooms in such a short period, wow!!! She really is enjoying your care. Those roots are fabulous!!! So nice when an orchid blooms for us without mush fuss, loved it. Happy weekend 💖💖💖
Thank you so much Fernanda! I enjoyed seeing yours. I bet she's going to really thrive with her new charcoal, moss setup. Enjoyed collaborating with you 😘❤️
@@NicoleDeanna 😊 LOL,, if people knew how much money you have in Orchids,, ya might need more security.. I'm joking ok,, but some things I hear about NY scare me more than hurricanes, tho less as much as tornadoes..🌸 🏵 🌼 ❤

Love this one. 🥰
Thank you 💖
She is just perfect!!!
Thank you amiga ❤️
Thanks for this care collab video..!!!
Thanks so much for watching 🤗❤️
Very nice! Looks like it likes this setup, the blooms are pretty, I love their fragrance too.

beautiful pant, and I might add, beautiful diamond on your hand.
Aww Michelle, I missed this comment, but wanted to say thank you for the nice comment 🤗

I was very scared when I first transitioned this over, but it was good to see that it's a viable grow method for it. Thanks for watching!

@@NicoleDeanna well, it isn't really a good time for shipping, but orchidclassics4u has them. They sell good plants and pack well.

You seem nice. Sad you need bars on the windows to feel safe..
The bars are actually from the façade of the building. I don't have these on my other windows
